talks between the Obama administration and congressional leaders of
both the Democratic and Republican parties would have a deal “beyond $1
trillion” in budget cuts before the Fourth of July recess, Vice
President Joseph Biden said Tuesday, after the first of three scheduled
meetings this week.
“I’m convinced that we can come up with an agreement
that gets the debt limit passed and makes some real serious down payment
on the commitment to 4 trillion bucks over the next 10 to 12 years,” he
said, referring to the deficit reduction proposal made by President
Obama in April.
The parameters for the talks were determined by the
Obama administration’s capitulation to the demand of House Speaker John
Boehner, the top congressional Republican, that legislation to raise the
federal debt ceiling should include spending cuts of an equal amount.
Since the Treasury has forecast that about $2.4
trillion in new federal borrowing will be needed between now and the end
of 2012, that would require $2.4 trillion in spending cuts.
The Treasury stopped borrowing in mid-May, when it
reached the current debt ceiling of $14.3 trillion. Treasury Secretary
Timothy Geithner said that one-time financial maneuvers could sustain
federal government operations through August 2, but there will be no
funds to cover Social Security checks to be sent out August 3 unless the
debt ceiling is raised.
Biden indicated that the negotiators hoped to have a
preliminary proposal by July 1, to give Boehner and Obama time for
additional top-level talks to finalize the agreement and to persuade
majorities in both the House and Senate to back the deal.
While Tuesday’s session focused on specific cuts in
spending, Wednesday’s was devoted to longer-term changes in the budget
process, including enforceable caps that would force automatic spending
cuts if the deficit did not fall by a specified amount. On Thursday the
negotiators moved on to proposals for massive cuts in Medicare and
Medicaid.
The health care programs for the elderly and the poor
are the main targets of the deficit reduction talks. They are likely to
bear the brunt of the nearly $1.4 trillion gap between what has already
been accepted by the group chaired by Biden, and the figure set by
Boehner. Both Social Security and the Pentagon, the two largest
components of federal expenditure, have been largely taken off the
table.
Press reports said the Wednesday session included
discussion of a one-year payroll tax holiday for employers, another
boondoggle for corporate interests to be sold to the public as a “job
creation” measure. However, since Corporate America is already sitting
on a cash hoard of $2.6 trillion, which it refuses to invest in hiring
new workers, another $100 billion or so in “incentives” is unlikely to
make any difference.
A one-year partial payroll tax holiday for workers
was incorporated into the bipartisan legislation passed last December,
extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. While touted by the White
House as more “economic stimulus,” the small addition to workers’
paychecks has been more than gobbled up by the rising cost of gasoline
at the pump.
The top Republican in the Biden-led talks, House
Majority Leader Eric Cantor, chimed in with praise for the
budget-cutting process and Biden’s role in particular.
“We have had some really significant and substantive
discussions in these talks, and I think the success of these talks thus
far is due to the vice president and the way he has conducted these
meetings,” he said. “I think we can accomplish trillions of dollars in
spending reductions and then put the necessary reforms in place where
you actually are going to achieve a lot more than that.”
Congressman Chris Van Hollen, the top Democrat on the
House Budget Committee and a participant in the talks, agreed with this
assessment, telling reporters after Wednesday’s session, “There was
broad support for the idea that we would put in place a mechanism that
assures deficit reduction.”
Obama’s top budget official, Jacob Lew, cited the
“atmosphere of cooperation” in the Biden-led talks, emphasizing
particularly the fact that none of the seven participants, five
Democrats and two Republicans, has discussed any of the specific cuts
with the media. He said this was a sign that both sides were taking the
discussions seriously.
There is a definite political significance to the
close-mouthed character of the White House talks. What is taking place
in Washington is a bipartisan conspiracy to rob the working class,
slashing trillions from Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps and other social
programs, under economic conditions where these social benefits are
more needed than ever. No leading Democrat or Republican wants to alert
working people about the immensity of the changes in social policy that
are being prepared.
Obama played his part in downplaying the impact of
the cuts, telling NBC News Monday, “There is a way of solving this
problem that doesn’t require any big radical changes. What it does
require is everybody makes some sacrifices. And we make these changes in
a balanced way.”
The major division between the two right-wing, big
business parties is over taxes. The Democrats advocate at least a modest
increase in taxes on the wealthy so that they can present the gutting
of social benefits for working people as “equal sacrifice.”
The Republicans what to dispense with any pretense of
“fairness,” and make even bigger slashes in spending to finance
additional tax cuts for the rich. So far, as in all previous such
“showdowns” under Obama, the Republicans have prevailed, insisting that
tax increases are not on the table in the Biden talks.
The bipartisan talks are “boosting optimism in
corporate America,” according to a report in the Washington newsletter
the Hill Thursday. “Chief executive officers of some of the nation’s
largest companies believe important structural changes could emerge from
the talks, led by Vice President Biden,” the newsletter reported,
citing a survey of CEOs by the Business Roundtable, a corporate lobby
headed by Ivan Seidenberg, CEO and Chairman of Verizon Communications.
While the corporate bosses expect, with good reason,
to profit from the bipartisan budget-cutting, the actual impact on
working people can be seen in the appropriations bills for the 2012
fiscal year now going through the House of Representatives.
This week’s action focused on the $17.25 billion
appropriations bill for the Department of Agriculture, which includes
major cuts in nutrition programs like food stamps and WIC, which
provides food commodities for pregnant and nursing women and their
children, as well as a cut in the number of federal food safety
inspectors.
According to an analysis by the Obama administration,
the cuts would mean that 1.1 million recipients of emergency food aid
will go hungry. The bill will also export hunger by reducing funds for
the international Food for Peace program.
On Wednesday a group of ultra-right Republicans tried
and failed to impose even deeper cuts, including an additional 10
percent from WIC and the effective abolition of Food for Peace.
Also on Wednesday, the House Judiciary Committee
approved a constitutional amendment requiring a balanced federal budget
at a level no greater than 18 percent of US gross domestic product, down
from the current level of 24 percent.
The amendment, which would have to pass the Senate
and be ratified by the states, would force an across-the-board 25
percent cut in all spending, beginning in 2017. Given the constraints of
interest payments and the military, where spending is expected to rise,
it would mean the effective abolition of all federal social spending
outside of Social Security.

Os bombeiros militares estão próximo de uma grande vitória, acuado e desesperado, e sem opção, Sérgio Cabral concorda em sancionar projeto de lei que prevê anistia administrativa para os heróis do fogo.
Por favor, não se deixem enganar, Sérgio Cabral está literalmente sendo obrigado a isso, mediante ao mar de MERDA e LAMA que ele se afundou, devido as denúncias de roubalheira, corrupção e tráfico de influência no seu governo. Mas bombeiros militares não se iludam, a luta não terminou, ainda tem que ser aprovado um reajuste salarial digno, e a nistia penal. Em tempo, a anistia administrativa era obrigação de Sérgio Cabral pela covardia que ele fez em mandar prender 439 bombeiros militares.
Em
tempo 2, será o presidente da ALERJ o deputado Paulo Melo que
apresentará o projeto de lei que prevê a anistia administrativa, só
falta ele depois querer sair de "bonzinho" nesssa história.

Reprodução do jornal O Globo on line  RIO - O presidente da Assembleia Legislativa do Rio, Deputado Paulo Melo (PMDB), anunciou na tarde desta terça-feira que vai apresentar um Projeto de Lei que prevê a anistia administrativa
dos 439 bombeiros e dois policiais militares que foram presos depois
de ocuparem o Quartel Central de Bombeiros, no último dia 3 . O texto foi discutido com o próprio governador Sérgio Cabral. A resistência de Cabral em dar a anistia
era um dos entraves às negociações entre o governo e os líderes do
movimento que quer melhorias salariais para a categoria. Segundo Melo, a
proposta vem sendo costurada há semanas com o governador. Segundo ele,
o projeto deve ser votado ainda hoje.
A Assembleia Legislativa do Rio (Alerj) aprovou também nesta tarde a antecipação das parcelas referentes aos meses de agosto a dezembro do reajuste aprovado há um ano para os policiais civis e militares, bombeiros e inspetores de segurança. O aumento, concedido em julho, foi de 5,58%. Segundo o líder do Governo na Alerj, deputado André Corrêa, propostas como a concessão de vale transporte aos bombeiros serão adotadas via decreto.
- Todas as emendas apresentadas representam aumento de despesa, ferindo a prerrogativa do Governo - alegou Correa.
Para entrar em vigor, o texto precisa ser sancionado pelo governador Sérgio Cabral.
No
sábado, cerca de três mil bombeiros, de acordo com a polícia,
apoiados por outros servidores públicos e seus parentes, fizeram uma
manifestação na Praia do Flamengo, em frente ao Castelinho,
na altura da Rua Dois de Dezembro . Acompanhados por dois carros de
som, eles pediam melhores condições de trabalho nas áreas de segurança,
saúde e educação. E recolheram assinaturas pela anistia dos mais de 400 bombeiros que invadiram o quartel central da corporação, no dia 3 de junho .

