In the last few days since the mass shootings at the offices of the Parisian satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, and a Paris Kosher supermarket which left 17 dead, France has seen massive demonstrations in support of the victims and their families, a catchy but misplaced meme of solidarity with the slogan "Je suis Charlie", and a string of anti-Muslim hate speech and attacks. The head of the French National Police is warning of "further attacks", the government is pushing a hard-line stance in the war on terror, and the country is on red alert. Some are calling it France's 9/11. That could be closer to the truth than they intend to convey by making that particular connection, assuming anyone knows the real culprits behind the 9/11 attacks.

To see why, first let's take a look at the Paris attack, the suspects, and what the media has been telling us about them.

Defending free speech and free press rights, which typically means defending the right to disseminate the very ideas society finds most repellent, has been one of my principal passions for the last 20 years: previously as a lawyer and now as a journalist. So I consider it positive when large numbers of people loudly invoke this principle, as has been happening over the last 48 hours in response to the horrific attack on Charlie Hebdo in Paris.

Usually, defending free speech rights is much more of a lonely task. For instance, the day before the Paris murders, I wrote an article about multiple cases where Muslims are being prosecuted and even imprisoned by western governments for their online political speech - assaults that have provoked relatively little protest, including from those free speech champions who have been so vocal this week.
Comment: Greenwald absolutely nails it. Good job, Glenn! The hypocrisy is just astounding, and points to a very ugly underbelly beneath all this talk of 'freedom of speech'. The intent is not freedom, it is demonization. See also: The Saker: I am NOT Charlie

Boko Haram, the extremist Islamic group that wants to enforce Sharia Law across Nigeria, has inflicted mass casualties in northeast Nigeria. Some reports put the number of fatalities as high as 2,000.

Amnesty International, communicating with experts on the ground in Nigeria, has said the assault on the town of Baga could be the deadliest attack by Boko Haram since the extremist group surfaced in 2009.

"The attack on Baga and surrounding towns looks as if it could be Boko Haram's deadliest act in a catalogue of increasingly heinous attacks carried out by the group," said Daniel Eyre, Nigeria researcher for Amnesty International.

Amnesty International has quoted some sources that say the town has been razed, with as many as 2,000 people killed. If true, that would mark a "disturbing and bloody escalation of Boko Haram's ongoing onslaught against the civilian population," Eyre added.

Corroborating claims by French security agencies, a bizarre interview conducted just before the death of terror suspect Chérif Kouachi reveals that he had been in Yemen and in direct contact with none other than Anwar Al Awaki - the notorious Al Qaeda leader allegedly killed in a drone strike in Yemen in 2011.

The UK Mirror in an article titled, "Paris shootings: Listen to terrorist Amedy Coulibaly's bizarre conversation with hostage during supermarket siege," quoted Kouachi as saying:
We are just telling you we are the defenders of the prophet and that I Chérif Kouachi have been sent by Al Qaida of Yemen and that I went over there and that Anwar Al Awaki financed me.
Not only was Anwar Al Awaki a senior leader in Al Qaeda, he also infamously spent dinner with top brass at the Pentagon shortly after the September 11, 2001 attacks in Washington, New York, and over Pennsylvania.
Comment: If reports that Cherif was happy to be stopped in 2005 are true, it's reasonable to wonder if he was 'turned' by French intelligence into an informant, like the FBI regularly does in the States. From there, it's a simple matter to control such a person, even to the point of using them as a patsy in a scripted terror attack. It's standard operating procedure, after all. The deadly events that unfolded in France over the last week may be the first in a wave of attacks to strike Europe, a German daily reports, citing NSA intercepts of communications between Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) leaders.

Paris was marked as the first in a series of European cities to be attacked, including Rome, the report in the German tabloid Bild read. However, the article didn't furnish details of a concrete plan to launch an attack.

The US National Intelligence Agency (NSA) also reportedly had information that Cherif and Said Kouachi, the brothers who carried out the mass shooting at the French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo, had contacts in the Netherlands.
Comment: Of course, the NSA is in a position to know of any future terror attacks, considering that the recent shootings in Paris had the hallmarks of a classic false-flag operation. Either that, or they were a consequence of state-sponsored terrorism. See:

On Sunday, NBC's Meet the Press spent the majority of its program discussing the fallout of the terrorist attack in Paris, France and how the world should respond. While much of the program focused on the challenges associated with identifying and stopping such attacks, NBC News reporter Ayman Mohyeldin chose to partially blame American foreign policy for the rise of Islamic extremism.

