1. Terrorists Warn Israel: Harming Al-Aqsa Will Open Gates of Hell
by Elad Benari Terrorists: Harming Al-Aqsa Will Open Hell

The Popular Resistance Committees terrorist organization threatened Israel on Tuesday, warning it that any harm to the Al-Aqsa mosque would “open the gates of hell against the Zionist enemy.”

In a statement the organization issued, it stressed its commitment to protecting the dignity of the mosque, which it claimed is being “contaminated by the Zionists”, through the masses of the Islamic nation which has started waking up and meeting its religious commitment towards “Palestine” and towards the Al-Aqsa mosque.

The statement further noted that the Israeli violation of Islamic holy places in Jerusalem was made possible because Israel saw the helplessness of the Muslims for decades, and now the time has come to mobilize the Islamic nation to action and “save” the Al-Aqsa mosque from the “Zionist impurity.”

Sheikh Ekrima Sabri, the former mufti of Jerusalem, said in this regard that the area of the Al-Aqsa mosque, including the Al-Buraq Wall (the Arabic term for the Western Wall) belongs only to Muslims, and Jews have no right to it.

Sabri expressed his strong opposition to an agreement that would allow Jews to pray on the Temple Mount, in an arrangement similar to the one that exists in the Cave of the Patriarchs. There recently have been growing calls to create a partition between two sections of the Temple Mount, one for Jewish use and the other for Muslims.

The Arab statements make no mention of the fact that the Waqf, which was left in charge of the Temple Mount following Jerusalem’s reunification in 1967, has removed every sign of ancient Jewish presence at the Jewish holy site. The decision to leave the Temple Mount in the hands of the Waqf was made by then-Defense Minister Moshe Dayan.

At the entrance to the Temple Mount, a Waqf sign says, “The Al-Aqsa Mosque courtyard and everything in it is Islamic property”.

Police, in an attempt to appease the Waqf, discriminate against Jews. They limit the number of Jewish worshippers allowed on the Temple Mount at one time in order to prevent conflict with Muslim worshippers. They often close the Mount to Jews in response to Muslim riots – despite evidence that Muslim riots have been planned in advance for the specific purpose of forcing Jews out.

In July, the Arab League released a statement warning Israel to stay away from the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The statement warned the “occupation authorities” against interfering with the mosque. “The city of Al-Quds [Jerusalem] and at its head the Al-Aqsa Mosque, is a red line that must not be crossed, and any attack on it will definitely endanger the safety and stability of the entire region,” it stated.

2. Report: Hamas ‘Fifth Column’ in Abbas’ Bodyguards
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Report: Hamas ‘Fifth Column’ in Abbas’ Bodyguards

Hamas has infiltrated into the senior ranks of Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abba’s own security forces, bearing out Israel’s worst fears that the PA might turns it guns on Israelis, according to the DebkaFile website.

Debka, staffed by former journalists and former intelligence personnel, said that the Palestinian Authority arrested this past Sunday two Hamas agents of the terrorist’ organization’s military branch who infiltrated into the elite hand-picked security force that guards Abbas.

The PA reportedly has clamped a blackout on the arrests.

Abbas' personal security force includes approximately 170 men, and the general security forces include an additional 4,000. The discovery of the two Hamas infiltrators indicates the possibility that the PA security army, officially called police under the Oslo Accords, may be filled with more Hamas operatives.

Debka said there might be the existence of an “unknown number of sleeper cells awaiting orders to spring into action” against Abbas as well as IDF soldiers and Israeli civilians in Judea and Samaria.

Israeli nationalists have warned for years that the government’s allowing the PA to deploy a security force far larger than the number limited by the Oslo Accords, and allowing them to be armed, will bring about a repeat of the terror that broke out in the late 1990s after the Rabin government gave the PA thousands of rifles.

The presence of Hamas terrorists in the PA security forces is especially troubling for the United States and Britain, which screened Abbas’ personal guards.

