The FBI has issued an alert to law enforcement agencies in Wyoming and Colorado, advising them to watch out for Middle Eastern men who have been approaching US military families. The alert says the men are meeting military families at their homes in both states – specifically in Greeley, Colorado and Cheyenne, Wyoming.
“On numerous occasions, family members of military personnel were confronted by Middle Eastern males in front of their homes. The males have attempted to obtain personal information about the military members and family members through intimidations,” the alert says, as quoted by CBS Denver. “Those family members reported feeling scared.”
In one incident a wife of a military member was approached in front of her home by two Middle Eastern males in May. The men stated that she was the wife of a US interrogator. When the woman denied the claims, the men laughed before driving away in a dark-colored, four-door sedan with two other Middle Eastern males.
“The woman had observed the vehicle in the neighborhood on previous occasions,” the alert reads. Similar incidents were reported in Wyoming throughout June 2015.
The men have not been identified, and the FBI is unsure whether the various incidents involve the same people. The agency has urged individuals to report “concerning additional incidents.”
While it is unknown whether the men are affiliated with a particular group, Islamic State has previously threatened to strike military members in their own homes.
In March, a group calling itself the ‘Islamic State Hacking Division’ posted a list of addresses allegedly belonging to approximately 100 military members. The group called for their beheadings, saying it released the data “so that our brothers residing in America can deal with you.”

A man reportedly armed with a hatchet and a gun attacked a movie theater in a Nashville suburb during the showing of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, pepper-spraying the audience before being gunned down by the police.
Nashville police said that a SWAT team responded to an active shooter situation on Wednesday afternoon at the Carmike Hickory 8 theater in the 900 block of Bell Road in Antioch, Tennessee.
It is unclear whether the suspected shooter was killed by a police officer who helped evacuate the theater, or by the SWAT team that responded to the emergency. His dead body was found inside the theater after the SWAT secured the building.
Three patients have been treated for pepper-spray exposure, while one had “superficial wounds” probably caused by a hatchet, according to Brian Haas, public affairs officer for the Nashville Fire Department. He described the injuries as “bruises” on the person’s shoulder.
Police say the shooter had two backpacks. One was retrieved on his body, while the other is still being inspected for possible threats.
The suspect wore a surgical mask, and reportedly pepper-sprayed the audience at the theater, according to police spokesman Don Aaron. The only person shot at the theater was the suspect himself, whom Aaron identified as a 51-year-old local man, but did not release his name.
The incident comes just two weeks after a gunman killed two and injured nine others in Lafayette, Louisiana.

Nearly a dozen bounty hunters descended upon a Phoenix, Arizona house with guns drawn on Tuesday night, in an attempt to weed out a suspected fugitive. However, they ended up running into the top dog of the local police department.
Instead of discovering the runaway Oklahoma fugitive they were looking for, they were actually trying to raid the house of the Phoenix Police Chief Joseph Yahner. The bounty hunters said a social media tip led them to the house, where they believed they’d find their target.
According to the Arizona Republic, police said the incident began when two separate bounty hunter organizations, the Northstar Fugitive Recovery and Delta One Tactical Recovery, converged on Yahner’s home. A 54-second cell phone recording shows part of the scene, during which the bounty hunters can be seen around the property.
One man can also be seen pointing his flashlight at Yahner’s front door before the porch lights come on. The man is also yelling orders for someone to open the door.
Around 10:00pm local time, police received a 911 call about the incident. “We have somebody at our residence,” the caller said, identifying herself at Chief Yahner’s house.
“We have somebody, I don’t know if they’re bounty hunters or what they are, but they are … they just banged down our door and they’re looking for somebody,” she added.
Police said that when they got to the scene, they found the bounty hunters arguing with the police chief, who was still inside his house. When the bounty hunters explained themselves, officers told them the fugitive they we relooking for – a 310-pound, six foot three black man – was not there and said they needed to leave, the Arizona Republic reported.
The owner of Northstar Fugitive Recovery, 43-year-old Brent Farley was arrested the next morning “on suspicion of criminal trespassing and disorderly conduct as a result of the incident,” the Republic stated, citing law enforcement.
Multiple guns were also recovered, according to reporter William Pitts of local NBC affiliate 12 News.
