Anywhere you go nowadays, whether it be your local pharmacy, grocery store or corner gas station, you’ll see products boasting their antioxidant ingredients.

We’ve been taught since early childhood that antioxidants are some wonder-substance, capable of fighting off ill health.

The logical next question, however, becomes “why?” and “how?” Perhaps not so surprisingly, when you ask someone these questions, they simply offer a shrug.

It’s worth taking a look into, in order to better understand the properties that antioxidants have, where they come from and how they help.

J. Robert Oppenheimer (1904 – 1967) was an American theoretical physicist, best known for his role as the scientific director of the Manhattan Project, the World War II effort to develop the first nuclear weapons, at the secret Los Alamos laboratory in New Mexico. He is often remembered as “the father of the atomic bomb”.

After witnessing the first successful nuclear explosion at the Trinity test site in Los Alamos New Mexico (which took place on 16 July, 1945) Oppenheimer remarked later that it brought to his mind words from the Bhagavad Gita: “Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds” (chapter 11, verse 32).

Although Oppenheimer never converted to Hinduism nor did he ever refer to himself as a Hindu, Hindu philosophy did influence him greatly. He never prayed to Hindu deities nor went to a Mandir (Hindu temple).

He was never a Hindu in a devotional sense, but he did take up Sanskrit lessons so he could better understand the Gita in its native tongue. Oppenheimer, raised as a Jew, was deeply affected by Vedic philosophy.

Coconut oil has long received criticism because groups of nutritionists and scientists had incorrectly labeled it as a promoter of LDL cholesterol, which has since been exposed as not being "bad" at all.

In truth, it never did increase LDL cholesterol, but it did increase HDL or good cholesterol.

That distinction was never corrected in the mainstream press and the misconception still continues to this day.

More research has now brought to light that coconut oil not only burns stubborn abdominal fat, but it also increases thyroid function, improves metabolic markers and is associated with considerable weight loss.
