The famed tech entrepreneur joined Stephen Colbert, fresh into taking over ‘Late Night’ from David Letterman, sharing his ambitious plans for the Red Planet. Among other things he casually suggested blasting Mars with a nuclear bomb. The founder of PayPal, Tesla and SpaceX dreams of a space era of reusable rockets. This could significantly drive the costs of space travel down, making Mars a probable destination for as many as a million people, according to Musk. Musk explained how in order to make the red planet hospitable for humans it should be heated up and the fast way to success was none other than an atomic bomb. “The fast way is to drop nuclear weapons over the poles,” he said. There is also a longer, tried and tested on Earth way to heat Mars up: to cause climate change by flooding the planet with greenhouse gases. The transport of choice to reach the planet would of course be – the SpaceX reusable rocket. Elon Musk didn’t flinch when asked about the spectacular failure of the ship’s test. SpaceX tipped over and exploded on landing. Back on Earth, Elon Musk is busy working on a futuristic transportation system that’s faster than an airplane. It’s called the Hyperloop – aluminum passenger pods that would travel in steel tubes mounted on pylons. A public opening of the 5-mile test track in Quay Valley, California is slated for 2018. As for SpaceX, Musk says the rocket will be up and running in three years and he sees it taking NASA astronauts to the International Space Station. At the moment NASA astronauts reach the ISS via Russian Soyuz rockets. Source |

A Guatemalan court has indicted former President Otto Perez Molina on corruption charges. Judge Miguel Angel Galvez on Tuesday ordered Perez to remain in jail while awaiting prosecution on charges of customs fraud, racketeering and bribery. The 64-year-old retired general will remain in custody until the trial in three months’ time. A UN commission tasked with fighting high-level graft in Guatemala helped gather criminal evidence for the case which they say is based on around 89,000 wire-tapped phone calls. Prosecutors and the UN investigators accuse Perez of masterminding a scheme in which businesses bribed corrupt officials to clear their imports through customs at a fraction of the actual tax rate. Prosecutors allege the scheme dubbed “La Linea” (the line) collected USD 3.8 million in bribes between May 2014 and April 2015, including USD 800,000 each to Perez and former vice-president, Roxana Baldetti, who is currently in custody. Perez, whose next court date was set for December 21, has consistently denied any involvement in the scandal. “I don’t understand why I’ve been charged,” the fallen conservative leader told journalists as police escorted him from the court. “There’s not a single piece of evidence,” he said, adding, “I’m sure I have never participated in any criminal network.” The court’s decision came just days after Perez resigned amid growing national outrage over the customs fraud scandal that rattled his government. Perez stepped down on September 3, hours after a Guatemalan judge issued an arrest warrant for him. Hours later, Vice President Alejandro Maldonado, was sworn in as the country’s interim president. Photos stoke concerns that ISIS is exploiting crisis to infiltrate terrorists into the West. Images of “refugees” arriving in Europe who previously fought for jihadist rebel factions in Syria are stoking further concerns that ISIS could be exploiting the crisis to infiltrate terrorists into the west. At least three individuals have been identified entering Europe who have previously been pictured fighting for Al-Qaeda-linked militant groups. The most widely circulated photos are these images of Laith Al Saleh, who was profiled by the Associated Press last month. Al Saleh was the commander of a 700-strong FSA rebel unit in Syria. BBC News attempted to debunk the notion that Al Saleh was a jihadist, despite the fact that the Free Syrian Army fought alongside ISIS and has committed a plethora of war crimes and human rights violations, including forcing a child to behead a prisoner. Another image shows a “refugee” who was previously alleged to have fought alongside Jabhat al-Nusra, an Al-Qaeda offshoot that has been responsible for innumerable atrocities in Syria, including beheadings. A third set of images shows a “refugee” who had previously been pictured heavily armed fighting for a jihadist faction in Syria. After the images were circulated on social media, Hungary’s M1 television reported, “Islamist terrorists, disguised as refugees, have showed up in Europe. [The] pictures were uploaded on various social networks to show that