According to the Seattle Times, other students also identified Fryberg as the shooter. Meanwhile, local news outlet King 5 added that family members have identified Fryberg as the gunman. The shooting at the Washington state school was first reported around 10:45 am on Friday, with local police reporting two people dead, including the suspected shooter, Fryberg. Multiple reports state that Fryberg, a freshman who was voted homecoming king earlier this month, shot five people before killing himself with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound.” Fryberg identified himself as a Native American on his social media accounts despite the fact that his family name is Jewish. Some pictures portray him hunting with and using rifles. He was reportedly a recent victim of bullying. Four students, two boys and two girls, have been hospitalized so far with head wounds, with three undergoing surgery. The other student victim has yet to be identified. Meanwhile, police told CBS News they are attempting to trace a Beretta 40 caliber handgun that they suspect Fryberg used to carry out the shooting. The incident reportedly began after Fryberg walked into the school’s cafeteria, witness Jordan Luton said to CNN. Fryberg allegedly walkted towards a table of students, “came up from behind … and fired about six bullets into the backs of them,” witness Jordan Luton said to CNN. “They were his friends, so it wasn’t just random.” Another student, 15-year-old Jarron Webb, told the Seattle Times that Fryberg was upset when a female student declined to date him. This girl was one of the students that was shot, Webb said, adding that another victim was a friend of Fryberg’s dating back to kindergarten. The shooting came as a surprise to many students, some of which described Fryberg as a popular individual. “Everybody knew him. Everybody liked him,” Bryce Vitcovitch, a member of the school’s football team, said to KING 5. “This is just a huge shock to everybody. For the most part, he was a really happy kid.” Another student named Alan Perez recalled a fight that broke out between Fryberg and another student over a so-called racist comment, but expressed surprise over the violence on Friday. “I’d understand if he was angry about that, but other than that, he wasn’t bullied or anything like that,” Perez said, according to NBC. “He seemed like he was really happy. He seemed like a popular kid.” |

Following confirmation of a doctor contracting Ebola in New York, the states of New York and New Jersey have announced a screening system that supersedes guidelines established by the federal government. The new procedures announced by New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie do not include banning flights from West Africa from entering the country. The new procedures were implemented after Dr. Craig Spencer, a member of Doctors Without Borders, returned to New York and passed a CDC screening procedure at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Spencer had contact with the public before reporting to a hospital. He took the subway, walked the High Line, linear park built on a section of an unused New York Central Railroad spur and went bowling in Williamsburg, Brooklyn the day before he became sick. “He was a doctor, and even he didn’t follow the guidelines,” said New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo Friday afternoon. “We believe it’s appropriate to increase the current screening procedures from people coming from affected countries from the current (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention screening procedures),” Cuomo said. “We believe it within the State of New York and the State of New Jersey’s legal rights.” Travelers from affected West African countries will be subject to the new rules. Those determined to have exposure to the disease will be quarantined for 21 days at a government supervised facility. Specific procedures for quarantine and hospitalization will be determined by New York and New Jersey health departments. “Voluntary quarantine – you know it’s almost an oxymoron. This is a very serious situation.” Cuomo said during a news conference. “Voluntary quarantine – raise your right hand and promise you’re going to stay home for 21 days. We’ve seen what happens.” Christie said New Jersey has “very aggressive authority” to enforce a mandatory quarantine. WCBS 880 in New York reported patients include anyone having direct contact with a person infected with Ebola while in Liberia, Guinea, or Sierra Leone. “It’s too serious a situation to leave it to the honor system,” Cuomo said. Olivia Mitchell, the Fine Gael deputy for Dublin South said that immigration should be increased because mixing the Irish with immigrants makes the children “better looking and taller”. Although the debate was originally about requiring the father’s name to be on birth certificates, she trailed off into an anti-Irish argument calling for more immigration. “As a small island country we should be expanding our gene pool, not reducing it,” she said. “I think as an island country cut off from the rest of Europe, it’s a good thing that we have a certain amount of immigration. Mobility of races is a good thing,“ “You can even see the better-looking and taller children now as a result of the Celtic Tiger years [1995 - 2000 when immigration was increased considerably]. I think it’s a good thing to keep our IQs up there; it’s not just about appearance.“ The Census from 2011, found that Ireland was 94.3% Irish. 6% non-European immigrants is not good enough for these vile traitorous politicians… they want more, maybe when the numbers are reversed they would probably be happy. The Irish gene pool is unique with its red hair and freckle looks. Destroy that and you won’t find anywhere else in the entire world a gene similar to that, maybe except for Scotland but unfortunately the United Kingdom (Scotland is part of UK) has politicians with the exact same mentality, if not even worse of those from Ireland. |

The newly designed way introduces stem cells engineered to produce toxins which are able to kill brain tumors, without succumbing to their effects. As a stem-cell-based therapy for cancer, the newly-developed method does not threaten healthy cells, according to a study report published in the journal Stem Cells. The research conducted by the scientists from Massachusetts General Hospital and the Harvard Stem Cell Institute was successfully tested on mice with glioblastoma, the most common brain tumor in human adults. “After doing all of the molecular analysis and imaging to track the inhibition of protein synthesis within brain tumors, we do see the toxins kill the cancer cells,” explained the study leader Dr. Khalid Shah, the director of the molecular neurotherapy and imaging lab at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. He also stated that “cancer-killing toxins have been used with great success in a variety of blood cancers, but they do not work as well in solid tumors because the cancers are not as accessible and the toxins have a short half-life.” The researchers claim that the newly-engineered stem cells which are resistant to toxin can make and release cancer-killing drugs with the capability of attacking solid tumors. “This is a clever study, which signals the beginning of the next wave of therapies,” said the professor of regenerative medicine at University College London, Chris Mason. “The study shows you can attack solid tumors by putting mini pharmacies inside the patient which deliver the toxic payload direct to the tumor,” he also noted. Dr. Shah predicts that clinical trials with the therapy will begin within the next five years. Source |

Brazil’s leftist president Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected for another term with over 51 percent of the vote in a tight presidential run-off on Sunday. Rousseff, who has been in power since 2011, has been re-elected for a second term, winning 51.6 percent of the vote according to the official tally. With over 99 percent of the ballots counted, her opponent, the centrist opposition leader Aecio Neves got 48.4 percent. Rousseff secured her victory with wide support from the country’s poor: some 40 million people have been lifted from the brink of poverty due to social reforms and the economic boom since 2003, when her Worker’s Party came to power. Aecio Neves, on the other hand, was supported by the upper-middle class and the rich, promising to recover the economic growth, that decreased during Rousseff’s first term, and to deal with high inflation.