3. Lieberman Lays It on the Line: Abbas an Obstacle to Peace
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu Lieberman Bluntly Says Abbas an Obstacle to Peace

Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman, known for his shot-from-the-hip talk, wrote European Union’s foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton what many in the government think but never said: Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas is an obstacle to peace and does not act in the interests of his own people.

In a letter published by the Haaretz newspaper, Lieberman also wrote that Abbas should be replaced because he "apparently is uninterested or unable... to reach an agreement which would bring an end to the conflict."

He repeated numerous government statements that in return for dozens of “good will” gestures by Israel, Abbas has dug deeper in a trench that has led him to try to bypass talks with Jerusalem and instead appeal to the United Nations for recognition of the Palestinian Authority as an independent country on its own terms.

The Foreign Minister called for new Palestinian Authority elections, which have been held only once. Abbas’ term of office officially ended more than two years ago, which Lieberman noted in his letter to Ashton.

“Abbas does not represent the general Palestinian interest (for example, he has repeatedly postponed the democratic process of elections in the PA.) nor even the interest of his constituents in the West Bank. The Palestinian Authority is a despotic government riddled with corruption,” Lieberman wrote.

He also told Ashton that instead of taking positive steps toward speaking with Israel, “He is creating a culture of blaming Israel for delaying the [peace] process, while attempting to achieve advantages without negotiation via blackmailing and ongoing to attempts to internationalize the conflict.”

Concerning PA claims that “settlements” are the obstacle to peace, Lieberman noted, "The entire area of the settlements constitutes approximately one percent of the area of the West Bank.” He added that Israel suffered the onslaught of 14,000 rockets from Gaza since the government expelled all Jews from the region and withdrew its military presence.

Lieberman also wrote veiled criticism of Ashton and the international community community’s long-standing view that the root of problems in the Middle East is the “occupation” of Jerusalem, Judea and Samaria.

“Facts and history, as opposed to the simplistic stereotypes and political bias, contradict the idea that’s somehow the settlement enterprise is the main obstacle to renewing negotiations,” Lieberman wrote.

4. Federal Agents Arrest Armed Man Over Obama Threats
by Rachel Hirshfeld Federal Agents Arrest Armed Man Over Obama Threats

Federal agents in Washington state have arrested an armed man accused of making threats against President Obama via e-mail.

Federal agents took Anton Caluori, 31, into custody on Tuesday afternoon, Secret Service spokesman Brian Leary said. Caluori reportedly came to door with a shotgun but was taken into custody without injury, Leary said.

Secret Service Assistant Special Agent in Charge Bob Kierstead told local ABC news affiliate KOMO that suspicious items, including potential explosive devices, were found in the man’s apartment, which prompted a bomb squad to search the premises. No bombs were found.

“He has a good education, he’s a good boy, but he’s done a stupid thing,” Caluori’s mother, Renee told KOMO. “I don’t know a whole lot. How would you feel if your son got arrested? Never got arrested, was in the military, has a college education. And I’m just a little bit upset and shocked.”

Obama, who was campaigning in Ohio at the time, did not appear to be in immediate danger.

“A threat against the president was delivered via email to a general FBI inbox,” said Cathy Schrock, who works with the Washington police. “The Secret Service went down to investigate, and the defendant was found to be armed when they arrived at the apartment.”

Caluori is currently in federal custody and will have an initial court appearance Wednesday afternoon, sources said. He is accused of threats against the president and assaulting a federal officer.

5. IDF Expels Two Migron Activists from Judea and Samaria
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu IDF Expels 2 Nationalists from Judea and Samaria

The IDF Tuesday night escalated a policy of removing potential opposition to the destruction of Migron and ordered two activists out of Judea and Samaria for six months, even though no charges or indictments have been made against them.

It was the second such order in several days and targeted two nationalists who live in Ramat Migron, an outpost near Migron which has been destroyed several times.

Migron, home to more than 50 families, faces destruction at the end of the month after the government capitulated and went back on promises to support the community after a significant amount of the land was purchased from alleged Palestinian Authority Arab owners.

The High Court refused to alter its former expulsion and demolition order, even though the “facts on the ground” had changed by virtue of the purchase.

