Japanese trading house Itochu is set to become one of the largest shareholders of Extract Resources, owner of the Rossing South uranium project in Namibia, after agreeing to acquire a 10.3% stake in the company.

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) has granted two licences to the Emirates Nuclear Energy Corporation (ENEC) for work related to the country's first nuclear power plant.
Worley Parsons appoints for global nuclear

Djurica Tankosic has been appointed as president of global nuclear development for engineering and consultancy firm Worley Parsons. The company said Tankosic would be responsible for management, organization and development of nuclear business across all of Worley Parsons' activities from a base in London.
Bridging and tunnelling to new AP1000s

China National Nuclear Company has celebrated the completion of the access road to the Taohuajiang nuclear power plant of inland Hunan province. It stretches only 7.5 kilometres but includes a 109-metre bridge, two 24-metre bridges, some 32 culverts totalling 1.2 kilometres and as well as an 855-metre section of tunnel. Taohuajiang is to be China's first inland nuclear power plant and will feature four Westinghouse AP1000s cooled by natural draft towers.
OKG postpones Oskarshamn 2 uprate

Swedish utility OKG announced that it has postponed the final phase of the modernisation of unit 2 of the Oskarshamn nuclear power plant. The company said that the modernisation work, which will increase the unit's net generating capacity by almost 38% from 610 MWe to 840 MWe, has proved to be more extensive and complex than expected.
