Syria: Christians take up arms for first time
"Everybody is fighting everybody," said George, an Armenian Christian from the city. Feds ID California man's role in anti-Islam film:  Federal authorities have identified a southern California man once convicted of financial crimes as the key figure behind the anti-Muslim film that ignited mob violence against U.S. embassies across the Mideast, a U.S. law enforcement official said Thursday. 



'Innocence Of Muslims': Man Admits Role In Anti-Islam Movie:  The self-proclaimed director of "Innocence of Muslims" initially claimed a Jewish and Israeli background. But others involved in the film said his statements were contrived as evidence mounted that the film's key player was a southern Californian Coptic Christian with a checkered past. 



Meet The Right-Wing Extremist Behind Anti-Muslim Film :  While Bacile claims to be in hiding, and his identity remains murky, another character who has been publicly listed as a consultant on the film is a known anti-Muslim activist with ties to the extreme Christian right and the militia movement 



Who is Sam Bacile?:  Some key facts about Bacile's background and role in the film crumbled Wednesday as a Christian activist involved in the film project said that Bacile was a pseudonym, that he was not Jewish or Israeli, and that a group of Americans of Mideast origin collaborated on the film. Officials in Israel also said there was no record of Bacile as an Israeli citizen.

FBI Warns of Violence in America Over Anti-Islamic Movie:  A U.S. intelligence bulletin warned today that the violent outrage aimed at U.S. embassies spawned by a movie mocking the Prophet Mohammed could be spread to America by extremist groups eager to "exploit anger." 



Romney criticised for remarks on Libya attack:  Barack Obama has said Mitt Romney tends to "shoot first and aim later" after his challenger in upcoming elections attacked the US president's response to protests in North Africa. 



Greek Unemployment rate hits 23.6 percent in second quarter:  According to figures released on Thursday, unemployment climbed to 23.6 percent in the quarter from 22.6 percent in the first quarter. 



Rich-Poor Gap Widens to Most Since 1967 as Income Falls:  The report also showed the income gap between rich and poor people grew to the widest in more than 40 years in 2011 as the poverty rate remained at almost a two-decade high. 



Mayor Emanuel plans to close one-fifth of Chicago public schools:  A central issue in the struggle of Chicago teachers is the plan by the city, backed by the Obama administration, to dismantle large sections of the school district, closing dozens of public schools and opening new privately-operated charter schools.