Esse blog não fala só de ladrões e políticos, fala também de babacas.
O pior é que ainda usaram a internet e o twiter para fazer essa palhaçada, e ainda brincando com morte.   Na tarde desta terça-feira (28), o promoter David Brazil – primeiro a divulgar o boato da morte de Amin Khader em seu Twitter – conversou por telefone com o UOL sobre a falsa notícia. “O que aconteceu foi uma palhaçada do Amin
e não quero mais falar com ele. Acabou a amizade. Para mim ele
morreu”, declarou ele, acrescentando que tudo não passou de uma armação
do repórter da Record. “Ele quis aparecer e ser polêmico
e criou isso tudo. Tenho certeza de que ele estava armando isso desde
ontem. Porque ele me ligou falando que estava indo ao médico porque
estava com dor no coração. À noite, deixou um recado falando que tinha
dado uma vontade louca de falar comigo, que tinha feito exames e ia
dormir”, lembrou.
David contou que na manhã desta terça (28) recebeu um telefonema desesperado de Mariana, sobrinha de Amin Kader.
“Ela me ligou aos prantos e disse: ‘David, meu tio morreu! Meu tio
morreu!’. Na hora, não acreditei. Pedi para ela ficar calma e perguntei
o que tinha acontecido. Ela disse que a Maria, empregada do Amin, tinha encontrado ele morto. Aí ela chamou os seguranças do prédio, que confirmaram a morte”, afirmou.
Depois do telefonema de Mariana, David contou que apressou-se para chegar ao prédio de Amin, na Barra da Tijuca,
zona oeste carioca. “Quando cheguei lá, os porteiros falaram que
tinham recebido um comunicado da administração do prédio dizendo que o
senhor Amin tinha falecido e seu corpo tinha sido levado para Petrópolis”, lembrou.
Por estar muito nervoso, David disse que pediu que dois amigos o acompanhassem a Petrópolis, região serrana do Rio. “Voltei em casa para buscar um casaco e vi o Amin
correndo na praia. Perguntei para ele o que tinha acontecido, falei:
‘você tá maluco?’. Ele riu e saiu correndo. Para mim ele morreu”,
repetiu.
“Se ele foi o causador disso tudo, nunca mais será meu amigo”, diz Amin Khader sobre David Brazil
No “Cidade Alerta” desta terça (28), Amin Khader falou sobre o fato de David Brazil
ter sido o primeiro a divulgar o boato da sua morte. “Se ele foi o
causador disso tudo, nunca mais será meu amigo. Ele é uma pessoa
pública, trabalha com imprensa, sabe como a vida pública é. Então por
que não sondou? Por que as pessoas estão com essa mania de Twitter? Meu Twitter é falso. Desteto Twitter. Acho um horror. Como uma pessoa coloca que a outra morreu no Twitter? Que isso? Desculpe o meu desabafo”, disse Amin a Datena.
Revoltado, Amin continuou a falar mal do microblog e disse que embora se considere um “internauta” e use diversas ferramentas da rede, detesta o Twitter em especial. “Gosto de internet, mas tenho medo do Twitter. Esse cara que escreve o Amin Khader
real, por exemplo, não sou eu. Então se ele escreve algo homofóbico,
contra a raça negra ou contra os índios, ele está escrevendo com o meu
nome. E sabia que eu não posso tirar esse cara de lá? Eu tenho que
abrir um processo nos EUA. Sou um internauta, mas não gosto disso de alguém que nem conheço poder colocar o que quiser na internet com o meu nome”, criticou.

A FARSA das UPP's vai se revelando, pela primeira vez o Comandante das UPP's reconhece que o trafico continua nas comunidades, e os bandidos estão armados, fala inclusive que o efetivo de policiais não é suficiente.
E aí ? Isso tudo foi escondido do povo pela imprensa na época das eleições, aí deu a MERDA, Sérgio Cabral se eelegeu. Seria possível denunciarmos esse governo por estelionato eleitoral ?

 O comandante das Unidades de Polícia Pacificadora (UPP) do Rio de Janeiro, coronel Robson Rodrigues, afirmou nesta segunda-feira que ainda há "pontos críticos" dentro de favelas cariocas pacificadas, inclusive com a presença de criminosos armados. Criadas em 2008, as UPPs são uma das principais políticas de segurança do governo fluminense e têm como objetivo ocupar comunidades carentes com policiamento comunitário para acabar com o controle de quadrilhas armadas.
Pontos
críticos "são aqueles pontos onde pode haver criminosos armados, que
não vão ser delatados pela comunidade. São locais onde eles podem ter
uma rede de proteção. São pontos de difícil interação da polícia com a comunidade ainda. Por causa de vários fatores, geográficos, sociais, históricos, há comunidades onde tem um foco maior de resistência à ação da polícia", disse o coronel.
No último sábado, três policiais da UPP do morro da Coroa, inaugurada em fevereiro, foram feridos depois de criminosos lançarem uma granada e atirarem contra eles. O confronto começou quando os oficiais foram até uma casa que funcionava como local de preparação de drogas para checar uma denúncia. Dezesseis áreas da cidade do Rio, que englobam 50 favelas, foram ocupadas pelas unidades desde 2008. Rodrigues disse que o número de criminosos nessas comunidades é muito menor do que antes da pacificação e que, agora, em vez de fuzis, eles utilizam armas menores, como pistolas e revólveres, mais fáceis de esconder. "Temos feito apreensões e, uma vez ou outra, há confronto com armas de fogo. Ainda há muitas prisões. Mas os padrões são completamente diferentes de antes", afirmou. Efetivo insuficiente Segundo o comandante, o efetivo das UPPs é insuficiente para garantir o controle ostensivo (presencial) de todo o território das favelas pacificadas. No caso da UPP da Coroa, por exemplo, que também inclui as favelas vizinhas Fallet e Fogueteiro, o efetivo total é de 200 homens, o que garante a permanência simultânea de apenas cerca de 40 homens dentro da favela. Por isso, de acordo com Rodrigues, para garantir a pacificação efetiva do território, é preciso contar com outras estratégias. "A gente utiliza outras estratégias, estratégias de inteligência. A própria população precisa se tornar uma parceira, para, a cada dia, diminuirmos esses espaços críticos", disse. Antes do confronto no morro da Coroa, já haviam sido registrados outros casos de violência dentro das UPPs. Em março de 2010, um ônibus foi apedrejado e incendiado dentro da comunidade da Cidade de Deus, zona oeste, a segunda a receber uma UPP, deixando 13 pessoas feridas. Em julho do mesmo ano, um morador do morro do Cantagalo, zona sul, foi baleado em uma troca de tiros entre policiais da UPP e homens que venderiam drogas dentro da favela. Em fevereiro deste ano, um homem morreu depois ser baleado por policiais militares da UPP do Andaraí, zona norte, supostamente por ameaçar os agentes com uma granada. Já no início deste mês, um jovem de 19 anos foi morto por policiais da UPP do Pavão-Pavãozinho, zona sul, supostamente depois de trocar tiros com os agentes. A família do jovem diz que ele não era criminoso e que foi executado.  |

Uma das maiores fornecedoras de equipamentos e serviços na área de informática para o estado, a Investiplan foi condenada pela 2ª Vara Federal, no fim de 2009, a ressarcir em mais de R$ 348 mil a Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF)
num contrato para manutenção de computadores. A Justiça entendeu que a
empresa não prestou o serviço como previsto. Apesar disso, a Investiplan
conseguiu nos últimos dois anos - portanto, após a condenação - cerca
de R$ 11 milhões em benefícios fiscais do estado. No total, desde 2007,
ela já deixou de recolher R$ 28 milhões em ICMS.
O caso da empresa de computadores não é o único. A Ermar Alimentos e a Comercial Milano foram denunciadas pelo Ministério Público estadual por dano ao erário e ato de improbidade administrativa,
em 2008. Mas isso também não impediu que ambas fossem beneficiadas
com R$ 12,5 milhões, após a Justiça aceitar a denúncia do MP. Desse
total, 89% foram para a Milano. Se analisado o período entre 2007 e 2010 das duas empresas, o maior volume das isenções foi para a Milano: 77% de um total de R$ 44 milhões.
Secretaria não discute benefícios
Outra empresa que também se beneficiou com as isenções do governo foi a Home Bread (R$ 434 mil em 2009). Ela responde a uma ação de execução fiscal movida pela Fazenda Nacional, que tramita na 7ª Vara de Execução Fiscal desde o ano passado.

Mais uma vez se revela a mentira das UPP's, os mototaxistas denunciam que são obrigados a pagarem uma taxa para os traficantes.
Em outras palavras, a UPP do Morro do Andaraí é só enfeite e propaganda mentirosa, por que os traficantes continuam agindo e matando.