Speaking during a pre-recorded segment from Dearborn, Michigan, Mohyeldin argued that "for some, radicalization and attacks against the U.S. stems from anger at American foreign policies and wars in the Middle East."

Comment: There is actually very little "radical Islam" that exists beyond what is created, funded, and armed by the Western governments/intelligence agencies. While there is probably a lot of anger in Islamic countries over what Western governments are doing to the people of the Middle East and elsewhere, that anger does not turn into violence against Westerners. Incidents like the Charlie Hebdo attacks are false flags set up by agencies like the CIA, Mossad, and MI6 to further incite anti-Islamic sentiments around the globe and also introduce draconian security measures in those countries.

The segment began with the NBC reporter highlighting how America's Muslim leaders are working with the local community to assimilate "a constant stream of new immigrants" entering the United States. After detailing how American Muslims assimilate at higher rates than their European counterparts, Mohyeldin insisted that U.S. actions have contributed to radicalism:
For some, radicalization and attacks against the U.S. stems from anger at American foreign policies and wars in the Middle East. While the overwhelming majority of muslims have successfully assimilated and integrated into U.S. society, the challenge remains to find individuals who may be on the fringes of the communities and are also alienated.

Governments from around the world admit they've used the bully's trick ... attack first, and then blame the victim:
  • Japanese troops set off a small explosion on a train track in 1931, and falsely blamed it on China in order to justify an invasion of Manchuria. This is known as the "Mukden Incident" or the "Manchurian Incident". The Tokyo International Military Tribunal found: "Several of the participators in the plan, including Hashimoto [a high-ranking Japanese army officer], have on various occasions admitted their part in the plot and have stated that the object of the "Incident" was to afford an excuse for the occupation of Manchuria by the Kwantung Army ...." And see this
  • A major with the Nazi SS admitted at the Nuremberg trials that - under orders from the chief of the Gestapo - he and some other Nazi operatives faked attacks on their own people and resources which they blamed on the Poles, to justify the invasion of Poland. Nazi general Franz Halder also testified at the Nuremberg trials that Nazi leader Hermann Goeringadmitted to setting fire to the German parliament building in 1933, and then falsely blaming the communists for the arson

In the wake of the terrorist attack by self-proclaimed Al-Qaeda operatives killing 12 people including 8 journalists from the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo, the Western elite and mainstream media display of compassion and indignation highlights their complaisance towards Western and Israeli state terrorism.

Before exploring the broader issue, it should be noted that while the Paris attacks bear the hallmarks of a possible false flag, such as the ID card left in the car by one terrorist, an examination of the false flag hypothesis is excluded outright, completely ignored by the mainstream media. Moreover, one of the alleged terrorists, Cherif Kouachi told a French news outlet he had been financed by former Al Qaeda leader Anwar Al Awlaki, an American cleric who dined at the Pentagon a few months after 9/11 and «worked as a triple agent and an FBI asset well before 9/11», according to U.S. Lt.Col. Anthony Shaffer. (Kurt Nimmo, FBI Admits Pentagon Dinner Guest Al-Awlaki Worked for Them, Infowars, August 2, 2012)

Since the deadly attacks on January 7, 2015, the Western media, especially the French Canadian media, claim in a very ethnocentric manner that "the planet is mourning" the death of the French journalists. This tragic event which needs to be condemned must be examined in an appropriate context. People in countries where France has been bombing civilians, through NATO and U.S.-led military invasions, and where Western-backed terrorists kill innocent civilians (Libya, Syria) are routinely mourning the death of their own people. These deaths remain unreported. The Western world is not "the planet" and not "everyone is Charlie", contrary to what the media leads us to believe.

It is documented fact that the private vaccine industry receives large cash payments from the federal government to produce "life-saving" and "emergency" vaccines that the public is told are necessary to thwart certain disease crises. But did you know that many of these vaccines are never even manufactured, and not only are vaccine companies paid with your money (if you're a taxpayer) regardless, but they are also awarded special accounting privileges that claim these payments as revenue?

