Oliver Sacks, the neurologist and bestselling author who sought to humanize people with brain disorders by portraying their bizarre lives not as litanies of freakish behaviors but as examples of resiliency, died today at 82.
Sacks died in New York after announcing in February that cancer that began in an eye years ago had metastasized to his liver.
