Not to be outdone by Stanford, MIT Media Lab has announced its own course to inspire the "next generation" of bitcoin talent. Thanks to a partnership between its Digital Currency Initiative and its Media Lab Entrepreneurship Program, MIT will join other universities putting bitcoin into the classroom.

The price of bitcoin on the CoinDesk Bitcoin Price Index has fallen below $200 for the first time since January. The plunge saw an average low of $198.23, with the largest plunge taking place on European exchange BTC-e, which saw a low of around $192.

Authorities in Taiwan have reportedly arrested two individuals in connection with the MyCoin Ponzi scheme. The scam resulted in millions of dollars in losses in various Asian countries. Victims were duped into investing in the company, which promised outsized returns on bitcoin investments.

The price of bitcoin slumped again today after Bitfinex closed its order book, citing issues with its post-trade processing. The Hong Kong-based exchange, which witnessed a 'flash crash' just last week, halted trading for a seven-hour period this morning. Bitfinex's price promptly fell a further 3.8% when it reopened.

BTCS Inc (formerly Bitcoin Shop) lost more money than it made during the first half of this year, according to a recent SEC filing. CEO Charles Allen said he views the report as positive for the firm, as it highlighted the company's quarter-over-quarter revenue increase, a success he attributed to a recent pivot.

While the first in the Latin American region, UDLAP joins the number of other global colleges that now host bitcoin ATMs or accept bitcoin in school stores.

Cryptocurrency exchange LakeBTC has enabled GBP and JPY deposits and added the option for customers to trade with the two currencies. The news comes after the exchange announced it would enable its customers to bypass the delays and costs associated with international bank transfers by becoming a Ripple gateway.