During a recent segment on The Robert Scott Bell Show, certified public accountant (CPA) Ty Bollinger explains how many childhood vaccines, as well as the influenza vaccine, are basically exempted from normal revenue recognition rules. These special rules allow vaccine companies to immediately recognize revenue from vaccines for stock price and profit purposes, even if those vaccines are never manufactured or delivered.
Comment: Although it's never a bad day when sickness-inducing vaccines aren't produced or delivered, one can't help but be taken aback by the boundless crookedness of both the US government and Big Pharma.

amedy_coulibaly_si.jpg

A video of Amedy Coulibaly, who murdered a policewoman and killed four hostages in a Parisian kosher supermarket, has emerged online. He swears his allegiance to the Islamic State in the clip and attempts to justify the wave of terror attacks.

Coulibaly talks of being a "soldier of the Caliphate" and states that he coordinated his plans with the brothers Cherif and Said Kouachi, who perpetrated a bloody massacre at the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo on Wednesday.

Coulibaly asserted that 'France is a legitimate target.' He is referred to as Aboü Bassir AbdAllah al-Ifriqip and wears military body armor, displays an array of weapons and does push-ups.

He pledges his allegiance to "Caliph Ibrahim", also known as Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, the self-proclaimed leader of the Islamic State and speaks about the attack on the policewoman in the past tense, suggesting the attack had already been completed.

In the background of the video, radio news is already documenting the attacks on the Charlie Hebdo offices.

All the jihadists belonged to the same terrorist cell, according to French police. Coulibaly discusses how they coordinated with one another.

"If we did things a bit together and a bit separately it was to have more impact," Coulibaly stated.

Amply documented, the French Republic under the helm of president Francois Hollande is supporting as well as funding Al Qaeda affiliated terrorists.

"The forbidden truth" which the French public should address is that their government together with the US, NATO and Israel - while waging a self-proclaimed "Global War on Terrorism" - routinely provide covert support to the same terrorist entities which are the object of their "humanitarian wars" and "counter-terrorism operations".

While the French media in chorus point to the jihadist threat to "Freedom of Expression", not a single French media has had the courage of raising the broader issue of State sponsorship of terrorismand the insidious role of the French government and its intelligence apparatus in supporting Al Qaeda affiliated entities not only in the Middle East and Africa but also in France.

In a bitter irony, the campaign following the terrorist attack on Charlie Hebdo has not contributed to sustaining "Freedom of Expression". In fact quite the opposite. It has contributed to a new wave of media censorship.

There is a gruesome political agenda behind these attacks which must be the object of public debate. Who are the terrorists? Those who commit terrorist acts or those who control and finance the terrorists?
Comment: While the French media in chorus point to "Freedom of Expression" in journalism, not a single French media has had the courage of pointing to the issue of State sponsorship of terrorism, in Syria and elsewhere.

When muslims kill someone, it's called "terrorism", but when the West kills scores of muslims it's called "humanitarian wars" or "counter-terrorism operations".

The female accomplice of a gunman involved in the Paris killings is believed to have left France before the Friday attacks, and has crossed the Turkish border into Syria, Reuters reported, citing security sources.

After three armed attackers were killed in two police raids on Friday, authorities launched a massive search operation for the female accomplice identified as Hayat Boumeddiene, 26. The woman was said to be "armed and dangerous."

Comment: Yes, her weapon of choice is a cross-bow.

Boumeddiene is reportedly a partner of Amedy Coulibaly, who is believed to have shot a policewoman on Thursday before storming into a Parisian kosher market on Friday, where he shot four hostages. Coulibaly was killed in a police assault.

A source told Reuters that Boumeddiene left France last week and took a plane to Syria via Turkey.

"On January 2, a woman corresponding to her profile and presenting identity papers took a flight from Madrid to Istanbul," a source familiar with the situation told Reuters.

She reportedly had a return ticket for January 9, but never took that flight. Boumeddiene was traveling with an unnamed man.

A senior Turkish security official revealed that France and Turkey are now cooperating in the search.

"After they informed us about her ... we identified her mobile phone signal on Jan 8," the source said. "We think she is in Syria at the moment but we do not have any evidence about that ... She is most probably not in Turkey," the source said, adding the last time her phone appeared online was Thursday.

An official photograph of Boumeddiene released by French police depicts a young-looking woman with long dark hair. Meanwhile, French media released other photos, showing her fully-veiled with a cross-bow. The caption of the picture states that the shot is from a training session.

dershowitz_prosor.jpg

Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz always felt children were fair game for Israeli missiles. Now the question is whether he thinks they are fair game for the sexual exploits of his powerful associates and himself.

