Many of us what to know what foods are better for our bodies. The food industry floods people with information, often advertising new healthy foods. However, there are many basic, non-advertised super food products that are readily available to all of us.
Natural News made the list of nine best superfoods that all of us may consider adding into our menus.
Superfoods are foods considered to have unusually high nutritional value or health benefits; many fruits, vegetables and seeds fit that definition because they are packed with nutrients and health-boosting compounds.
Below is the list of nine superfruits and super seeds to add to your diet.
1. Chia seeds
Rich in omega-3 fatty acids, chia seeds are also a good source of calcium, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. Milled chia seeds have been shown to provide more nutritional benefits than whole seed, and can be found in many ready-to-drink mixes.
2. Flaxseed
Another well-known super seed is flaxseed, which provides omega-3 fatty acids, antioxidants and fiber.
Flaxseed also contains phytoestrogens which may improve cardiovascular function. Studies have also suggested that flaxseed can reduce cholesterol levels.
3. Sunflower seeds
The ever-popular sunflower seed is not only filled with flavorful snack appeal, but also delivers plenty of health benefits.
They’re loaded monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, fiber, protein and antioxidants. They also contain phytochemicals which are compounds that have been shown to boost the immune system and can even fight cancer.
4. Pumpkin seeds
Pumpkin seeds are also a tasty snack as well as a nice addition to salads. You can roast or toast your own or buy them already prepared. However, to get the most benefits, it’s healthiest to eat them raw. Yes, you can eat raw seeds right out of the pumpkin.
This super seed contains protein, fiber and lots of minerals, including magnesium, manganese and phosphorus.
5. Blueberries
Blueberries are a rich source of antioxidants, fiber, vitamins and minerals. Thought to have anti-aging and cancer-fighting properties, blueberries have become one of the most popular superfruits. They have also been shown to reduce blood pressure and relieve arterial stiffness.
According to Tom Payne, industry specialist for the U.S. Highbush Blueberry Council (USHBC) in Folsom, California, “Consumers see blueberries as a value-added ingredient linked to heart health, anti-aging properties, cancer prevention, improved eyesight, and better memory.”
6. Acai berries
These super berries are becoming increasingly popular, and for many good reasons.
Acai berries are similar to olive oil in terms of fatty acid ratio and are a very good source of anthocyanins, which provide benefits ranging from fighting inflammation and improving memory to regulating blood sugar levels and inhibiting cancer cell growth.
7. Tart cherries
Aside from their high antioxidant and anthocyanin content, tart cherries have also been found to be a powerful anti-inflammatory agent.
When tested on a group of cyclists, tart cherry concentrate proved to be beneficial after strenuous cycling by reducing inflammation that was caused by the exercise. It was also shown to quicken their recovery time.
8. Cranberries
Aside from their well-known urinary tract health benefits, cranberries also display antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. They are also a good source of antioxidants, and have been shown to have beneficial effects on cardiovascular and oral health.
9. Avocados
This superfruit (yes, it’s a fruit) contains a high amount of “good” fats (monounsaturated fats) which can help lower blood cholesterol and maintain good heart health.
Eating a wide range of fruits, seeds, nuts and vegetables is important for overall balance, whether or not they’ve all been classified as “super.”

According to a Defense Department approved “sexism course,” the Bible, the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence all contribute to modern sexism.
Those three cherished texts all count as “historical influences that allow sexism to continue,” according to a presentation prepared by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, whose mission is to give a ”world-class human relations education.”
According to the course, the Bible has “quotes” which can be interpreted as sexist by readers.
The Declaration of Independence is also an historical cause of sexism, as the document refers only to “all men” not “men and women.”
And the Constitution, the Pentagon argues, is an historical source of sexism because “slaves and women were not included until later in history.”
Of course, members of the Armed Forces take an oath to defend the Constitution, which is, according to the DEOMI course, an “historical influence that allows sexism to continue.”
“The content of the lesson is provided to generate academic discussion concerning how these historical documents have been included in discussions about the topic of sexism,” Lt. Cmdr. Nate Christensen, a Defense Department spokesman, told The Daily Caller.
But following TheDC’s request for comment, the sexism course, as well as two other courses listed on DEOMI’s website, entitled “Prejudice & Discrimination” and “Racism”, were taken offline.
“This course is currently offline and under revision,” a notice says under all three courses.

