With nine days until the Massachusetts Primary on March 1st (Super Tuesday), the first polls show Donald Trump with an enormous lead over his rivals for the GOP nomination (with Ted Cruz suffering the biggest setback). So much for all those Jeb supporters ‘swinging’ away from Trump.
According to The Emerson College Polling Society…
Trump is leading in Massachusetts with 50%
On the other side, Bernie and Hillary are all tied up – time for a card-cutting or coin-toss with both at 46%…

President Barack Obama is expected to submit a plan to Congress outlining steps to close Guantanamo Bay. His long-awaited blueprint reportedly does not name specific locations that could replace the US prison in Cuba, however.
The administration is going to submit the Pentagon-drafted plan on Tuesday, meeting a congressionally-mandated February 23 deadline.
Pushing to close the US prison in Cuba by the end of his presidency, it is anticipated that Barack Obama’s final plan will focus on a strategy for closing the notorious facility, where 91 prisoners remain.
“The plan is to submit to Congress what our thoughts are on the issue and what we see is a way ahead necessary to achieve the closure of Guantanamo and to specifically point out the need for legislative relief,” Pentagon spokesman Navy Captain Jeff Davis said on Monday.
Obama is seeking to either hand detainees over to third countries that are willing to take them, or transfer them to the US soil. The latter option would require new legislation and has largely been opposed by Congress, however – particularly by its Republican members. A 2011 law bans the military from transferring Guantanamo detainees to the US.
“We’re going to continue to transfer detainees to other countries that agree to take them,” David said. “And take steps to make sure that the threat that they pose to the US is limited. Second, that we’ll continue to prosecute those that can be prosecuted. And third, that there’s this small group of individuals that can neither be safely transferred nor prosecuted.”
Congress is specifically looking forward to seeing the six “elements” that it had stipulated must be part of the plan in the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA). These include a list of potential sites, estimated expenses, and proposals on what to do with future detainees.
Last year, Pentagon officials examined about seven facilities in the US that could replace Guantanamo and host remaining prisoners.
The White House has been mulling over several potential sites, including a navy brig in Charleston, South Carolina; the US Justice Department’s Supermax prison in Florence, Colorado; and another two facilities at the army base in Fort Leavenworth, Kansas – the US Disciplinary Barracks and Midwest Joint Regional Corrections Facility.
However, according the Guardian, Obama’s blueprint does not name alternative sites in the United States. Citing an unnamed source familiar with the plan, the newspaper reported that Obama is going to try to persuade the legislators to engage in a dialogue about lifting the ban.
“The odds are pretty slim that Congress is going to go along with the plan, particularly the House,” the source said.
According to the newspaper, “administration aides” have suggested that Obama could take executive action to relocate detainees.
Ninety-one detainees currently remain in Guantanamo – down from 242 in 2009, when President Obama took office.
As of February 22, 56 of Guantánamo’s 91 detainees were designated for so-called post-Guantanamo detention, meaning they will have to be relocated if the facility closes. These prisoners, considered too dangerous to release, include 10 prisoners who were charged or convicted before Guantanamo military tribunals.
Closing Guantanamo Bay was one of Obama’s major promises in the 2008 presidential race. At the time, he argued that the prison was being used as a terrorist propaganda tool.

US scientists have reaffirmed the benefits of eating walnuts in a new study.
Specialists from the University of California at Davis conducted a series of experiments on a group of male mice diagnosed with prostate cancer. The mice were divided into three diet groups.
The first group did not consume walnuts, the second group received walnuts, and the third one was fed with walnut oil. The experiment showed that the development of the tumor and malignant cells significantly slowed among the rodents in the second and the third groups.
According to Natural News, the scientists explained the success of the experiment with the content of powerful phytonutrients in raw walnuts. This natural product contains that inhibit cancer cells and prevent them from developing.
Just two handfuls of walnuts every day reduces the risk of cancer by almost 50 percent, the scientists said.
Furthermore, walnut oil reduces the amount of harmful cholesterol in blood and increases insulin sensitivity, which helps fight heart disease and reduces the risk of diabetes. For example, one study found that overweight adults with type 2 diabetes who consumed just one-quarter cup of walnuts daily reduced their fasting insulin levels in just a few months’ time compared to those on non-walnut diets. It is believed that walnuts can shrink levels of the hormone IGF-1, known to play a key role in development of both prostate and breast cancer, Natural News says.
Thanks to their omega-3 fat content, walnuts are often the subjects of cancer-preventive studies. However, one should be cautious with eating them as walnuts are a high calorie product. For example, just 2.6 ounces of walnuts is about 482 calories, which may – in some people – contribute to an excess of stored fat.
Health benefits of walnuts have been known since time immemorial. Hippocrates and Avicenna mentioned them in the treatment of various diseases. In addition, the ancients thought that they stimulate mental activity. Anna Protsenko, a nutritionist, told MedPulse.ru.
“Walnuts contain a great deal of minerals,” the expert explains. “They include iron, copper, cobalt, potassium, sodium, phosphorus, magnesium, calcium, and iodine. Many of them are antioxidants. In addition, walnuts contain unsaturated fatty acids, more than 20 amino acids, and vitamins A, E, B, P and C. By the way, they contain nearly 50 times more vitamin C than citrus, and 8 times more than black currants. In addition, walnuts are rich in protein.
Here are a few popular walnuts recipes recommended by experts:
– To strengthen the immune system:
Mix a pound of walnut kernels, dried apricots, raisins and honey, then squeeze the juice out of two lemons, stir and put the mixture in a jar and cover with lid. Take 1 tablespoon a day. After some time, the course may be repeated.
– To improve metabolism:
Mix equal proportions of grated walnuts, honey and chopped figs. Take 1 tablespoon per day on empty stomach.
– If you have diabetes and want to lower blood sugar:
Get septum from 40 nuts, cover them with a glass of boiling water, keep in a steam bath for an hour then let cool and filter. Take 1 teaspoon three times a day.
– Athlete’s Foot:
Take 2 tablespoons of ch o pped walnut septum, pour 0.5 liters of boiling water and let sit for 30 minutes. Use for foot baths twice a week.