Dershowitz and the UK's Prince Andrew were accused in a recent court filing of raping a teenage girl who was forced into sexual slavery by Dershowitz's close friend and client, billionaire hedge fund financier and convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. The court filing is part of an ongoing civil lawsuit by four of Epstein's victims accusing the federal government of violating the Crime Victims' Rights Act (CVRA) when it made a secret 2008 plea deal with Epstein without informing them.

Dershowitz played a key role in negotiating a secret provision in Epstein's plea deal that immunized "any potential co-conspirators" from federal prosecution. In other words, Dershowitz negotiated an agreement that (if the allegations against him are true) shields him from prosecution for participating in a child sex-trafficking ring.

Since there has been no trial to determine whether Dershowitz and Prince Andrew are liable for the allegations against them, which they categorically deny, they should be presumed innocent until proven otherwise.

That said, while the mainstream press revives its interest in Epstein and reproduces strongly worded denials from Dershowitz and representatives of Prince Andrew, it has overlooked the role of Epstein's social network in building up his influence and shielding him from accountability. Media coverage of Epstein has been particularly derelict in failing to note the pivotal role of Alan Dershowitz, Israel's most aggressive defender, in securing near impunity for a sexual predator and his accomplices by bullying, harassing, intimidating and smearing child victims of rape.
Comment: In his book, Ponerology, Lobaczewski remarked that psychopaths form groups of like-minded creatures:
The average intelligence of the psychopath, especially if measured via commonly used tests, is somewhat lower than that of normal people, albeit similarly variegated. Despite the wide variety of intelligence and interests, this group does not contain examples of the highest intelligence, nor do we find technical or craftsmanship talents among them. The most gifted members of this kind may thus achieve accomplishments in those sciences which do not require a correct humanistic world view or practical skills. [...]
Epstein fits the bill here, in that his skill is in stock trading. No need for a conscience. Dershowitz is able to bend his mind into any shape required for him to defend the lowest of the low..
In spite of their deficiencies in normal psychological and moral knowledge, they develop and then have at their disposal a knowledge of their own, something lacked by people with a natural world view. They learn to recognize each other in a crowd as early as childhood, and they develop an awareness of the existence of other individuals similar to them. They also become conscious of being different from the world of those other people surrounding them. They view us from a certain distance, like a para-specific variety. Natural human reactions - which often fail to elicit interest to normal people because they are considered self-evident - strike the psychopath as strange
and, interesting, and even comical. They therefore observe us, deriving conclusions, forming their different world of concepts. They become experts in our weaknesses and sometimes effect heartless experiments. The suffering and injustice they cause inspire no guilt within them, since such reactions from others are simply a result of their being different and apply only to "those other" people they perceive to be not quite conspecific. Neither a normal person nor our natural world view can fully conceive nor properly evaluate the existence of this world of different concepts.

charliehebdo_police.jpg

French Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve says the terrorists who attacked Charlie Hebdo would never have been caught had they not made one fatal mistake: They conveniently left an ID card in their abandoned getaway car.

Since when did criminals leave their identification cards in abandoned getaway cars?

An ordinary citizen, taking no precautions, might accidentally leave a wallet or purse in their parked car. I have driven automobiles approximately 50,000 times in my life, and I think my wallet might have slipped out of my pocket and fallen into the crack between the driver's seat and the door...once.

What are the odds that skilled terrorists who have just carried out an ultra-professional special-forces style attack will accidentally leave their ID card in the abandoned getaway car? Answer: Effectively zero.

So why are police reporting an event that cannot have happened?

Assuming that French police really did find "terror suspect" Said Kouachi's ID card in an abandoned getaway car, that ID card must have been planted by someone wishing to incriminate Kouachi. Even the legendary French idiot detective, Inspector Clouseau, could not fail to make this thunderingly obvious inference.

The discovery of Kouachi's ID does not implicate him; it exonerates him. It shows that he is an innocent patsy who is being framed by the real perpetrators of the attack.

Comment: Kouachi and his brother may have been involved in some way, but with their deaths at the hands of the French police, we will never get near the truth. The pattern of entrapment and framing is an old police tactic as Kevin details below. Certainly the FBI has used it multiple times, creating and then "foiling" terrorist plots in the US.

