Cables Show Arab Leaders Fear a Nuclear Iran
The American embassy cables reveal that the front against a
nuclear-armed Iran is broader than previously known. In private talks,
Arab rulers have called for measures to be taken against the mullahs in
Tehran before they can develop a nuclear bomb. But there is little
consensus on how close Iran is to building the bomb.

Unstable Pakistan Has US on Edge
The US diplomatic cables provide deep insights into the true extent of

Hamburg Struggles to Get Its Groove Back
Before the Wall came down, several West Germany cities were important
cultural centers. Now Berlin has become a magnet for creative types, and
places like Hamburg are suffering as a result. But the northern city's
efforts to invigorate its arts scene and attract tourists have attracted
criticism from some artists.

'The Demonstrations Against Stuttgart 21 Will Go On'
Protests against Stuttgart 21, the controversial reconstruction of the
city's railway station, will flare up again after Tuesday's arbitration
ruling allowing the project to go ahead, say media commentators. The
issue will remain a headache for Chancellor Angela Merkel's party ahead
of key elections in 2011.

Italian Women Battle for the Middle Ground
In the Italy of Prime Minister Berlusconi, the media is saturated with
almost pornographic images of women who silently and happily suffer
their own objectification. But now that a former television starlet has
risen to become the minister of equal opportunity, there are at least
some fresh hopes for change.
