Chinese bitcoin exchange BTCChina has a new name: BTCC. The company said it is changing its name as part of a rebranding effort aimed at internationalizing its image. The exchange will also begin using a new logo and will release a new version of its mobile app as part of the rebranding.

BNP Paribas Fortis has denied it is gearing up to enter the bitcoin space as a digital vault provider. "We do not have a project regarding the bitcoins," a spokesperson said. The comments come after a report in July suggested that BNP Paribas was looking to incorporate bitcoin to one of their currency funds.

Bitcoin-based platform Bitnexo has joint-won the Latin American final of BBVA's Open Talent competition. The startup will receive a €30,000 prize as well as the opportunity to join a two week networking programme alongside winners from the US and European finals.

Court documents show that one of the operators of bitcoin exchange Coin.mx is involved in discussions over a possible plea deal with US prosecutors. Murgio was one of two Coin.mx employees arrested earlier this summer and accused of money laundering and operating an illegal money services business.