Um mototaxista da comunidade do Andaraí, na zona norte do Rio, denunciou à Rede Record que o tráfico continua cobrando o pagamento de taxas, apesar da comunidade estar ocupada pela UPP (Unidade de Polícia Pacificadora). Ele disse que, quem não, paga sofre represálias.
A denúncia foi feita depois que ele viu dois amigos serem assassinados. Segundo ele, os mototaxistas mortos não pagaram a taxa do tráfico.Policiais do Batalhão da Tijuca (6º BPM) confirmaram que houve participação do tráfico na morte dos mototaxistas e informaram à Rede Record que o tráfico ganhava cerca de R$ 6 mil com a taxa cobrada dos mototaxista.  |

Polícia Civil divulgou nesta terça-feira (28) imagens dos criminosos
que roubaram a família do filho do ministro da Defesa, Nelson Jobim,
em Ipanema, zona sul do Rio, no último domingo (26). As imagens,
gravadas pelo circuito interno de um prédio vizinho, mostram a dupla
deixando o edifício, e caminhando pela avenida Vieira Souto em direção ao Arpoador.

(Delegacia de Roubos e Furtos), espera que a divulgação das imagens
faça com que as pessoas denunciem os suspeitos. Um deles aparece com
uma camisa listrada e o outro com uma mochila, onde foram colocadas
aproximadamente 20 peças, entre anéis, cordões, braceletes, entre
outras jóias, avaliadas em cerca de R$ 200 mil. Foram levados também R$
500 em espécie.A polícia ainda não tem certeza sobre como os criminosos entraram no prédio, mas sabe que eles fugiram pulando o portão do prédio. Armados com revólveres, eles seguiram pela rua Joana Angélica, entraram na Vieira Souto e caminharam em direção ao Arpoador. Antes, um deles ainda olhou para o porteiro do edifício vizinho, que estranhou a movimentação. - Pela forma como eles agiram, nós acreditamos que eles sejam da área. Eles não escolheram o prédio e os moradores. Foi um crime de oportunidade. Aos domingos, o porteiro do prédio invadido tira folga e a portaria fica vazia. Além disso, eles ficaram à espera do primeiro morador que aparecesse e renderam a vítima, a mulher do filho do ministro, que saía do elevador. Apesar de não ter feito exame de corpo de delito, a nora do ministro chegou a levar uma coronhada na cabeça, por um dos assaltantes. Eles não tinham informações sobre bens da família e pediram apenas objetos de valor, o que representa mais um indício de que o crime não foi planejado, de acordo com a polícia. Além de contar com a ajuda da população, que pode passar informações para o Disque-Denúncia (2253-1177), o delegado também aguarda o resultado da perícia papiloscópica feita no apartamento, que pode identificar os criminosos por meio de impressão digital. O resultado deve sair até a próxima sexta-feira. O porteiro do prédio vizinho também pode ser chamado para fazer o reconhecimento, caso algum suspeito seja preso. Fábio Asty informou que muitas jóias são das marcas Cartier e H. Stern e que, as pessoas que comprarem estes objetos estão cometendo crime de receptação, cuja pena varia entre um e quatro anos de prisão. A identificação das jóias pode ser feita por meio de fotos que a família tem.  |

Como um menino pode ter desaparecido ? Se Juan fosse um filho de ministro já teria aparecido (clique aqui e entenda).

  RIO - O corpo do menino Juan de Moraes, de 11 anos, que desapareceu no último dia 20 após uma operação policial na favela do Danon, em Nova Iguaçu , pode
estar enterrado dentro da própria comunidade, em uma cachoeira,
segundo informações que chegaram ao disque-denúncia do 20º BPM. O
comandante do Batalhão, coronel Sérgio Mendes, informou ainda que
espera que a família de Juan leve uma camisa dele ainda nesta terça ao
batalhão, para que a busca ao corpo seja reforçada por cães farejadores.
O irmão de Juan, Wesley de Moraes,
de 14 anos, está internado no Hospital Estadual Adão Pereira Nunes
depois de ter sido baleado na mesma operação policial. O presidente da
Comissão de Direitos Humanos da Assembleia Legislativa, deputado
Marcelo Freixo (PSOL),
chegou no fim da manhã desta terça-feira ao hospital, em Duque de
Caxias, para conversar com a família dos adolescentes sobre uma
possível inclusão no programa de proteção à testemunha.
Uma perícia realizada ontem pelo próprio diretor do Instituto de Criminalística Carlos Éboli, Sérgio da Costa Henriques, localizou vestígios que podem ser de sangue humano em cinco viaturas da PM que teriam sido usadas para transportar os policiais que atuaram na operação. Um levantamento via GPS solicitado pela 56ª DP (Comendador Soares), que investiga o caso, confirmou a presença dos veículos na favela Danon
. Novos exames serão feitos para verificar o material encontrado é
mesmo sangue humano. Em caso de confirmação, a família de Juan será
chamada para a coleta de DNA. Ainda não há previsão de quando será concluído o laudo pericial.
Ainda nesta terça-feira, o defensor público da 4ª Vara Criminal de Nova Iguaçu, Alberto Araújo, deve entrar com um pedido de liberdade provisória para Wanderson
dos Santos de Assis, de 19 anos, que está internado sob-custódia da
polícia também no Hospital Adão Pereira Nunes. A Polícia Militar afirma
que o rapaz é traficante e participou do tiroteio, mas parentes alegam
que ele trabalha e estuda.
A Defensoria Pública participou do encontro promovido pela Comissão de Direitos Humanos da Alerj, na manhã de segunda-feira, para discutir o caso Juan. Participaram da reunião a mãe de Juan e Weslley, Rosinéia Maria de Moares, de 31 anos, o irmão de Rosinéia, Carlos de Moraes, de 28, o pai de Wanderson, José Antônio de Assis, de 59 anos.
O sumiço do menino Juan foi marcado por contradições. Na sexta-feira passada, o comandante do 20º BPM (Mesquita), tenente-coronel Sérgio Luiz Mendes, informou que as armas dos policiais não haviam sido periciadas
pela Polícia Civil. Na segunda-feiras, no entanto, ele voltou atrás e
afirmou que só foi informado após a perícia. Até sábado, a informação
era de que o local onde houve a troca de tiros não havia sido periciado. Na segunda-feira, por meio da assessoria de imprensa da Polícia Civil, o delegado da 56ª DP, Cláudio Nascimento informou que "todas as perícias
que deveriam ser feitas foram realizadas semana passada. O local do
crime era muito grande e não foram encontrados vestígios do crime".

Agora eu pergunto, por que o assalto do filho do Ministro da Defesa Nelson Jobim passará a ser investigado por uma DP especializada, e não pela 14 ª DP ? Por que esse tratamento vip ? Cito como exemplo o meu atentado também, que está parado, não há investigação, e está sendo "investigado" pela 12ª DP e não por uma "especializada". A FARSA e as MENTIRAS das UPP's - Unidades de Polícia Pacificadora se revelando todos os dias.
Se me permitem um breve resumo das fases das UPP's por Sérgio Cabral: 1ª FASE: Sérgio Cabral lança as UPP's, promete o "fim" do tráfico de drogas nas comunidades pacificadas, instala as primeiras, engana o povo, e se reelege. 2ª FASE: Já eleito Sérgio Cabral, muda o discurso, diz que o tráfico de drogas não acabou nas comunidades com UPP's, mas diz que os traficantes não usam mais armas. 3ª FASE: Sérgio Cabral some por causa de escândalos de roubalheira, e a imprensa é obrigada a denunciar que o tráfico de drogas não acabou nas comunidades com UPP's, traficantes andam armados e matando moradores (por exemplo Complexo do Alemão), atacando e ferindo gravemente PM's com fuzis e granadas (por exemplo Morro da Coroa), e matando moto-taxistas que se recusam a pagar taxa para traficantes (por exemplo no Anadaraí). No caso dos moto-taxistas do Morro do Andaraí que está supostamente"ocupado" desde julho de 2010, ou seja, há quase um ano, o tráfico continua normalmente, e ameaçando os moto-taxistas a pagarem uma "taxa", caso contrário é a morte.
E digo mais, a morte desses dois moto-taxistas do Andaraí tem um culpado, se chama Sérgio Cabral, por que um deles morreu por que acreditou na UPP, leia-se Cabral, e não pagou os traficantes.
Está mais do que provado que as UPP's são uma farsa e um golpe. O próprio Comandante da PM, que comanda as UPP's, assumiu pela primeira vez ontem que os traficantes continuam armados e vendendo drogas nas comunidades ditas pacificadas, sobre esse assunto postarei daqui a pouco.
Moral da história, o povo foi vítima de 171 eleitoral, e o pior, pessoas inocentes estão morrendo !!!

