A series of six explosions triggered within minutes of each other Tuesday tore through Jaipur, a popular tourist destination in the state of Rajasthan, killing 60 people and injuring about 150.
Officials already are terming the blasts a terrorist attack, the latest strikes that serve as a reminder that India, despite its rapid economic expansion, is still exposed to internal strife and vulnerable to terrorism. There were no immediate claims of responsibility. The death toll was expected to rise as the rescue effort progressed.
