Feel The Bern! One of the reasons communist Bernie Sanders is doing well with Millennials is because he’s promising free college for everyone.
In an ultimate twist of irony, his wife Jane Sanders was president of Burlington College in Vermont and racked up such large debts for the small school that she led it to ruin.
Burlington College announced today it will close after it was unable to recover from the crushing debt incurred under during Jane Sanders’ tenure as president of the institution.
Heat Street reported:
Burlington College announced today that it will close on May 27 after it found itself unable to recover from “the crushing weight of the debt” incurred under Jane O’Meara Sanders, the college’s former president and wife of Bernie Sanders.
At the end of 2010, Ms. Sanders took out $10 million in loans on behalf of Burlington College to purchase a 32-acre swathe of land from the Roman Catholic diocese, which put the land up for sale to help cover the costs of a $17 million sexual-abuse settlement.
As Heat Street reported last month, the college almost immediately fell short on its financial obligations as fundraising pledges and commitments Ms. Sanders cited in the loan agreements never materialized.
Less than a year after leading Burlington College into massive debt, Ms. Sanders resigned, taking with her a $200,000 severance package. By 2014, because of its shaky finances and running deficits, Burlington College found itself placed on probation for two years by the regional accreditation agency.
A Burlington College news release issued this morning called these financial hurdles “insurmountable at this time.”
“We anticipate notice from [the regional accreditation agency] that we have not met the Commission’s financial standard,” the news release said, “and, therefore, our accreditation will be lifted as of January 2017, and the College will not be able to award academic credit after this time.”

To protect the Australian Olympic team from potential exposure to the Zika virus, Aussie pharmaceutical company Starpharma announced it will team up with world No2 condom maker Ansell to supply virus-proof condoms for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro games.
The Australian Olympic team will be provided with antiviral Dual Protect VivaGel condoms for the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, scheduled to begin in August.
“Starpharma is delighted to play a role in supporting Australian athletes as they compete on the world-stage at the Olympic Games in Rio,” said Starpharma CEO Dr Jackie Fairley.
The Chef de Mission for the Australian team, Kitty Chiller endorsed the offer by the pharmaceutical firm, saying: “The health and wellbeing of the team comes first and our association with Starpharma will provide extra protection for everyone on the team, and is a common sense approach to a very serious problem we are facing in Rio.”
Besides offering the typical condom layer of protection, the condom’s lubricant contains a gel with antiviral agent, which was developed to kill a number of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) such as HIV, HSV (genital herpes) and HPV (human papillomavirus).
Although Zika is a mosquito-borne virus, in late March, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention warned that men diagnosed with the Zika virus should wait at least six months before having unprotected sex, as the virus remains active in semen.
Taking the latest research and warnings into account the company conducted more VivaGel tests that “showed near-complete antiviral protection against Zika virus,” the company said in a statement.
As no vaccine against Zika virus exists, Starpharma believes their choice of condoms will be the best way to protect athletes at the summer competitions.
“Given sexual transmission of Zika virus is of increasing importance the potent activity of Starpharma’s VivaGel® against Zika could prove very significant,” Fairley said.
Olympic organizers in Rio have already announced a number of measures to shield the public from the virus. Organizers are offering more than 450,000 free condoms to athletes at the Rio village. The free condom dispensing machines will be available to athletes to include roughly 300,000 male condoms and 100,000 female condoms in addition to 175,000 sachets of lubricants.
In February 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the Zika virus outbreak a global emergency. It now affects more than 40 countries in total, 20 of which are found in the Americas. The most significant outbreak, and resulting effects on babies, has been reported in Brazil, where an estimated one million people have already been infected with Zika.
Zika virus infection is of particular concern during pregnancy. The CDC recently confirmed that there is now enough evidence to conclude that Zika virus infection during pregnancy is a cause of microcephaly and other severe fetal brain defects. It has also been linked to problems in infants, including eye defects, hearing loss and impaired growth.
On Sunday, the mayor of Rio once again reassured the world that the Zika virus will not affect the Olympics.
“There’s not many cases of the Zika virus, especially in the city of Rio. There is the issue with pregnant women and this is something we need to take care of, but I don’t know anyone who’s got the Zika virus and I know a lot of people so this is not a big issue,” Eduardo Paes told Sky News.
“You’ve got to come and enjoy,” he said. “It is an amazing city, an amazing place. People are completely safe here.”