Carlos Henrique Miguelão Júnior, de 29 anos, e Antonio Carlos dos Santos Reis, de 28, morreram no local. O ponto de mototáxi, formado em sua maioria por motociclistas moradores do Morro do Andaraí na maioria, fica a cerca de 500 metros da base da UPP, que chegou em julho de 2010 à comunidade. A Divisão de Homicídios investiga o caso como uma represália de traficantes da favela por não receber mais arrego dos motoqueiros.

Um turista morreu, caiu do bonde e o gradil quebrado não o segurou, quem é o culpado ?

O Governo Sérgio Cabral como sempre disse que "nunca é o culpado", e que a culpa seria do Iphan que deveria autorizar a manutenção do gradil pelo fato dos Arcos da Lapa serem tombados. Mas o Iphan DESMENTIU o Governo Sérgio Cabral, e disse que a manutenção do gradil NUNCA precisou de autorização. Em suma, uma pessoa morreu por culpa do Governo Sérgio Cabral que foi totalmente OMISSO na manutenção do gradil dos bondinhos. Alguém será punido por mais uma morte no Rio de Janeiro por culpa do Governo Sérgio Cabral ?
É isso que me deixa revoltado e put... da vida, esse DESCASO e OMISSÃO do poder público com o povo.
  RIO - O Instituto Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional (Iphan) informou, nesta segunda-feira, que o gradil dos Arcos da Lapa, no Centro do Rio, não é tombado e pode ser trocado ou suprimido sem nenhum necessidade de pedido de autorização junto ao órgão. Na sexta-feira, o turista francês Damien Charles Pierson, que viajava no estribo do bondinho, morreu ao se desequilibrar e despencar do alto dos arcos . No local onde Pierson caiu, havia um buraco no gradil, assim como em vários outros trechos do trajeto.
Na sexta-feira, a Secretaria estadual de Transportes, responsável pela operação dos bondinhos de Santa Teresa, afirmara, em nota, que o gradil tem o objetivo de evitar a queda de objetos, não tendo sido pensada para segurar um passageiro.
O Iphan informou que a única preocupação que tem com relação ao gradil
é que ele não danifique os arcos e interfira o menos possível "na
leitura visual do monumento" e que, "cabe aos órgãos competentes cuidar
da segurança dos passageiros". O Iphan informa que só pediu a substituição do gradil por causa da ferrugem, que estava manchando a pintura do monumento.

 Trinta e dois milhões de brasileiros acessam a internet em 107 mil LAN houses espalhadas pelo Brasil, segundo o Comitê Gestor de Internet no Brasil. O que significa dizer que 45% dos acessos à rede no país são realizados por meio desses locais.São usuários, na maior parte, jovens, com idade entre 14 e 24 anos, que possuem renda pessoal de até R$ 1.200 e trabalham e/ou estudam. Concentram-se em regiões carentes do Nordeste e do Sudeste e desembolsam, em média, R$ 2 por hora para ter acesso a serviços de internet. Sete em cada dez desses jovens concluíram no mínimo o oitavo ano do ensino fundamental. E 43% deles têm ensino médio completo ou superior incompleto. Eles trabalham de seis a oito horas por dia, quase a metade deles com carteira assinada, e 77% deles contribuem para a renda familiar. Os dados, obtidos com exclusividade pela Folha, constam de estudo sobre o perfil dos usuários de LAN houses realizado pela CDI Lan (empresa ligada à organização não governamental Comitê para Democratização da Informática) em parceria com a consultoria Plano CDE, especializada no mercado de baixa renda. Parte das informações será apresentada hoje em um seminário do BID (Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento) para discutir formas mais eficientes de apresentar serviços e produtos de mais qualidade para os consumidores de baixa renda. Na América Latina, esse mercado movimenta cerca de US$ 500 bilhões por ano. EMPREGO E EDUCAÇÃO "Mesmo sem computador ou sem acesso à internet, esse jovem busca informação e tecnologia fora de sua casa. Utiliza esse serviço, ao contrário do que se pensa, não apenas para jogar", afirma Luciana Aguiar, antropóloga e diretora da Plano CDE. Um dos pontos que mais chamam a atenção dos pesquisadores é o fato de um quarto desses jovens usar a LAN house para trabalhar e obter informações sobre emprego e formas de ganhar dinheiro, além de fazer cursos. No estudo, realizado com 891 usuários de todo o país, 40% deles responderam que investiriam em educação caso tivessem incremento na renda de R$ 500. Em seguida, aparecem as categorias meio de transporte (20%), tecnologia (13%) e consumo pessoal (7%) -vestuário, calçados e higiene pessoal. "Esse resultado mostra o potencial das LAN houses para oferecer cursos à distância, presenciais, além de crédito e produtos de inclusão financeira. As empresas ainda dão pouca atenção a esses consumidores", diz Bernardo Farias, diretor da CDI Lan. Até julho, a CDI Lan deve firmar acordo com empresa de grande porte de educação para iniciar cursos à distância em 20 LAN houses do Nordeste e Centro-Oeste. Em parceria com o Banco do Brasil, lançou recentemente o programa CorBan, que transforma LAN houses em correspondentes bancários. Hoje são 20 no país. INCLUIR OS EXCLUÍDOS Os usuários de LAN houses estão hoje distantes até mesmo do universo das pesquisas. Não estão em painéis de empresas de pesquisa on-line (comScore e Ibope). "A base da pirâmide passa muito distante dos radares das pesquisas tradicionais. É preciso ir além e procurar inseri-la nesses levantamentos", afirma Aguiar. A comScore, empresa líder mundial na medição de audiência digital, registra dados de usuários que acessam a rede em casa ou no trabalho em 45 países. Bem a verdade é que as UPA's de Sérgio Cabral são uma fraude e uma farsa, não funcionam, conforme mais uma vez comprovado pela matéria abaixo. AS UPA's são muito boas para os empresários que alugam por milhões os containers usados para o Governo do Rio !!!

 Durante os quatro dias do feriado prolongado, o Bom Dia Rio percorreu Unidades de Pronto Atendimento (UPA) na Região Metropolitana do Rio. Desde quinta-feira (23), 11 UPAs foram visitadas com uma câmera escondia. O objetivo era checar denúncias de que existem poucos médicos trabalhando e a situação ficaria pior nos fins de semana.
Os nomes dos médicos escalados para o plantão são publicados
diariamente no site da Secretaria estadual de Saúde. Clique aqui e veja o
horários de plantão dos médicos. A medida é para que qualquer pessoa
possa cobrar a presença dos profissionais.
Na quinta, o Bom Dia Rio percorreu três UPAs da Zona Oeste e a resposta dos atendentes era de que não havia médicos trabalhando. Na UPA de Irajá,
na sexta-feira (24), nenhum dos cinco médicos escalados para o
plantão, que começa às 7h, apareceu para trabalhar. Havia apenas um
clínico na unidade.
No domingo (26), na UPA de Duque de Caxias, na Baixada Fluminense, não havia nenhum médico pediatra para prestar atendimento. Em casos mais graves, os clínicos de plantão faziam o atendimento das crianças. O menino Cauã,
de 4 anos, abriu a testa e foi socorrido. “Vim de três hospitais e não
tem pediatra nenhum. Amanhã vou levar ele ao pediatra particular,
pagando”, contou a mãe do menino.

 RIO - O processo contra Carlos da Cruz Sampaio Junior, o falso tenente coronel da reserva do Exército Brasileiro, vai ser levado à Justiça Federal. O falso militar é acusado de usar uma falsa identidade para portar arma de fogo e comandar uma operação da Polícia Militar em agosto de 2010.
A juíza Maria Tereza Donatti,
titular da 29ª Vara Criminal do Rio, afirma que sua decisão que há
interesse da União em apurar o caso, por isso declinou da competência
para a Justiça Federal do processo:
"Acolho
o parecer do Ministério Público, pois há interesse da União na
apuração da prática de crime de falsificação de documento federal.
Assim, nos termos do artigo 109, inciso IV, da Constituição Federal,
declino da competência para uma das Varas Federais Criminais da Seção Judiciária do Rio de Janeiro", escreveu a juíza na decisão.
Carlos da Cruz Sampaio Júnior atuava na coordenação da Subsecretaria de Planejamento e Integração Operacional, auxiliando na distribuição dos policiais e no planejamento
integrado das polícias Civil e Militar. De acordo com o Ministério
Público, Sampaio apresentou-se no 17º Batalhão de Polícia Militar, em 4
de agosto
de 2010, vestindo uniforme militar, com a identificação "Coronel
Sampaio" e o crachá da Secretaria de Estado de Segurança Pública. Em
seguida, obteve junto ao Batalhão e mediante cautela, arma de fogo e
munições (fuzil M16, calibre 556) de propriedade da PM, sem a devida autorização legal ou regulamentar.
O falso coronel também comandou Policiais Militares em uma blitz realizada na Avenida Magistério, em Moneró, Ilha do Governador. Após a referida operação, que resultou na morte de um suspeito de roubo, Sampaio apresentou-se à 37ª DP (Ilha do Governador) para a confecção do Registro de Ocorrência, portando documento obtido de forma fraudulenta.

