Keep your eye on them because they will likely be the Democratic turncoats who help the GOP get to 60 on their various deregulatory bills over the next two years.

Charlie Hebdo is a glowing example of fault lines which are not only dividing the East from West. In fact, it is where the battle of inter and intra religious harmony is lost to the few who believe in sword and might to overcome odds.
Ross helps people who are stuck in relationships with narcissists. He explains how people get to that situation, how to get out, and more about narcissists and narcissism.

The Liberal Press, Unmasked
Fifteen years ago, the New York Times was doing their bit to paint a friendly face on an overprivileged, incompetent Texas drunk whose initials are GWB. Now they're shilling for his kid brother. An Act of Love, that's our Jeb. A bedrock of liberalism, that's the New York Times. With friends like this, who needs enemies?

I Just Don't Know
We persist in making predictions, even though we're terrible at it: almost always, we're just extending our beliefs into the future. The aftermath of terrorist incidents shows that we aren't much better at analysis: it merely shifts the possibility of error from future to present.
Kingdom begins public lashing of liberal blogger, Raif Badawi, despite calls for clemency from human rights groups.

The Police Threat Is Too High
We are constantly reminded of how dangerous it is to be a police officer. A total of 50 police officers were reportedly killed last year in the "line of duty," but the police themselves managed to kill 1,029 Americans during the same time period, most of whom were unarmed and innocent of wrongdoings.

American Muslims fear backlash over Paris massacre
American Muslim organizations have strongly condemned the terrorist attack on the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo that killed 12 people but expressed fear of possible backlash and retribution against Muslims in America and Europe.
Rahm Emanuel said, "...never let a serious crisis go to waste."

New York City Police Commissioner William Bratton said Friday that his officers have slowed down their pace of work, especially for minor offenses -- confirming what The New York Post previously described as a "virtual work stoppage" amid low officer morale and heightened tension between the New York City Police Department and Mayor Bill de Blasio. "I've written the mayor off at this point," said Sergeants Benevolent Association President Ed Mullins. "He's in charge of probably the greatest city in the world and he's unable to bridge the relationship with law enforcement."

Dealing with The Vale of Tears

Physicists developing a prototype quantum hard drive have improved storage time by a factor of more than 100. "We believe it will soon be possible to distribute quantum information between any two points on the globe." "Quantum states are very fragile and normally collapse in milliseconds. Our long storage times have the potential to revolutionise the transmission of quantum information." Quantum information promises unbreakable encryption because quantum particles such as photons of light can be created in a way that intrinsically links them. Interactions with either of these entangled particles affect the other, no matter how far they are separated. "We should always be looking to test whether our theories match up with reality. Maybe in this new regime our theory of quantum mechanics breaks."

Advertising at the Movies -- Obnoxious, Punishing
Advertising at movie theatres is obnoxious, pushing. And counter-productive for the film industry.
Optimism doesn't just lead to a better outlook on life, but possibly an improved one as well, as a new study finds it can lead to a healthier heart. "Individuals with the highest levels of optimism have twice the odds of being in ideal cardiovascular health compared to their more pessimistic counterparts." "This association remains significant, even after adjusting for socio-demographic characteristics and poor mental health." Not to mention that they had better blood sugar and total cholesterol levels, and were more physically active and had better BMIs compared to their pessimistic peers.

By analyzing the light of hundreds of thousands of celestial objects, Johns Hopkins astronomers have created a unique map of enigmatic molecules in our galaxy that are responsible for puzzling features in the light from stars. These puzzling features in the light from stars, which astronomers call "Diffuse Interstellar Bands," have been a mystery ever since they were discovered in 1922. Analyses of the light from stars shows unexpected lines that were created by something existing in the interstellar space between the stars and the Earth. Further research showed that these mysterious lines were due to a variety of molecules. But exactly which of many thousands of possible molecules are responsible for these features has remained a mystery for almost a century. "The era of Big Data in astronomy allows us to look at the universe in new ways. This is just the beginning."
This is a helpful video. If any of the ideas prove useful, it's worth the less than 12 minutes it takes to watch it.
Rupert Murdoch has been strongly criticised after tweeting that "most Moslems" -- even if peaceful -- must be held responsible for the religion's "growing jihadist cancer" in the wake of the terror attacks in France. The News Corp boss added his influential voice to the global discussion on terror that has convulsed social media since gunmen slaughtered 12 people at the offices of the satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris on Wednesday.

As was expected, the Corporate Media Propagandists have silenced the criminal activities, including torture, of the Bush/Cheney cabal, thus our nation will continue to be viewed as a rogue state actually the head of the Axis of Evil, as we have committed heinous crimes against humanity, war crimes, and continue killing innocent civilians around the globe and have no internal intent on prosecuting those who have ordered these criminal actions.

The Charlie Hebdo backstory.
The White House let the CIA run wild, but insulated George Bush. And Democrats are letting them get away with it. Feinstein's recommendations may serve to accurately assess the symptoms of what went wrong with torture -- and many other covert operations -- but do little to address the underlying power structures that will permit such atrocities from happening in the future.

Israel's March 2015 Elections
Regardless of the outcome of the March elections, Israel's habitual violence and its ongoing violation of international laws and the standards of human rights will not change. However, sooner or later the boycott, allied to ongoing episodes of Palestinian resistance, will bring Israel to a real crossroads, and then difficult choices will have to be made.
Iran and Venezuela vowed Saturday to work together to stabilize falling global oil prices as Iran's supreme leader accused enemies of using crude prices as a political weapon. With Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro by his side, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani urged OPEC members to "neutralize schemes by some powers against OPEC and help stabilize an acceptable oil price in 2015." Maduro also called for OPEC's co-operation in stabilizing oil prices. Both Iran and Venezuela rely on oil prices to boost their respective economies. Oil prices have plunged more than 55 per cent since June to less than $50 a barrel, placing a severe strain on the two countries. Maduro met with Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who blamed the free-fall in oil prices on enemies. "Our common enemies are using oil as a political weapon and they definitely have a role in the sharp fall in oil price."

Response on charlie hebdo
Freedom of speech is an important right. But it also carries responsibilities. Should immature people light a fire in a gasoline environment? We have a tense world. We should not be surprised at retaliation when there is a lack of judgment.
A Syrian opposition group announced Saturday it will attend a proposed peace conference in Moscow later this month, further highlighting the splits between those opposing President Bashar Assad's government amid the country's grinding civil war. The fractured opposition's opposing decisions make it unclear whether anything will come of the Russian proposal to hold talks after Jan. 20. Assad's government had said it is prepared to participate. Russia is a staunch ally of Assad.

Zimmerman, wearing a blue jumpsuit and handcuffs, appeared before Florida Circuit Judge John D. Galluzzo who offered him a $5,000 bond, ordered him to turn over any firearms and restricted his travel to Seminole County in central Florida.

Piketty for Progressives, Part Six suite et fin
The conclusion of the six-part introduction to Thomas Piketty's Capital in the 21st Century.
The recent Charlie Hebdo terrorist attack in France represents a deeper problem rising across Europe, coping with the growing number of hidden jihadist cells that see this attack as only the dawn of a new wave of international terrorism. Although it has not been confirmed in mainstream media, both Said and Cherif Kouachi each have their own relationships to various jihadist groups. The recent attacks in France are only the beginning of a new era in terrorism that will sweep across the world.

Je Suis Satire
I know many satirists. I don't know any of them who would consider themselves innocent. In fact they would take that as an insult. But to become targets for assassination, at best, would be a source for even more satirization.