Air fresheners and scented candles are supposed to improve the smell of a room, but a new report finds that these kind of household products are actually silent killers which could be responsible for nearly 100,000 deaths across Europe every year.
Researchers in the UK found that many domestic products, including anti-insect sprays, deodorants, and cleaning products, contain chemicals known as Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs) which can cause cancer, particularly in children and elders.
“Every Breath We Take: The Lifelong Impact of Air Pollution” details how VOCs start off in a solid or liquid state, but then evaporate to pollute the air inside of homes.
High levels of a VOC called limonene, which can become the carcinogen formaldehyde when mixed with other airborne elements, have been found in numerous household products.

On Monday following an appearance by Trump insider and adviser Roger Stone on the Alex Jones Show last week, Donald Trump tweeted it “is so important to audit The Federal Reserve.” He also criticized opponent Ted Cruz for missing a vote on the proposal.
Stone told Alex Jones prior to the tweet Trump is “deeply suspicious” and “open-minded about the Fed.”
“I suspect you’d get an audit of the Fed… he has never said that, but I know his views. He doesn’t trust anything he is hearing out of Washington… he is the last best chance for reform,” Stone added.
In August Trump criticized the Fed’s artificially low interest rate, which has remained near zero since the financial crisis of 2008.
“From the country’s standpoint, I’m just not sure it’s a very good thing, because I really do believe we’re creating a bubble,” he said.
In October he accused Fed boss Janet Yellen of keeping interest rates low to stave off a deeper recession during the remainder of Obama’s term.
“She’s keeping the economy going, barely,” Trump said. “The reason they’re keeping the interest rate down is Obama doesn’t want to have a recession-slash-depression during his administration.”
Texas Senator Ted Cruz supported a bill to audit the Fed introduced by Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul. However, when the legislation came up for a vote Cruz skipped out.
Ron Paul also said that Ted Cruz will not audit the Fed because “he is owned by Goldman Sachs” and “a hyprocrite”.
Cruz explained he opted out because “it was clear early on [the] vote wasn’t going to succeed… And, at the same time that the vote was scheduled, I had longstanding commitments to be in New Hampshire.”

Avatar fans prepare yourself for disappointment as we’re afraid you may never get to live on Pandora. A new study has shown that Earth truly is one of a kind with nothing coming close to life on this planet.
Astronomers in Sweden used computer simulations to model the known universe from existing data and then applied the laws of physics to advance the model 13.8 billion years. Out of the 700 quintillion potential planets, none resembled Earth, meaning we may be very alone after all. Sorry Alf.
The results call into question the Copernican principle which says that humans are not privileged observers in this universe and that we do not occupy a “special place”. The principle was found when Renaissance scientist Nicolaus Copernicus proved Earth was not the center of the universe 400 years ago.
Thankfully disbelievers of the principle now look to be vindicated and rightfully so, how can a planet that’s home to both Steve Buscemi and triple-cooked fries not be considered a “special place”? Shame on you Nicolaus Copernicus.
Researchers cite Earth’s relatively young age as a factor in the violation of the Copernican principle.
“If you have these civilizations that had a 3.5-billion-year head start on us, why haven’t they colonized our galaxy?” cosmologist Max Tegmark told Scientific American. “To me, the most likely explanation is that if the planets are a dime a dozen, then highly intelligent life evolves only rarely.”
Being young isn’t all bad though, as it allows us the unique opportunity to study the formation of the universe before it gets too distant.
In a trillion years, long after our own sun has burned out and what’s left of Earth’s inhabitants have gone planet-hopping to a new home, future civilizations will be without the clues as to how the universe began. Someone remember to write it down please.
