NEW NUCLEAR: Loan guarantee secured by Areva
The second US nuclear loan guarantee has been announced as destined for the Eagle Rock uranium enrichment plant. The $2 billion award uses up half the current pot for fuel cycle facilities.
NUCLEAR POLICIES: Russia and Bangladesh agree to cooperate
Russia and Bangladesh have signed an intergovernmental agreement on cooperation in the field of atomic energy for peaceful purposes. Meanwhile, Russia plans to cooperate with Namibia in uranium mining and processing.
INDUSTRY TALK: Nuclear funds to be allocated in Pakistan
The Pakistan government will allocate some Rs18 billion ($213 million) for the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission (PAEC) in the upcoming development budget for 2010-11 to complete 19 ongoing nuclear energy-related projects under public sector development programs, according to a report in the Daily Times newspaper.