terrorists are now present in most European cities. Many, who are now illegal immigrants, fought alongside Islamic State before.” Although it is likely the men pictured fought with jihadist rebel factions in Syria – not ISIS – many of the so-called “moderate” rebels share the same ideology and went on to join ISIS. “From what I can see in the report it was an investigation of Facebook pages of individuals, who in the past associated with terror groups, and who now on their personal pages are posting pictures of themselves, showing that they are in Germany, they are in the West,” Tony Robinson, co-director of humanitarian organization Pressenza, told RT. “Either way there are almost certainly individuals, who have belonged to terrorist groups in the past, some of them, no doubt will be radicalized to the extent that they will be prepared to commit acts of violence and terrorism against cities of Europe.” Earlier this year, ISIS threatened to flood Europe with half a million migrants as part of a “psychological attack,” fulfilling Colonel Gaddafi’s 2011 warning that the Mediterranean would become a “sea of chaos”. Gaddafi also warned that jihadists would later “conquer Rome”. An ISIS operative revealed last week that the clandestine plan had been a “complete success” and that Islamic State now had infiltrated around 4,000 fighters into Europe as a result of western nations’ generosity towards refugees. “Just wait,” the operative told Buzzfeed. “It’s our dream that there should be a caliphate not only in Syria but in all the world and we will have it soon, God willing.” “They are going like refugees,” he added. “Others just go to Europe to be ready.” As the Sydney Morning Herald reports, in some areas 90% of the migrants arrive claiming they are Syrian refugees yet have no evidence to prove it at all, with many discarding their real IDs before they cross the border. Hypocrisy at its Best! EC President Juncker accused Russia of breaching the “security and borders” of the EU, in Ukraine even though Ukraine is NOT an EU state, while EU itself is being literally INVADED with millions of undocumented Middle Eastern Muslim migrants in what is now known as “the biggest migrant crisis since World War 2”! Where is the damn security now? Some known ISIS terrorists have even been caught on camera, infiltrated among the refugees. Exactly on the same day, Juncker also said that he plans to accept 160,000 Muslim migrants in the EU and accused the EU of being soulless for not taking in more migrants and equally share them. What about the EU borders when they are being breached millions of times by millions of migrants? Don’t these traitorous leftist politician scum have any more limits these days? |

Flooding from Typhoon Etau has caused new leaks of contaminated water to flow from the Fukushima nuclear power station into the ocean. The incident came after a rush of water overwhelmed the site’s drainage pumps. Typhoon Etau brought lashing rains, floods and storm winds to Japan. Tens of thousands of Japanese people have been ordered to leave their homes across the country. Tokyo Electric Power CO. (TEPCO) informed the public today that hundreds of tons of radioactive water had leaked from the facility, but maintained that the incident posed no risk to the environment. Large quantities of contaminated water need to be stored in special reservoirs that were used to cool melted fuel rods from reactors at the TEPCO site, which was damaged by the earthquake and tsunami of 2011. TEPCO had acknowledged the risk of the typhoon to the nuclear site on Tuesday, outlining the preventative measures it was taking. “For heavy rains, TEPCO has standard procedures to install rainwater guttering on the upper part of the water storage tanks and also to construct dikes around groups of tanks, which is applied to all of the recently added storage tanks,” said the statement adding that “the drainage systems on the premises are most active during heavy rains to keep the site from flooding.” Despite Tuesday’s statements asserting that the drainage system would protect the nuclear plant station and the operator company was ready to face the typhoon, today’s announcement would imply that TEPCO’s efforts weren’t enough. To deal with the new leaks, TEPCO said on Thursday that it was sealing off the seaside of the nuclear plant with an “impermeable wall” which would “play a crucial role” in preventing contaminated groundwater from reaching the ocean. Japan’s Meteorological Agency warns that many parts of the country, including the Fukushima prefecture, are still at great risk of heavy rains and further flooding, the International Business Times reports.
