The United States and Germany are prepared to engineer a coup in Greece to keep the country operating as a strategic asset on NATO’s vulnerable southeast European flank.
“A putsch in Athens to save allied Greece from enemy Russia is in preparation by the US and Germany, with backing from the non-taxpayers of Greece – the Greek oligarchs, Anglo-Greek shipowners, and the Greek Church,” writes John Helmer, the longest continuously serving foreign correspondent in Russia not connected to the corporate media.
The primary tip-off something is brewing can be detected by the presence of Victoria Nuland, assistant secretary of state for European and Eurasian affairs, in Athens in March.
Nuland, The Guardian reported on March 17, “flew into the capital amid mounting US concerns that the great euro debt crisis has begun to pose a geopolitical threat. Allowed to veer out of control, Greece could end up in the ambit of Russia, financially bereft and without the EU links that keep it bounded to the west. Nato’s south-eastern flank would be immeasurably weakened at a time of mounting global security worries over Islamic fundamentalists in the Middle East.”
Nuland and the United States may be working closely with Greek military to foment a coup following the historic “No” vote in a referendum of the demands of the banksters.
She is notorious for her role in the overthrow of the democratically elected government of Ukraine and it now appears she has been assigned for a repeat in Greece. Helmer writes that when Nuland visited Athens to issue an ultimatum against breaking the anti-Russian sanctions regime, and the Anglo-American think-tanks followed with warnings the Russian Navy is about to sail into Piraeus, the object of the game [became] clear. The line for Operation Nemesis has been that Greece must be saved, not from itself or from its creditors, but from the enemy in Moscow.
Russia to Rescue Greece from Bankers
Russia is reportedly prepared to help Greece as it battles the banksters on Wall Street and Brussels. It is believed a Greek exit from the eurozone will move the country closer to Russia and deepen divisions within NATO.
Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras of the socialist Syriza party said in mid-June an alignment with Russia is possible and hinted Greece was “ready to go to new seas to reach new safe ports.”
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov and Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum Russia would consider providing loans to Greece if requested.
Greek Military Sends Strong Message
On Friday a number of Greek military officers publicly called for a “yes” vote.
“Retired General Fragkoulis Fragkos, a former defense minister and one-time head of the Greek army general staff, called for a ‘loud yes on Sunday.’ In 2011, Fragkos was cashiered by then-Prime Minister George Papandreou amid rumors of a coup,” writes Alex Lantier.
Clearly referring to Tsipras, Fragkos said that “the moral values and principles that have always defined us Greeks are not under negotiation with any clueless and historically ignorant politician who is advancing his own party interest.”
A group of 65 retired high-ranking officers issued a statement citing their “oath to the Fatherland and the Flag” and warning, “By choosing isolation, we place the Fatherland and its future in danger.”
Tsipras and Syriza prepared for a possible coup in January by shuffling military staff.
“The leadership (of the military and intelligence services) was changed,” sources told Heller, “but not radically. The defense minister (Panos Kammenos) is rightist so there are no ‘radicals’ in command.”
Greek Military is an Operation Gladio Asset
US intervention in Greece is nothing new. Between 1987 and 1989 the US made a concerted effort to overthrow the elected Greek government of Prime Minister Andreas Papandreou.
Prior to this in 1967 the Greek military installed the Regime of the Colonels following a coup d’état .
The Greek military was under the control of the CIA following Greece’s entrance into NATO in 1952. Elements of the Greek military were part of the CIA’s “stay behind” network under Operation Gladio and these elements (specifically LOK, or Lochoi Oreinōn Katadromōn, i.e. “Mountain Raiding Companies”) were directly involved in the 1967 coup.

Finance Minister Schäuble earlier asserted that the Greek crisis will have no serious consequences for the federal budget. However, President of the German Federal Bank Jens Weidmann views the situation in a different way.
Greece’s withdrawal from the Eurozone is likely to create huge ‘holes’ in the federal budget planned by German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schäuble (CDU).
Last Wednesday, Bundesbank President Jens Weidmann warned about the consequences of a Grexit for the Bundesbank’s profit and, hence, the German federal budget, Handelsblatt reported.
According to Weidmann, Germany will have to bear heavy losses in the event of a Grexit. The Bundesbank has already prepared reserves of 14.4 billion euros in the event of a euro crisis. But this would not be enough, the newspaper wrote.
The destiny of Greece is now at the hands of its people who are supposed to vote ‘for’ or ‘against’ proposals made by international creditors. Preliminary results demonstrate that Greek society is split. About 60% of voters rejected the bailout proposals, while about 40% voted in favor of the deal.