While we were not watching, conspiracy theory has undergone Orwellian redefinition.
A “conspiracy theory” no longer means an event explained by a conspiracy. Instead, it now means any explanation, or even a fact, that is out of step with the government’s explanation and that of its media pimps.
For example, online news broadcasts of RT have been equated with conspiracy theories by the New York Times simply because RT reports news and opinions that the New York Times does not report and the US government does not endorse.
In other words, as truth becomes uncomfortable for government and its Ministry of Propaganda, truth is redefined as conspiracy theory, by which is meant an absurd and laughable explanation that we should ignore.
When piles of carefully researched books, released government documents, and testimony of eye witnesses made it clear that Oswald was not President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, the voluminous research, government documents, and verified testimony was dismissed as “conspiracy theory.”
In other words, the truth of the event was unacceptable to the authorities and to the Ministry of Propaganda that represents the interests of authorities.
The purest example of how Americans are shielded from truth is the media’s (including many Internet sites’) response to the large number of professionals who find the official explanation of September 11, 2001, inconsistent with everything they, as experts, know about physics, chemistry, structural engineering, architecture, fires, structural damage, the piloting of airplanes, the security procedures of the United States, NORAD’s capabilities, air traffic control, airport security, and other matters. These experts, numbering in the thousands, have been shouted down by know-nothings in the media who brand the experts as “conspiracy theorists.”
This despite the fact that the official explanation endorsed by the official media is the most extravagant conspiracy theory in human history.
Let’s take a minute to re-acquaint ourselves with the official explanation, which is not regarded as a conspiracy theory despite the fact that it comprises an amazing conspiracy. The official truth is that a handful of young Muslim Arabs who could not fly airplanes, mainly Saudi Arabians who came neither from Iraq nor from Afghanistan, outwitted not only the CIA and the FBI, but also all 16 US intelligence agencies and all intelligence agencies of US allies including Israel’s Mossad, which is believed to have penetrated every terrorist organization and which carries out assassinations of those whom Mossad marks as terrorists.
In addition to outwitting every intelligence agency of the United States and its allies, the handful of young Saudi Arabians outwitted the National Security Council, the State Department, NORAD, airport security four times in the same hour on the same morning, air traffic control, caused the US Air Force to be unable to launch interceptor aircraft, and caused three well-built steel-structured buildings, including one not hit by an airplane, to fail suddenly in a few seconds as a result of limited structural damage and small, short-lived, low-temperature fires that burned on a few floors.
The Saudi terrorists were even able to confound the laws of physics and cause WTC building seven to collapse at free fall speed for several seconds, a physical impossibility in the absence of explosives used in controlled demolition.
The story that the government and the media have told us amounts to a gigantic conspiracy, really a script for a James Bond film. Yet, anyone who doubts this improbable conspiracy theory is defined into irrelevance by the obedient media.
Anyone who believes an architect, structural engineer, or demolition expert who says that the videos show that the buildings are blowing up, not falling down, anyone who believes a Ph.D. physicist who says that the official explanation is inconsistent with known laws of physics, anyone who believes expert pilots who testify that non-pilots or poorly-qualified pilots cannot fly airplanes in such maneuvers, anyone who believes the 100 or more first responders who testify that they not only heard explosions in the towers but personally experienced explosions, anyone who believes University of Copenhagen nano-chemist Niels Harrit who reports finding unreacted nano-thermite in dust samples from the WTC towers, anyone who is convinced by experts instead of by propaganda is dismissed as a kook.
In America today, and increasingly throughout the Western world, actual facts and true explanations have been relegated to the realm of kookiness. Only people who believe lies are socially approved and accepted as patriotic citizens.
Indeed, a writer or newscaster is not even permitted to report the findings of 9/11 skeptics. In other words, simply to report Professor Harrit’s findings now means that you endorse them or agree with them. Everyone in the US print and TV media knows that he/she will be instantly fired if they report Harrit’s findings, even with a laugh. Thus, although Harrit has reported his findings on European television and has lectured widely on his findings in Canadian universities, the fact that he and the international scientific research team that he led found unreacted nano-thermite in the WTC dust and have offered samples to other scientists to examine has to my knowledge never been reported in the American media.
Even Internet sites on which I am among the readers’ favorites will not allow me to report on Harrit’s findings.
As I reported earlier, I myself had experience with a Huffington Post reporter who was keen to interview a Reagan presidential appointee who was in disagreement with the Republican wars in the Middle East. After he published the interview that I provided at his request, he was terrified to learn that I had reported findings of 9/11 investigators. To protect his career, he quickly inserted on the online interview that my views on the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions could be dismissed as I had reported unacceptable findings about 9/11.
The unwillingness or inability to entertain any view of 9/11 different from the official view dooms to impotence many Internet sites that are opposed to the wars and to the rise of the domestic US police state. These sites, for whatever the reasons, accept the government’s explanation of 9/11; yet, they try to oppose the “war on terror” and the police state which are the consequences of accepting the government’s explanation. Trying to oppose the consequences of an event whose explanation you accept is an impossible task.
If you believe that America was attacked by Muslim terrorists and is susceptible to future attacks, then a “war on terror” and a domestic police state to root out terrorists become necessary to make Americans safe. The idea that a domestic police state and open-ended war might be more dangerous threats to Americans than terrorists is an impermissible thought.
A country whose population has been trained to accept the government’s word and to shun those who question it is a country without liberty in its future.

While we were not watching, conspiracy theory has undergone Orwellian redefinition.
A “conspiracy theory” no longer means an event explained by a conspiracy. Instead, it now means any explanation, or even a fact, that is out of step with the government’s explanation and that of its media pimps.
For example, online news broadcasts of RT have been equated with conspiracy theories by the New York Times simply because RT reports news and opinions that the New York Times does not report and the US government does not endorse.
In other words, as truth becomes uncomfortable for government and its Ministry of Propaganda, truth is redefined as conspiracy theory, by which is meant an absurd and laughable explanation that we should ignore.
When piles of carefully researched books, released government documents, and testimony of eye witnesses made it clear that Oswald was not President John F. Kennedy’s assassin, the voluminous research, government documents, and verified testimony was dismissed as “conspiracy theory.”
In other words, the truth of the event was unacceptable to the authorities and to the Ministry of Propaganda that represents the interests of authorities.
The purest example of how Americans are shielded from truth is the media’s (including many Internet sites’) response to the large number of professionals who find the official explanation of September 11, 2001, inconsistent with everything they, as experts, know about physics, chemistry, structural engineering, architecture, fires, structural damage, the piloting of airplanes, the security procedures of the United States, NORAD’s capabilities, air traffic control, airport security, and other matters. These experts, numbering in the thousands, have been shouted down by know-nothings in the media who brand the experts as “conspiracy theorists.”
This despite the fact that the official explanation endorsed by the official media is the most extravagant conspiracy theory in human history.
Let’s take a minute to re-acquaint ourselves with the official explanation, which is not regarded as a conspiracy theory despite the fact that it comprises an amazing conspiracy. The official truth is that a handful of young Muslim Arabs who could not fly airplanes, mainly Saudi Arabians who came neither from Iraq nor from Afghanistan, outwitted not only the CIA and the FBI, but also all 16 US intelligence agencies and all intelligence agencies of US allies including Israel’s Mossad, which is believed to have penetrated every terrorist organization and which carries out assassinations of those whom Mossad marks as terrorists.
In addition to outwitting every intelligence agency of the United States and its allies, the handful of young Saudi Arabians outwitted the National Security Council, the State Department, NORAD, airport security four times in the same hour on the same morning, air traffic control, caused the US Air Force to be unable to launch interceptor aircraft, and caused three well-built steel-structured buildings, including one not hit by an airplane, to fail suddenly in a few seconds as a result of limited structural damage and small, short-lived, low-temperature fires that burned on a few floors.
The Saudi terrorists were even able to confound the laws of physics and cause WTC building seven to collapse at free fall speed for several seconds, a physical impossibility in the absence of explosives used in controlled demolition.
The story that the government and the media have told us amounts to a gigantic conspiracy, really a script for a James Bond film. Yet, anyone who doubts this improbable conspiracy theory is defined into irrelevance by the obedient media.
Anyone who believes an architect, structural engineer, or demolition expert who says that the videos show that the buildings are blowing up, not falling down, anyone who believes a Ph.D. physicist who says that the official explanation is inconsistent with known laws of physics, anyone who believes expert pilots who testify that non-pilots or poorly-qualified pilots cannot fly airplanes in such maneuvers, anyone who believes the 100 or more first responders who testify that they not only heard explosions in the towers but personally experienced explosions, anyone who believes University of Copenhagen nano-chemist Niels Harrit who reports finding unreacted nano-thermite in dust samples from the WTC towers, anyone who is convinced by experts instead of by propaganda is dismissed as a kook.
In America today, and increasingly throughout the Western world, actual facts and true explanations have been relegated to the realm of kookiness. Only people who believe lies are socially approved and accepted as patriotic citizens.
Indeed, a writer or newscaster is not even permitted to report the findings of 9/11 skeptics. In other words, simply to report Professor Harrit’s findings now means that you endorse them or agree with them. Everyone in the US print and TV media knows that he/she will be instantly fired if they report Harrit’s findings, even with a laugh. Thus, although Harrit has reported his findings on European television and has lectured widely on his findings in Canadian universities, the fact that he and the international scientific research team that he led found unreacted nano-thermite in the WTC dust and have offered samples to other scientists to examine has to my knowledge never been reported in the American media.
Even Internet sites on which I am among the readers’ favorites will not allow me to report on Harrit’s findings.
As I reported earlier, I myself had experience with a Huffington Post reporter who was keen to interview a Reagan presidential appointee who was in disagreement with the Republican wars in the Middle East. After he published the interview that I provided at his request, he was terrified to learn that I had reported findings of 9/11 investigators. To protect his career, he quickly inserted on the online interview that my views on the Iraq and Afghanistan invasions could be dismissed as I had reported unacceptable findings about 9/11.
The unwillingness or inability to entertain any view of 9/11 different from the official view dooms to impotence many Internet sites that are opposed to the wars and to the rise of the domestic US police state. These sites, for whatever the reasons, accept the government’s explanation of 9/11; yet, they try to oppose the “war on terror” and the police state which are the consequences of accepting the government’s explanation. Trying to oppose the consequences of an event whose explanation you accept is an impossible task.
If you believe that America was attacked by Muslim terrorists and is susceptible to future attacks, then a “war on terror” and a domestic police state to root out terrorists become necessary to make Americans safe. The idea that a domestic police state and open-ended war might be more dangerous threats to Americans than terrorists is an impermissible thought.
A country whose population has been trained to accept the government’s word and to shun those who question it is a country without liberty in its future.