Police and intelligence agencies routinely plant evidence to support false narratives, convict innocent people, and exonerate themselves. American police who kill unarmed citizens often plant a gun on the corpses to support their claims of having killed in self-defense. Such throw-down guns, which the police call "ham sandwiches," are kept in police locker rooms and carried in police cars in case they are needed.
Comment: From a broader view, this horrific event could be seen as the latest warning to France about getting too bold in conducting her own foreign policy. The US imperialists could not be that happy about the "impromptu" meeting with Putin, calling for the sanctions on Russia to be lifted, or wavering on the suspended deal for the Mistral warship sale to Russia.

Speaking outside Elysée Palace in the aftermath of this week's terror killings in France, former President Nicolas Sarkozy condemned the violence as "an attack on civilization." Coiffured, sun-tanned and nattily dressed, Sarkozy's solemn words made him appear like the embodiment of civility.

That's a quaint turn in etiquette by a politician who is mired in allegations of sleaze and corruption, as well as war crimes.

Sarkozy wasn't too concerned about "civilization" when he and his British allies launched the NATO bombing campaign of Libya in March 2011 in stark violation of a UN mandate. That seven-month onslaught led to the murder of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi - from whom Sarkozy had gladly received hush-hush political donations in the past, before stabbing him in the back.

The illegal French-led NATO blitzkrieg on Libya subverted a constitutional government and resulted in the ongoing destruction of one of Africa's most economically developed countries.Libya has been sacked to become a failed state, over-run by extremist Takfiri militia and tribal warlords, whose warped ideology is shared by the ISIS terror network destroying Syria and Iraq. The same ideology includes the armed adherents who struck this week in Paris, killing more than a dozen people.
Comment: Well thank goodness someone somewhere is pointing out the incredibly bad joke that is being played on the world with the criminally hypocritical and rhetorical bullshit we are now hearing about 'free speech'. It comes down to the fact that we are freer and freer to lie, but ever less free to speak truth.

Most Americans are under the influence of TV and radio sources for the daily dose of propaganda. Not understanding they are being lied to and made to believe a lie It becomes a formidable task to get folks to see the light. They want to see, it's just the lie is so big, so pervasive at this point it is hard for people to grasp the size of the depth and breadth the lie has reached. For me, and you may disagree, propaganda is nothing more than a lie that has been presented as truth and is intended to influence how people live and think. As you read you will see that I use the words "lie" and "propaganda" interchangeably - they are the same thing for the purposes of this article and my life.

A Hamburg daily that reprinted satirical cartoons from French newspaper Charlie Hebdo was hit by arsonists at the weekend, raising security concerns in Germany on the eve of a planned mass rally against Islam in the city of Dresden.

Islamist militant attacks on Charlie Hebdo and a kosher deli in Paris this week that killed 17 people have fuelled fears of similar assaults in other European countries and prompted a warning from German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere.

"I am very concerned about well-prepared perpetrators like those in Paris, Brussels, Australia or Canada," he told the newspaper Bild am Sonntag. There were about 260 people in Germany regarded as dangerous Islamists, he said.

Bild am Sonntag said U.S. intelligence agencies had tapped conversations of senior Islamic State (IS) members in which they said the Paris attacks were the start of a series in Europe.

In Hamburg, two people were arrested after an incendiary device was thrown into a building of the Hamburger Morgenpost daily, setting some documents on fire, police said.
Comment: Cleary, the people behind the Charlie Hebdo attacks are not finished spreading fear and Islamophobia through Europe. The question is, who is really behind these attacks:

An editor asks listeners if it's OK to publish Muhammad Cartoons and the Chechen responds with threats of violence. Is this how it works now?

10_kad6.jpg

The fallout from the murderous rampage against Charlie Hebdo spilled over the North Caucuses and Moscow on Friday. The leader of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, threatened Radio Echo of Moscow after it ran a poll, asking its listeners whether media, in reaction to Wednesday's murders of the Charlie Hebdo journalists, should publish cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad. A majority of Echo's listeners, 68 percent, said "yes," the cartoons should be published and 30 percent said "no."

Less than an hour later, Kadyrov posted on Twitter that that Echo's editor-in-chief, Aleksei Venediktov, had insulted Muslims and said, "There are those who will bring Venediktov to account."

"Venediktov has long ago converted Echo of Moscow into the main anti-Islamic horn," Kadyrov wrote next to his own portrait, which shows him pointing at the sky, muscles bulging, and rings on his fingers. If authorities did not restrict the radio that "incites animosity and hatred among people and nations," Kadyrov went on, "There will be people to make Venediktov responsible." A dangerous statement in the country where a number of journalists, including Anna Politkovskaya and Natalya Estemirova, have been assassinated by Chechen nationals.