Concerned that activists will disturb the planned expulsions, Central Command Major General Nitzan Alon, signed the orders Tuesday night to banish two Ramat Migron residents from Judea and Samaria, one of them for six months and the other for nine months. The IDF said the activists are suspected of being involved in "price tag" activities against Arabs.

Similar orders were signed against two other nationalists in the past week.

National Union Knesset Member Dr. Michael Ben-Ari said Wednesday, “I am afraid for the model of Israeli democracy. If there is evidence against the activists, the judicial system should indict them, but if there is none, there is no reason to issue anti-democratic orders.”

6. IDF Bases Receive 'Special Forces’ for Holiday Prayers
by Tzvi Ben Gedalyahu IDF Bases Get 'Special Forces’ for Holiday Prayers

IDF bases and outposts are being beefed up with “Special Forces” of former and current Hesder yeshiva students who will blow the shofar and help lead High Holiday prayers.

Former Beit Orot Hesder yeshiva students Sarel Shapir and Nadav Malcha said former and current Hesder students will be deployed throughout the country to make sure there is a minimum of the 10 men required for a minyan (public prayer).

The volunteers will blow the shofar and help lead the prayers on the two days of Rosh HaShanah, the beginning of the Jewish New Year, which starts Monday night, September 16.

Thousands of Israeli soldiers remain at their bases and isolated outposts on the Sabbath and holidays.

The sensitive security situation in the south, where Sinai and Gaza terror is on the rise, and in the north, where the Syria civil war is being fought up to Israel’s border, has placed many units on alert and kept thousands of soldiers from going home for the holidays.

“This effort will strengthen IDF soldiers and give them a closer feeling [to the holidays] even when they are away from their families and homes,” said Shapir.

He and Malcha have established headquarters where army rabbis and soldier can ask for reinforcements for prayer services.

“This is a wonderful effort that grew from the grassroots and underscores the connection between Hesder yeshivas and the army and soldiers, said Hesder yeshiva movement director Eitan Uzi.

7. As Republican Convention Nears, 'Fear of Isaac' Grows
by Rachel Hirshfeld As GOP Convention Nears, 'Fear of Isaac' Grows

All eyes are on the Mid-Atlantic as newly formed Tropical Storm Isaac continues picking up steam, possibly posing a threat to the Republican National Convention, which convenes in Tampa next week

According to the National Hurricane Center, Isaac is currently spinning with 40-mph winds about 500 miles east of the island of Guadeloupe and is expected to become a hurricane on Thursday with winds in excess of 74 mph.

The exact path of the storm has yet to be determined, as it could move along several paths as it nears the United States, from the Gulf of Mexico to east of Florida, said Michael Brennan, a specialist at the National Hurricane Center.

“It’s certainly too soon to get specific about where this system might be in five or six days,” he said, according to The New York Times.

It’s “the peak of hurricane season – there’s always the risk of impact anywhere in the hurricane-prone areas,” he continued. “This is the time of the year when we have the most storms. Everybody needs to be prepared.”

Republican National Convention spokesman James Davis said Tuesday that officials have already been coordinating with state and local emergency officials in preparation for the storm.

8. Ryan: I’ve Got More Foreign Policy Experience Than Obama in '08
by Rachel Hirshfeld Ryan: I’ve Got More Experience Than Obama in '08

Mitt Romney’s vice-presidential candidate, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.), argued that he has more foreign-policy experience than President Obama did when he ran for president in 2008.

"Well, most of the traveling I’ve done throughout my 14 years in Congress has been to the Middle East. You know, I’ve had men and women to war on more than one occasion," Ryan said on Fox News's "Hanity" show Tuesday night.

"I’ve been to those funerals. I’ve talked to the widows and the wives and the parents. I’ve gone to Afghanistan and Iraq to meet with our troops, to learn from them. Obviously, I have a lot more experience than Barack Obama did when he became president."

Obama, then an Illinois senator, came under fire during his 2008 campaign as not having a sufficient amount of foreign policy experience to be president.

Four years later, many are saying that he still does not have enough foreign policy experience to warrant him a second term in office.