The departure of a pro-Palestinian flotilla planning to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza has been delayed, largely because of the efforts of an Israeli advocacy group, both sides said Tuesday. Greek authorities have detained two of the ships docked in Athens, including an American vessel, after the Israeli advocacy group Shurat HaDin-Israel Law Center submitted a complaint to the Greek Coast Guard suggesting that seven of the ships might be lacking insurance or were improperly registered.
Shurat HaDin has also contacted about 30 maritime insurance providers to warn that insuring the vessels may leave the companies open to prosecution for aiding a terrorist organization, said Nitsana Darshan-Leitner, the director of the group. (New York Times)
- Quartet to Present Mideast Peace Plan - Barak Ravid
In a last-minute effort to stop the Palestinians from seeking unilateral recognition at the UN in September, the Mideast Quartet is planning to present a new international peace plan based on President Obama's Mideast speech on May 19, at a summit in Washington on July 11, senior Israeli and European officials said Tuesday.
The Quartet summit will convene following pressure on the U.S. by Germany, France, and Britain to present an international peace plan. Israel has invested significant intelligence assets into assessing who and what is on the vessels expected to sail soon for Gaza so that "this time Israel won't be surprised," Israeli diplomatic officials said on Tuesday. Even if the UN votes in favor of a Palestinian state in September, Hamas, which represents many Palestinians, has made it clear that it would never recognize Israel's right to exist or accept the two-state solution. Hamas wants all the land, from the Mediterranean to the Jordan River. That is why any resolution adopted by the UN would not bring peace to the Middle East.
Abbas has raised the expectations of many Palestinians to a dangerous level, as many are now expecting to wake up in September to see a new state. But when that does not happen, and the Palestinians realize they have been once again sold false promises, they could turn to violence not only against Israel, but also against their leaders in the West Bank. Prime Minister Netanyahu told the Jewish Agency Board of Governors on Tuesday:
- We are fast approaching the time when the majority of Jews will live in the Jewish state. We [in Israel] already have the largest number of Jews in the world, but in a few years, we will do something that has defied the Jewish people for over two millennia, that is that the majority of the Jews will live in the Jewish state in the Jewish land.
- The overwhelming majority of Jews in Israel and outside Israel, Israelis in Israel and friends of Israel outside Israel, agree on the basic framework of peace, assuming we had a peace partner who wanted to make peace with Israel.
- We seek to achieve a peace and mutual recognition between two states, two nation-states for two peoples....This is the core of the conflict. This conflict is about the Jewish state. It's about the persistent refusal to accept that the Jews have a right for a nation-state of their own....It precedes the question of boundaries; it precedes the question of territorial dispute.
- I said numerous times that I will accept a Palestinian state. Now President Abbas must stand before his people and he has to say these six words: "I will accept the Jewish state."...And the only way that it's going to happen is by the external pressure that says to the Palestinian leadership: "Just say it."
- We don't want a repeat of what happened when we withdrew from Gaza or from South Lebanon. I believe that this will require for Israel to maintain a long-term military presence along the Jordan River. There will be arguments about sovereignty, about territory, but I think that the question of demilitarization and a long-term military presence along the Jordan River are essential to guaranteeing any peace. A peace you cannot defend will not hold. A peace you can defend will.
- What we have to achieve is an end to conflict - not to create a Palestinian state alongside the State of Israel to continue the conflict and try to dissolve Israel by flooding it with refugees or by inducing irredentist pressures on the Arabs of the Galilee or the Negev.

1. Israel Warns Assad He Is on Death List If He Attacks: Report

A Kuwaiti newspaper reports that Israel has warned Syrian President Bashar Assad that if he will be targeted if he tries to start a war with Israel to take the glare off his brutal suppression of the uprising in his country.
The al-Jarida newspaper reported that the warning was sent through mediators in Turkey following intelligence reports of exceptional movements of Syrian troops and re-location of long-range missiles.
Israel has not commented on the report.
Israel last month said there was clear evidence that the Syrian regime paid residents to storm the Israeli border at the Golan Heights and engage the army, which killed approximately a dozen Syrian Arabs in clashes.
"It's almost a cliché - this is what he [Assad] always does. He's under pressure at home, so he deflects attention," said Andrew Tabler, a Syria expert at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy and quoted by the British business news site IBTimes.
He said that Assad tried the same tactic in the Second Lebanon War in 2006 “by rallying the people around resistance to Israel, and this time it's with the Palestinian cause. This is not going to work."
Despite mounting opposition to Assad, Syrians are united in their hatred for Israel and their demand for the Golan Heights, where approximately 50 percent of the population now is Jewish.
The protest movement in Syria has not subsided, but Assad also has not backed off from using brute force to gun down demonstrators, whom the government has labeled as “armed gangs.”
The regime allowed 200 protest leaders to meet in Damascus this week, but activists said that Syria has arrested more than 1,000 people in the last seven days, including 100 students at Damascus University following a large anti-government rally.
IBTimes noted that although Israel the protest movement exacerbates Israel’s fear of Assad’s next moves, “it seems however unrealistic to think that Assad would attack Israel since he knows that is one thing the country's western allies will not allow him to do.”

2. Dutch Legislators Vote to Ban Kosher Slaughter

The Dutch parliament Tuesday overwhelmingly voted to ban kosher slaughter in the country, but the bill still must pass other hurdles before becoming law. The bill does not affect the import of kosher meat, however, importing meat will be a major financial burden for observant Jews, because of the high cost.
The parliament, in a 116-30 vote, ignored an appeal by Holland’s leading rabbis, who called the proposal irrational. The bill includes a loophole but one which would be difficult to employ. It states that ritual slaughtering by Jews, as well as by Muslims, can be permitted if it can be proved that the method is less painful than stunning, demanded by animal rights activists.
"This is absolutely impossible to prove. You can't ask the animal how it feels afterwards,” said Chief Rabbi Binyamin Jacobs. The legislators ignored an argument by British Chief Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, who visited Holland last week to present evidence that in 10 percent of the cases, stunning actually is more painful than the ritual cutting of an animal’s throat.
The bill theoretically would affect the country’s one million Muslims as well as 50,000 Jews, but Dr. Manfred Gerstenfeld, who has been following the issue closely, told Israel National News that large majority of Dutch Muslims do not care whether animals are stunned and then slaughtered according to the halal laws of Islam. Jewish law does not allow the practice.
He said that the proposal to ban kosher slaughtering reflects a growing resentment in the Netherlands of the growing Muslim community.
Dr. Gerstenfeld also noted that a product of a secularized country, such as Holland, is the emergence of “pseudo-religions.” One of them is the Animal Rights party. It has two seats in the parliament and sponsored the bill.
“Religious freedom stops where human or animal suffering begins,” according to Animal Rights leader Marianne Thieme.
The bill must be approved by the Senate and the government’s cabinet before becoming law, which could be appealed to the European court on the grounds that it violates the freedom of religion. The European Parliament last week rejected a demand by animal rights activists that kosher and halal meat be specifically labeled as coming from animals that are not stunned.
The Senate cannot defeat the bill, but a rejection would send it back to the parliament.