Comment: In an interview in 2010, Venediktov stated:
"...we are rigorously law abiding. We take great care to insure that we don't infringe the outer aspects of the law. ...[I]n the eyes of the authorities we are a showcase for the West, demonstrating that Russia has free speech. And of course we exploit our position. ...[W]e have become a genuine source of information for people who make decisions. [...] The presidential administration and the White House bureaucracy [in Moscow] listen to our forum and look out for what happens in it. [On the topic of data] I have independent sources, which may coincide with what the Kremlin has to say, or may not. They check out our data - it's a kind of model for self-correction. I also think this may be what allows Ekho Moskvy to exist in the form it does.

"Our job is to clarify what rights people have. (Question: Do you feel like the last bastion of free speech?) No. I feel like a professional. It seems to me that we are doing a professional job and we don't think in terms of free speech. We could see the threat. People started censoring themselves because no one wanted to end up on the streets...we didn't change our tone. Eighty-three percent of our listeners have been through higher education, [are] independent people; can't be forced to merge with the crowd...with a strong sense of self-esteem...are individualists. [...] We don't have a messianic mission - our job is to inform and entertain. [...] (Regarding self-censorship) It's fear. The new generation see it as the norm of course. ...they understand that one shouldn't allow oneself to do it, but they don't think why. This shouldn't be happening."
Nice self-propaganda, but at least he reveals his true allegiances: the West, i.e., the Anglo-Zionist empire, i.e., not Russia.

A pastor at the Bible Baptist Church in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey is coming under fire after his church posted a video of him claiming to have converted a "smart aleck" youth by "punching him in the chest as hard as I could."

Pastor Eric Dammann begins by saying that he met a young man in Calgary named "Ben," who was "a nice kid, but one of those - he was a real smart aleck. He was a bright kid, which didn't help things -made him more dangerous."

"We were outside one day at youth group," Dammann continues, "and he was just trying to push my buttons. He was just kind of not taking the Lord serious [sic]."
Comment: Interesting last name of the pastor. So it's okay to use violence against someone questioning the religion? Apparently so with this pastor who considers a smart person as dangerous. Appalling!

Financial investor Mike "Mish" Shedlock pointed out in a recent column that there has been an incredible surge of withdrawals from Greek banks in recent months.

In November, there was roughly €220 million withdrawals from Greek banks, but in December that number jumped all the way up to €3 billion.

Greeks are depositing much less money in the bank as well. Deposits in Greek banks have dropped by 37% since 2010.

Investment experts are warning Greeks to take their assets out before there is a run on the banks. However, politicians are urging the public to remain calm.

Police commissioner Helric Fredou, who had been investigating the attack on the French weekly satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo, committed suicide in his office. The incident occurred in Limoges, the administrative capital of the Limousin region in west-central France, on Thursday night, local media France 3 reports.

Helric Fredou, 45, suffered from depression and experienced burn out. Shortly before committing suicide, he met with the family of a victim of the Charlie Hebdo attack and killed himself preparing the report.

Fredou began his career in 1997 as a police officer at the regional office of the judicial police of Versailles. Later he returned to Limoges, his hometown. Since 2012 he had been the deputy director of the regional police service.

"We are all shocked. Nobody was ready for such developments", a representative of the local police union told reporters.

On January 7, 2015, two gunmen burst into the editorial office of Charlie Hebdo magazine, known for issuing cartoons, ridiculing Islam. The attackers, later identified as brothers Said and Cherif Kouachi, killed 12 people and injured 11, and escaped from the scene. Following two days of nationwide manhunt, the suspects were killed on Friday by French police some 20 miles northeast of Paris.

Why would the government want to punish people that are just trying to work hard, become more self-sufficient and take care of their families?

There are approximately 3 million preppers in the United States today, and often they appear to be singled out for punishment by bureaucratic control freaks that are horrified at the thought that there are families out there that actually want to try to become less dependent on the system.

So if you use alternative methods to heat your home, or if you are not connected to the utility grid, or if you collect rainwater on your property, or if you believe that parents should have the ultimate say when it comes to health decisions for their children, you could become a target for overzealous government enforcers.
Comment: It seems the government doesn't want free thinking people making a better life for themselves. They want the population dependent on them in order to have complete control of the people.