Swedish police have been attacked in 14 so-called ‘no-go zones’ with knives and hand grenades, and are bracing for more violence this summer.
A new report from researchers and police in Sweden has revealed a huge increase of crimes and assaults carried out on paramedics, fire-fighters and police.
Certain neighbourhoods and towns, often known for high migrant populations, have been designated as unsafe for emergency crews to respond to fires or medical emergencies without an armed police escort. In some areas emergency service workers have been attacked with knives, have had projectiles thrown at them, including rocks, and in at least one case, a hand grenade reports Expressen.
Emergency service workers have been targets for attacks in Sweden for years but many fear that the attacks are becoming more frequent and potentially more deadly.

A secretly recorded speech at an unknown location features Hillary Clinton vowing to launch a new effort to ban assault weapons if she becomes president.
“So I’m going to speak out. I’m going to do everything I can to rally people against this pernicious, corrupting influence of the NRA,” Clinton asserts.
“And we’re going to do whatever we can. I’m proud when my husband took them on and we were able to ban assault weapons but he had to put a sunset on it so, 10 years later, of course, Bush wouldn’t agree to reinstate them.”
“We’ve got to go after this,” Clinton urged.
“Here again, the Supreme Court is wrong on the Second Amendment and I am going to make that case every chance I get.”
“The location and date of the recording are unknown. It sounds like an intimate room and was likely recorded on a cell phone or similar device. The Republican National Committee, which posted the clip on YouTube, has not provided additional details,” writes Kyle Olsen.
Hillary’s appetite for gun control has cropped up on the campaign trail numerous times.
Last month during an event in Philadelphia, Clinton vehemently agreed with a supporter who urged her to use executive orders to restrict the Second Amendment.
During a round table discussion in New York, the former Secretary of State nodded along vigorously as a member of the panel described gun owners as terrorists.
“Citizens are the terrorists, right?” the woman states as Hillary nods multiple times. “We’re so worried about terrorism but we have terrorism on our own soil,” she continued.
Hillary’s daughter Chelsea also gave a speech following the death of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia urging Democrats to exploit his absence to pass strict new gun control laws.

Saudi Arabian family therapist Khaled Al-Saqaby went on national television to teach men in the Kingdom how to “properly” beat your wife, while Hillary Clinton is chest thumping like a silverback gorilla about women’s rights.
Hillary never once said anything about the women’s rights in Saudi Arabia because she received hundreds of millions of dollars from the Saudis. Despite that, Hillary’s CNN henchman Jake Tapper tried to attack Ronald Reagan’s front man Paul Manafort (you may wanna skip to 8:15 minute) who is now working for Donald Trump, for “working with the Ukrainians under Viktor Yanukovych who had human rights issues”. What a bunch of hypocrites! What about Clinton’s relations with the Saudis who have SEVERE, RED ALERT type of human rights issues? Nope no one at the CNN mentions that! They won’t even mention it at FOX. Women in Saudi Arabia are basically slaves yet Hillary keeps thumping her chest like a gorilla about women. Truly truly disgusting!

Khaled Al-Saqaby: Assalaam Alaykum. Allah’s blessing upon you. Welcome to our show, which will deal with wife beating. I am aware that this issue is a thorny one, which contains many hazards, but Allah willing, we will cross this bridge safely.

I believe that the problem arises when husbands do not understand how to deal with disobedience. Some women disobey their husbands and make mistakes with them, and their husbands think this is due to inadequate treatment [of disobedience]. Allah said: “As for those on whose part you fear disobedience – advise them.” This is the first step in disciplining one’s wife. First, remind her of your rights and of her duties, according to Allah.
Then comes the second stage – forsaking her [in bed]. Here too, some husbands make mistakes, which might exacerbate the problem even further. If, for example, the husband leaves his bed and goes to another house, everybody knows that there is a problem. The point of forsaking her in bed is to discipline the wife, and not to air your dirty laundry in public. Allah said: “Forsake them in bed” – which means that you should stay in bed with her, but turn your back to her, or else sleep in a separate bed in the same room.
By the way, as a woman once told me, this is the most ingenious way to discipline a wife. If the husband leaves the room, it is easier for her than if he remains with her but turns his back to her, or if he sleeps on the floor while she sleeps in the bed, or vice versa. Then comes the third stage – the issue of beating. We have to understand that the aim is to discipline, not to vent one’s anger. The necessary Islamic conditions for beating must be met.
The beating should not be performed with a rod such as this one. Nor should it be with a headband, which some husbands use [to beat their wives], or with a sharp object, which, I’m sad to say, some husbands use. It should be done with something like the sewak tooth-cleaning twig – Ibn Abbas said that she should be beaten with a sewak, like this one, or with a handkerchief, because the goal is merely to make the wife feel that she was wrong in the way she treated her husband.