3. Dutch Jews 'Fearful' After Shechita Ban

Dutch Jews are beginning to wonder what's coming next after the lower house of the Netherlands parliament voted Tuesday to approve a ban on ritual slaughter of animals for kosher and halal meat. The bill, sponsored by the country's Animal Rights Party, stipulates that livestock must be stunned before slaughter.
In Jewish law, meat must by prepared through ritual slaughter before it can be declared kosher. Likewise, Islam requires similar procedures for halal meat but does not prohibit slaughter after stunning. A possible loophole in the new law – which has yet to pass the upper house of the parliament -- allows religious groups to continue the practice of ritual slaughter, if they can prove it is no more painful than stunning.
According to greater Netherlands Chief Rabbi Binyomin Jacobs, who was interviewed by INN several months ago on anti-Semitism in Holland, many Jews have called to ask what the future holds, given the fact that such a law could pass.
“Old people are scared, and young people who are just married are calling me to ask if they should stay here. Today it is the shechita and tomorrow, what? Circumcision? People are afraid,” Jacobs told the Reuters news agency.
“This is very painful,” Jacobs noted. “Those who survived the [second world] war remember the very first law made by the Germans in Holland was the banning of shechita, or the Jewish way of slaughtering animals.”
Although regulations in the European Union require stunning of animals prior to slaughter, exceptions are allowed for ritual slaughter. According to the European Court of Human Rights, production and purchase of ritually slaughtered meat is a religious right.
Nevertheless, a number of Scandinavian and other European countries have banned ritual slaughter, including Sweden, Norway, Luxembourg and Switzerland. 4. Britain's Long, Sad Journey of Jew Hatred

Slogans like “Zionism is Nazism” and “Israelis are fascists” are most likely to be shouted by far-left radicals, of the type that perform the “weekly hajj” to throw stones and bricks at IDF soldiers at Bil'in. But they didn't invent those slogans – and neither did anyone else on the left, says Professor Robert Wistrich of the Hebrew University.
“Those slogans – and that world view – was the stock in trade of the British elites, who spread stories about Zionism being totalitarian and Nazi during the 1930s and 40s.”
It's just one aspect of a long and rich history of Jew-hatred in Britain, says Wistrich, considered one of the world's leading experts on anti-Semitism. Britain, he says, has historically been one of the most anti-Semitic countries in Western Europe; not quite Germany, but far worse than France, for example. “Certainly today Britain is at the forefront of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism,” he says.
“For example, it's where the BDS (Boycott, Divest and Sanction) movement against Israel was first developed, and has been the most successful.” The headlines – British labor unions and universities banning Israeli products and academics, the British government's obsession with arresting IDF officers for “war crimes,” - are well known to Israelis.
Britain is also the world's fountain of disinformation and lies about Israel and Jews, says Wistrich, with the British media - “the quality press, like the Independent and Guardian, the BBC and other media outlets, the churches, etc. - spreading the worst caricatures and falsehoods about Israelis, how they treat Arabs, and the like.”
Wistrich, himself born in England – “this gives me greater insight into the nuances and meanings of press reports and attitudes,” he says – presented this history at a recent symposium hosted by Hebrew University's Vidal Sassoon International Center for the Study of Antisemitism (SICSA), titled “From Blood Libel to Boycott: The Changing Face of British anti-Semitism,” an historic evaluation of British anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism over the years.
And there is indeed much history to evaluate. Britain is not usually thought of as anti-Semitic country; it hasn't had a history of pogroms, for example. Although Jews were forbidden from living in the country for hundreds of years, it's very striking that Britain has had such an extensive history of anti-Semitism.
Britain was where the blood libel – which persisted in Europe for centuries and has had a revival in the Muslim world today (there was even one in upstate New York in 1928) was invented, Wistrich says. “William of Norwich was allegedly crucified by the Jews, to duplicate the crucifixion of Jesus. This was the first time in European history that such a charge was made, and it quickly spread throughout England, and then to France.”
Britain was also responsible for the first expulsion of Jews, in 1290, another “innovation” that was later copied by other European countries. And although Jews were not allowed to return for at least 350 years, British literature – from Chaucer to Shakespeare, who may never have met a Jew – was rife with Jew-hatred. “Most people see Britain as the birthplace of tolerance and democracy, which it may have been – but not for the Jews,” Wistrich says.
In modern times, British attempts to prevent the establishment of the State of Israel are well known. Although the British government issued the Balfour Declaration in 1917, the “Arabists” in the Foreign Office – who were the vast majority and set British foreign policy – very quickly worked to drop their obligations of setting up a Jewish state in mandatory Palestine. They had no problem lopping off three quarters of the Mandate to establish the Arab mandatory state, Transjordan.
And as the Nazis closed in on European Jewry, British officials went out of their way to prevent Jews from escaping to the one place where they had a chance of survival – the Jewish communities of the Land of Israel.
The attitude of the British elites, both in the Land of Israel and in London, is striking. “There are many communications between Colonial Office officials in London and Mandatory officials in Palestine discussing the evils of Zionism and Zionists,” says Wistrich. “The Zionists were accused of being Nazi-like, mistreating Arabs and considering themselves to be the 'master race' of Palestine; the youth movements were compared to Nazi Youth; and the Jews were seen to be at the heart of a cabal that sought to take over the world.”
Among the worst offenders was John Bagot Glubb, known as Pasha Glubb, who took command of Jordan's Arab Legion during Israel's War of Independence. Glubb's hatred for Israel and Jews extended to his advocacy of the theory that modern Jewry is descended from the Khazars – another “gem” that was also embraced by British elites, and eventually the Arabs, as well.
Many Israelis attribute Britain's anti-Israel stances today to the large number of Muslims in the country – and the fear among ordinary Britons of what could happen to them if they don't toe the “Muslim line.”
But that influence is a bit overblown, Wistrich says. “Most demographers believe that there are between 2.5 million and 3 million Muslims in Britain – a substantial number, but less than the 6 million in France, whose official institutions and elites are far less hostile to Jews and Israel.”
No, anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism is something the British themselves have to take responsibility for. “Since 1945 – and especially since 1967 – Israel can do no right in the eyes of England,” Wistrich says. “Anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism may not be official British government policy anymore, but among the elites and those with the most influence in society, it's all too common.”

5. Report: Britain Belatedly Arrests Muslim Radical Salah

Embarrassed British police belatedly arrested Muslim radical preacher Ra'ad Salah in the pre-dawn hours Wednesday after he entered the country freely and nearly spoke in parliament, according to Al Jazeera. British newspaper have not confirmed the arrest.
Salah is banned from the country, but airport police allowed him to enter.
Labor Members of Parliament had invited him to speak at the legislature despite the ban, which did not prevent him from passing through immigration inspection at Heathrow Airport. Al Jazeera reported that an Arab journalist said, "Pro-Israeli elements and Zionist institutions managed to get a restraining order against Salah” and that he was arrested in the middle of the night as deportation orders were prepared.
He was reportedly arrested only after British newspapers published his appearance. The Daily Mail wrote, “The joke of 'secure Britain': Vile banned militant extremist strolls through Heathrow immigration as 200 Somalian criminals are allowed to stay due to human rights.
A blog in the Daily Telegraph was headlined, “They'll let anyone in: anti-Semitic preacher Ra'ad Salah is in London despite being banned.”
Salah previously has been arrested and jailed several times in Israel for incitement and assaulting police officers.
Michael Weiss wrote in the Telegraph, “Last week, the Home Office issued an exclusion order against Sheikh Ra’ad Salah, an Israeli-Arab Islamist who heads the northern branch of the Islamic Movement, a Hamas-like gang of nutters whose house organ, Sawat al-Hak, Salah has used to describe Jews as ‘monkeys’ and ‘germs’ and ’butchers of pregnant women….’
“But somehow Salah landed happily at Heathrow at the weekend and looks all set to continue his speaking tour throughout London despite being persona non grata. Last night he had a do at Conway Hall. Tomorrow, he was scheduled to have appeared in the House of Commons.
“And what did David Cameron mean when he said this in Munich: Whether they are violent in their means or not, we must make it impossible for the extremists to succeed. Now, for governments, there are some obvious ways we can do this. We must ban preachers of hate from coming to our countries.”
The Daily Mail called Salah’s entry a “joke” and reported, “The cleric, leader of the northern branch of the Islamic Movement in Israel, also addressed an audience at Conway Hall, in London, on Monday evening.
“Police were said to be trying to hunt him down, but he was not arrested at the event though the power is available to officers if his presence in Britain is considered not to be 'conducive to the public good.’
“But last night his spokesman described how he strolled through border checks which were supposed to identify that he was on a list of banned fanatics.
“Lubna Masarwa said, 'This is not the first time the sheik has come to the UK. He came on a scheduled flight from Tel Aviv to Heathrow on Saturday June 25. He presented his passport. He was asked only a couple of questions about the purpose of his visit.'
“While the Ra'ad Salah shambles is a bitter blow to the UK Border Agency, it is also a huge embarrassment for the Labor Party, three of whose MPs were planning to share a platform with the fanatic.

