| NEW NUCLEAR: Construction on schedule for first Sanmen unit |
| The project to build the world's first AP1000, China's Sanmen 1, reached a construction milestone when the third steel ring of the plant's containment vessel was hoisted into place. Work on the Westinghouse plant is now back on schedule, despite falling six months behind at the end of last year. |
| INDUSTRY TALK: LaSalle uprate gets nod from regulator |
| The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has approved a 1.65% uprate of both unit 1 and 2 of Exelon's LaSalle nuclear power plant in Illinois. Exelon plans to increase the generating capacity of each boiling water reactor (BWR) from some 1179 MWe to 1192 MWe. |
