Starbucks Bistro Boxes

I think I have mentioned this before, but in case you didn’t know – we live in the country.  We do not have the convenience of running to the grocery store down the road.  The closest store (which I do not care for at all) is 20 minutes away.  What this means is that once a week I take a trip to “the big town” to do my weekly shopping.  It is usually a given I will hit Sam’s Club and Meijer.  Then generally I have a couple other places to run as well – Target, Kohl’s Dicks, the mall – just depends what is on the list.  When all is said and done – by the time I drive an hour, shop for 3-4 (or more) hours and then get ready to head home – I am HUNGRY!   I suppose I could bring food along, but I rarely do.  Therefore, I generally end up running through a drive-through somewhere.  (I usually try to find something healthy, but it isn’t always easy!) Then, right on the way out of town is…  Starbucks!  My favorite place to stop as I am heading out!
The other day I discovered something really great!  Starbucks now has healthy & delicious Bistro Boxes!  I am very excited about these for two reasons:  1.) It saves me an extra trip; I can grab something to eat while I am running through the drive-thru to get my Sugar-Free Vanilla Bean Frappuccino.  2.)  These are much healthier than the many fast food options I have in my shopping district.
I decided to go with the Protein Bistro Box for my first try.

I have to say that I was quite impressed.  The food was well chilled and fresh.  The fruit was crisp and the bread was soft.  It was absolutely the perfect re-energizing lunch!
I also appreciate that all the Bistro Boxes are under 500 calories (most much below that)  My Protein box was 380, and if I didn’t eat the peanut butter, it would have been even lower.
Now of course, this isn’t a huge meal, but if you are looking for something quick and healthy on the run – this is perfect!  (and of course if you order a coffee or drink, that will help fill you up too!)  The price is $4.95 and they currently have eight declicious options to choose from.   I am looking forward to trying other varieties in the near future!  I have a feeling these are for sure going to be one of my go-to items when I am in town – it’s the perfect quick, yummy (& healthy) solution!
