Rescue workers scrambled to get food and water to Japan's ravaged northern communities Monday as the death toll mounts and a Japanese utility says fuel rods at a troubled nuclear reactor were once again fully exposed hours after a similar emergency was stabilized.

20 Taliban Bombing Campaign Hits Afghan North
U.S.-led efforts to curtail Taliban gains in northern Afghanistan have been buffeted by a concerted bombing campaign that has killed more than 80 people in the past three weeks including at least 35 who died Monday when a suicide bomber struck an Afghan army recruitment center.


Pakistan Delays Ruling on CIA Immunity
A Pakistan high court backed off from deciding whether a Central Intelligence Agency contractor held for killing two armed men is covered by diplomatic immunity, saying that a separate court hearing a murder case against the contractor would rule on the issue.