British scientists have invented a robot that cooks, working in a ‘smart kitchen,’ capable of mimicking Michelin-starred chefs to prepare food from a menu of over 2,000 dishes.
A team of scientists from London have unveiled their invention of a robotic cook which they hope will go on sale to consumers in 2017, able to recreate dishes prepared by top chefs in the comfort and convenience of your own kitchen.
The robot uses two anthropomorphic robot hands with 24 joints and 20 motors, to make the dishes by mimicking the movements of a human chef, prerecorded using motion capture cameras and uploaded to the robot. The hands were developed over 18 years by the Shadow Robot Company, which also provides the technology to NASA.
The robot, which is being demonstrated on Tuesday at the Hannover Messe Industrial Trade Fair in Germany, is being trained by 2011 UK Masterchef award winner Tim Anderson, who explains that “currently, the robot cooks crab bisque based on my own recipe and movements. But the potential for more dishes is limitless.”
According to the developers, Moley Robotics, its robotic kitchen will come with a digital library of over 2,000 dishes, while top chefs and cooking enthusiasts alike will be able to use recorded 3D recipes to share their recipes with consumers.
The version for consumers is set have a price tag of around ₤10,000 [$14,700] but includes an oven, hob, dishwasher and sink, with which the robot will learn how to work.
“When not in use, the robotic arms retract from view, presenting a beautifully designed kitchen for home cooks to enjoy. When running in automated mode, built-in glass screens glide across the working area, making the kitchen 100% safe to operate around children, pets or with even with no one at home,” say the developers, who add that as well as the built-in touch screen, the robot can also be controlled via a smartphone app.

A new breathalyzer has been developed which uses nanoarray analysis enabling it to detect stomach cancer, a report says.
Gut journal published a new study on the breathalyzer, which uses the analysis to detect tiny changes in exhaled breath caused by volatile organic compounds (VOCs) emitted by cancerous cells.
The new device could possibly be used as well to provide clues to the early stages of the development of stomach cancer and other gastric problems and lesions.
The authors of the study wrote, “Detection of precancerous lesions would allow surveillance to be performed, making early detection of the transformation to cancer possible.”
The authors believe the likely success of the new breathalyzer lies in its non-invasiveness, ease of use, rapid predictiveness, insensitivity to confounding factors, and potentially low cost.
Last year, another research published by the University of Colorado described the work of a portable breath test that could detect lung cancer and chronic pulmonary obstructive disease based on the volatile organic compounds exhaled from the lungs.
Researchers elsewhere have also developed a breath test for breast cancer.
Still another study has introduced a breathalyzer that could distinguish the breath of a person with head and neck cancer.
All of these studies are based on the fact that when you breathe out, the air you are exhaling often tells of one’s health, because the metabolism of cancer cells is different from healthy cells and the gases they release leave their mark on your breath.
However, a very sensitive device is needed to be able to detect the difference between the breath of a healthy person and a sick one. So, if you met somebody who just had a lot of fresh onions and garlic leaving its mark on their breath, do not jump to any conclusions.

Manipulated Search Results: At least 40% of all websites on the internet are not even shown in Google’s search results anymore and they usually get hidden in the “Omitted Results” at the very bottom, which is a form of severe censorship.
The EU has officially filed a complaint against Google for allegedly abusing its dominance in the European market. The case could carry a fine of up to $6 billion, which would be the biggest settlement in EU antitrust history.
The EU has regularly accused the US tech giant of squeezing out smaller competitors in Europe by making its Google searches favor its own services.
The Commission has sent the company a formal Statement of Objections. Under EU antitrust law, once a company receives a Statement of Objections, it has 10 weeks to respond, but it also has the right to challenge the decision of the Commission in court, a process that could drag out over years.
In Europe, Google enjoys at 90 percent market share, according to data from StatCenter. Competitor Bing has a 2.67 percent share, Yahoo 2.34 percent, and the remaining piece of the market is shared amongst smaller firms.
“Dominant companies have a responsibility not to abuse their powerful market position by restricting competition either in the market they are dominant in, or in neighboring markets,” said European Commission Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager at a briefing in Brussels.
The announcement is the culmination of a preliminary investigation which has been going on for five years.
“In the case of Google I am concerned the company has given an unfair advantage to its own comparison shopping service, in breach of EU antitrust rules. Google now has the opportunity to convince the Commission to the contrary. However, if the investigation confirms our concerns, Google would have to face the legal consequences and change the way it does business in Europe,” Vestager said in a statement.
By using data from its massive client base, Google guides users to its own products, like Google Shopping. However, other services, such as Google Travel, are at the very bottom of the competition.
Android investigation
The antitrust probe will also dig into the relationship between the Google’s Android mobile platform, which often comes preloaded with Google applications like Gmail, Google Maps, and other Google products, which “has illegally hindered the development and market access of rival mobile operating systems,” the EC said.
Just minutes after the EU announced its probe, Google responded saying the Android open source platform created choice and innovation, and not a monopoly.
“The European Commission has asked questions about our partner agreements. It’s important to remember that these are voluntary, again, you can use Android without Google, but provide real benefits to Android users, developers and the broader ecosystem,” Google said in a statement.
Companies like Microsoft, TripAdvisor, Streetmap and others have made antitrust allegations against Google. They complain it uses its search engine to promote its own products, giving an unfair advantage over its competitors.
Google’s shares on Nasdaq dipped on the news, down 1.63 percent to $530.39 at 12:30pm in Brussels.
Later on Wednesday Vestager is due in Washington DC to visit President Barack Obama and business leaders who represent US tech lobbies.