6. Fayyad: UN's 'PA State' Symbolic Only

Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad admitted Tuesday that United Nations recognition of a PA state would basically change nothing.
Such recognition, he said, would not change the fact of Israeli “occupation,” he said in an interview this week with the Associated Press, making such a victory symbolic and nothing more.
“It is not going to be a dramatic result,” Fayyad said. Little will actually change, even if the PA is recognized in the U.N. General Assembly as a new Arab country, he explained. “Unless Israel is part of that consensus, it won't – because to me, it is about ending Israeli occupation.”
Fayyad has recently been striving to lower expectations on the Palestinian Authority street in anticipation of the September 20 vote. He and others are becoming increasingly concerned with what may follow the vote.
It is unlikely the U.N. Security Council will approve membership of the PA as a new Arab country in the international body. If, as expected, the U.S. vetoes such a move, the PA would hope to persuade America to reverse its position following recognition by the U.N. General Assembly, pointing out the powerful numbers and the broad range of international support for its cause.
Years of incitement against Israel, and repeated exhortations and promises by PA leaders, have built up the expectations of grassroots Arabs on the PA street. Such a disappointment may result in the kind of frustration that could lead to a massive 'Arab Spring'-type revolt or ignite a region-wide war.
Fayyad The Man to Blame
Ironically, it was Fayyad himself who first called for creation of a PA state in a speech delivered two years ago at the Al Quds University in Jerusalem.
By August 2009, he had already set into motion plans for the infrastructure and economy for the new country he envisioned in Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem. The plans called for an international airport in the Jordan Valley, foreign investors and stronger armed forces. Now, two years later, two out of the three points have been accomplished with generous support from the United States and the European Union.
By December 2010, Fayyad again confirmed to reporters that he remained fixed on the August 2011 deadling for declaring the PA as an independent sovereign entity if no final status agreement with Israel had been reached.

7. Poll: PA Arabs Would Chance Confrontation if State is Declared

A poll of Israelis and PA Arabs released Tuesday shows that half of Israelis believe that the chances of the UN recognizing a 23rd Arab state in Judea, Samaria and Yerushalayim were low – but 30% said that if such a state were declared, Israel should immediately begin negotiations with it and if there are none, Israel should not make any changes on the ground.
However, 76% of PA Arabs believe there isn't much to talk about. They said that if an Arab state is recognized in September, the PA must move to impose its sovereignty in all of Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – even at the cost of ensuing conflict.
Among the moves the large majority of PA Arabs would expect from their government would be the stationing of PA soldiers in Area C, which according to the Oslo Accords is supposed to be under full Israeli military and political control, and the construction of a new airport in the Jordan Valley, near Jericho. The PA army should also be prepared to take control of the Allenby Bridge crossing into Jordan, the respondents said.
With that, 62% of PA Arabs believe that the chances of a new Arab state being established were low, as even if the General Assembly approves it, the Security Council will not approve it due to the expected United States veto.
Among Israelis, 53% said the chances of such a state being established were low for the same reason.
The poll was taken jointly by the Truman Institute of Hebrew University, and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Opinion in Ramallah.
The PA will make a final decision on whether to seek statehood on Sunday, PA sources said. Last week, PA chief Mahmoud Abbas said that 116 out of 192 UN member states were prepared to vote to approve PA statehood.
Quartet member countries plan to meet with Abbas in two weeks in a last-ditch effort to convince him against seeking a UN vote on a PA state.

However, 76% of PA Arabs believe there isn't much to talk about. They said that if an Arab state is recognized in September, the PA must move to impose its sovereignty in all of Judea, Samaria and Jerusalem – even at the cost of ensuing conflict.
Among the moves the large majority of PA Arabs would expect from their government would be the stationing of PA soldiers in Area C, which according to the Oslo Accords is supposed to be under full Israeli military and political control, and the construction of a new airport in the Jordan Valley, near Jericho. The PA army should also be prepared to take control of the Allenby Bridge crossing into Jordan, the respondents said.
With that, 62% of PA Arabs believe that the chances of a new Arab state being established were low, as even if the General Assembly approves it, the Security Council will not approve it due to the expected United States veto.
Among Israelis, 53% said the chances of such a state being established were low for the same reason.
The poll was taken jointly by the Truman Institute of Hebrew University, and the Palestinian Center for Policy and Opinion in Ramallah.
The PA will make a final decision on whether to seek statehood on Sunday, PA sources said. Last week, PA chief Mahmoud Abbas said that 116 out of 192 UN member states were prepared to vote to approve PA statehood.
Quartet member countries plan to meet with Abbas in two weeks in a last-ditch effort to convince him against seeking a UN vote on a PA state.

8. Obama’s ‘Fantasy’ Rejects Bringing Home Envoy from Syria

U.S. President Barack Obama has rebuffed increasing demands to recall American Ambassador Robert Ford from Damascus and instead still wants to “engage” Assad, a policy France has implied is a fantasy.
Republican Senator John McCain, former U.S. spokesman at the United Nations Richard Grenell, and a senior Congresswoman have called on President Obama to recall Ford.
Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, the Republican head of the House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee, charged that Syrian President Bashar Assad is using him “for propaganda purposes.” Ford recently joined a government tour of northern Syria.
However, the U.S. State Department has kept up a continuous line of insisting that the United States is better off trying to influence Assad by keeping an ambassador in the country. The Obama administration has reversed the Bush administration’s recalling the ambassador several years ago from Syria, officially described as a country that support terror.
"Our review remains that Ambassador Ford is doing useful work in Damascus and in Syria, he continues to meet with a broad cross-section of Syrian opposition," U.S. State Department spokeswoman Victoria Nuland told reporters at a daily briefing. “We did think that his trip up north, even though it was organized by the Syrian government, allowed him to convey our messages.”
She claimed that one success of keeping Ford in Damascus was this week’s meeting of nearly 200 Syrian protest leaders in Damascus, without government intervention or arrests.
Grenell, writing in the Huffington Post, described the tour of northern Syria a trick by the Assad regime “to show the devastation caused by what government officials described as ‘foreign outlaws’ and ‘radical Islamists.'"
He declared that Ford “has since failed to respond or react” to the allegations on the tour and added, “Ford's silence dramatically contrasts with his tough talk during his confirmation hearing in March 2010 when he told Senators, ‘Unfiltered straight talk with the Syrian government will be my mission priority.’
Grenell said that President Obama and U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton “cling to the idea that Assad may still yet be a reformer [while] the Obama team misses the opportunity to topple the Syrian dictator and blunt Iran's influence in the region….
“With foreign journalists not allowed inside Syria, you might think the U.S. Embassy staff would be working overtime to tell the world and specifically the U.S. taxpayer just what is happening inside Assad's world. Shouldn't Ford be calling attention to and showing the violence coming from Assad's government?”
After Assad’s televised speech last week in which he continued to call protesters ‘armed gangs” and said Syrians are behind him, French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said that the Syrian president "has reached the point of no return" and that "there is no reason to take him seriously today.”
The Obama administration’s insistence to try to “engage” Assad is a measure of its “fantasy, Tony Badran, a research fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, wrote in Now Lebanon.
The White House has urged Assad to “end the use of violence now and promptly enact meaningful reforms that respect the democratic aspirations of the Syrian people, but Badran said, “The Obama administration’s dogged pursuit of ‘behavior change’ on the part of Assad is not merely restricted to rhetoric.

explodiu mais um bueiro no Rio de Janeiro, desta vez Senador Vergueiro
(Flamengo). É incrível ainda não haver uma vítima fatal, e poucos casos
graves. Mas não passa 15 dias sem aparecer nos jornais mais um caso de
explosão e, claro, sem nenhuma solução para estes casos.Será que já não passou a hora da ALERJ e da Câmara dos Vereadores abrir uma CPI para investigar estes problemas e com uma boa cobertura da imprensa? Depender da Prefeitura ou do Governo do Estado não vai adiantar. Eduardo Paes só repete que a Light vai ter que pagar pelos prejuízos… mas com tantos casos só isso não basta, queremos ter certeza que não vai acontecer de novo. O estranho é que não tinha casos de bueiros explodindo alguns anos atrás, o que será que aconteceu de lá para cá? E por que ainda não foi resolvido?
