Yemen: suicide bomber kills 45 people at funeral wake:
The bomber appeared to have been targeting the head of a group of
tribal fighters that sided with the Yemeni army during an offensive
that drove al-Qaeda-linked militants from their strongholds in the
southern province of Abyan.
15 soldiers killed in checkpoint attack in Egypt's Sinai:
The attack happened immediately after sunset prayer during Iftar
when the troops were suddenly attacked by masked gunmen. After
exchanging fire, the attackers escaped and the security forces were
still pursuing them.
Egyptian village purged of Christians after riot:
Dahshour's entire Christian community - as many as 100 families
some estimate - fled to nearby towns in the violence earlier this week.
The flock's priest, cloaked in a white sheet to hide him, was taken out
in a police van. At least 16 homes and properties of Christians were
pillaged and some torched and a church damaged.
3 policemen among 4 killed in Iraq attacks:
Attacks mainly targeting Iraqi security forces killed four people,
among them three policemen, and wounded nine on Sunday, security and
medical officials said.

Two New Zealand soldiers have been killed and six wounded in a

Afghan President Hamid Karzai accepted on Sunday a vote by the
country's parliament to dismiss his two top security ministers, but
ordered both to remain in their jobs pending replacement, a move aimed
at safeguarding fragile stability.

As the Syrian Army expelled rebel forces out of the capital of
Damascus, soldiers discovered a mass grave of 20 corpses buried under
rocks and other debris.