With the economy going downhill to eventual collapse, it would be wise to start preparing despite the government crackdown.

Seventy one years ago -- December 22, 1942 -- Congress got the United States out of what had turned into an unexpectedly embarrassing situation.

It concerned the Pledge of Allegiance -- specifically, something called the Bellamy Salute.

Most people today have likely never heard of it, but the Bellamy Salute was once a constant part of the country's life.

Daniel Sharp Ford, the owner of a magazine called Youth's Companion, was on a crusade to put American flags in every school in the country. He sensed that the U.S. needed a boost of patriotism. Keep in mind: Not even 30 years before, the Civil War had still been raging. National unity was a fragile concept.

As part of the campaign, Sharp gave an assignment to a member of his staff: Francis J. Bellamy, who was an author, a minister and an advocate of the tenets of Christian socialism. Sharp asked Bellamy to compose a Pledge of Allegiance to the flag. Bellamy wrote it, and it was published in the magazine.

A camel trampled two people to death over the weekend at a farm in Texas, authorities said.

Peggye McNair, 72, the owner of the farm and a well-known camel breeder, was one of the victims of the attack Saturday, police told CNN affiliate KFDX.

The incident at Camel Kisses Farm in Wichita Falls happened after Mark Mere, 53, got into a pen with three camels - one male and two females.

Mere apparently went into the holding pen because the animals' water trough had frozen over.

The male camel was in rut and became very aggressive, Wichita County Sheriff David Duke said. Rut is a male animal's peak period of fertility and sexual excitement.

As manatees recover in Florida, their U.S. home base, more and more seem to be showing up farther west along the Gulf of Mexico.

A total of seven stranded manatees had been reported along the Alabama coast before 2007, when a network to report strandings and sightings was created. Since then, "we've responded to dozens" of strandings, said Ruth Carmichael, head of the Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Manatee Sighting Network for Alabama and Mississippi.

"I think things are changing, in the manatee population and in the environment," she said Tuesday. She said scientists know there are more of the big, gentle marine mammals than there used to be. "But habitat is stable or declining. Animals are being forced to do something. The natural thing would be to spread out."

In hope of gathering enough data to learn whether her impression is accurate, she's now working with people in Louisiana and Texas to expand the network - "as far as I know, the only manatee sighting network in the country" - to those states.

A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.0 struck late Saturday off San Antonio in the province of Zambales in the western Philippines, local seismologists said.

The quake occurred 43 kilometers (26.7 miles) from San Antonio at the depth of 85 kilometers (52.8 miles) under the South China Sea, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

There has been no tsunami warning or casualties reported, following the earthquake.

Magnitude 3 or lower earthquakes are weak or almost imperceptible, while magnitude 7 earthquakes and over potentially cause serious damage over larger areas, depending on their depth.

In October 2013, a 7.2-magnitude earthquake hit the central part of the Philippines, killing 220 people and injuring thousands. Over 13,200 houses were destroyed.

Circumcised boys have a much higher chance of developing attention-deficit disorder and autism by age 10, the hotly debated research from Denmark says. But not all experts are comfortable with the "extremely speculative findings."

The risk is doubled if a boy is circumcised before five, the Statens Serum Institut study also claims. The link, they say, is in the stress caused by the pain of being snipped.

Scientists based their findings on results they received from examining 340,000 boys between 1994 and 2003.
Comment: Norway has the right idea. Circumcision, male and female, is a barbaric practice that should have stopped generations ago. See: We Need To Stop Circumcision

The fabulous taste of bacon is more popular than ever. But if you are eating conventionally-produced bacon or other pork products, chances are great that you are consuming ractopamine, a livestock growth altering drug so dangerous that 160 countries around the world have banned its use

Not the U.S. though, where this chemical additive has been given the green light by the FDA, in spite of the fact that it endangers livestock and farm workers as well as consumers.

Although the EU and Asia have banned ractopamine, estimates are that 80% of hogs produced in the U.S. and a lesser number of beef cattle are treated with the drug. In fact since 2013, Smithfield Foods a former U.S. company and the world's largest producer of pork products, is now working for China and Russia producing ractopamine-free pork.

Of course some of Smithfield's remaining U.S. plants still spit out ractopamine-laced products for American consumption. Smithfield refers to these as delivering "differentiated products to meet customer specifications."