The Turkish military has called on all troop commanders stationed along its border with Syria to be present at a meeting aimed at discussing a possible intervention in the crisis-hit country.
The meeting was called by Land Forces Commander General Hulusi Akar and 2nd Army Commander General Adem Huduti following a last week visit to the border region, the Turkish newspaper Hürriyet Daily reported on Sunday.
The meeting is set to take place in the capital city Ankara next week.
The deployment of some 400 armored vehicles and Turkish air force support for such an operation will be on top of agenda at the meeting.
Over the past week, Turkey has bolstered its military presence on its border regions with Syria with tanks, anti-aircraft missiles, and by increasing the number of ground troops to around 54,000 soldiers.
According to AFP, Turkey’s recent military boost has rekindled speculations that the country is planning to push back the ISIL Takfiri terrorists who currently control parts of land in Syria and Iraq and to stop the advance of Kurdish forces battling ISIL in the region.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has vowed to “never allow” the formation of a Kurdish state along Turkey’s southern borders.
On Thursday, Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu ruled out any manner of immediate military intervention in Syria, but his country would “not wait for tomorrow” to act in Syria “in the event of a threat to domestic security”.
Turkey is one of the main supporters of the Takfiri militancy against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, with reports showing that Ankara actively trains and arms the militants operating in Syria, and also facilitates safe passage of would-be foreign terrorists into the country, gripped by crisis since 2011.

Police are circulating this footage after an unsuspecting 52 year-old Navy veteran was knocked to the ground by a street thug and then beaten unconscious.
The Navy veteran NEVER saw it coming.
The suspect is described as a black teenager with braided hair, wearing blue jeans, a white sweat shirt, red tennis shoes and a black baseball cap.
The victim had just exited a trolley on June 13th.
Don’t expect this to make many headlines.
It doesn’t fit the liberal media narrative.
Blacks commit 25 times more violent assaults on Whites.

Unknown hackers leaked a letter addressed to Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk from US Senator Richard Durbin, assuring support and instructing him which key officials should and shouldn’t remain in office.
The letter was published on Facebook page of Leonid Kozhara, Ukraine’s former Minister of Foreign Affairs. Kozhara copied the letter from the website news-front.info, which in turn got it from the website of hacker group cyberguerilla.org. The source said that the original file was allegedly received by the hacker group Anonymous.
The leaked document shows Washington’s clear interference into the domestic issues of Ukraine. US Senators literally stand behind every decision that the Ukrainian Prime Minister makes. Washington doesn’t merely advise Yatsenyuk, it makes decisions for him. The Prime Minister’s job seems to be quite easy — to simply do as he’s told.
In the letter, Durbin assured Yatseniuk that the US Senate was still behind him and was concerned by Poroshenko’s recent removal of some key political figures.
The US Senate also wants Yatsenuyk to keep certain individuals in the office.
“It is necessary to invest every effort to keep Oleksiy Pavlenko in his office of Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food. His discharge will create additional obstacles on the way of widening cooperation between the US and Ukrainian agricultural companies,” the letter said.
At the same time, US Senators told Yatsenyuk not to appoint certain individuals to certain positions:
“Majority of the Senators agree that neither Mr. Demchyshyn, nor Mr. Kostyuk meets the job requirements.”

About 2,000 activists gathered in the Moldovan capital of Chisinau on Sunday to show support of Moldova’s reunification with Romania.
The activists carried flags of Romania and the European Union, sang the Romanian anthem and held signs promoting the unification.
The rally was organized by several groups headed by the Actiunea 2012 (Action 2012). Between 10,000 and 25,000 people were expected to take part in the rally, according to the Actiunea 2012 Saturday press release.
On July 11, the activists plan to hold a unity march in the Romanian city of Iasi and then move to Bucharest.
In May, up to 3,000 people took part in the unionist rally in Chisinau, according to Moldovan police data.
The Actiunea 2012 is a non-governmental organization established in 2011 as one of the major promoters of the unionist ideas, which received a new impulse after the collapse of the USSR and Moldova’s declaration of independence in 1991.
A number of Romanian and Moldovan politicians consider currently Moldova’s strip of land between the Dniester and Prut rivers, historically referred to as Bessarabia, a part of Romanian territory.
