As I was huffing up the stairs of an unbearably hot subway, I started wondering if my bacon-based diet could be better. I don't have any excuses, and I certainly don't have any food allergies like some folks. Oh, I can't have dairy unless I take that pill thing, but it really is as simple as that "pill thing." Others aren't so lucky.

You CAN Make Gluten-Free Bread 
I apparently craved gluten before I knew gluten was called gluten. Can this bread be as yummy as bread brimming with gluten? Teri, our Guide to Gluten-Free Cooking, says yes. She also said, "Duh. Why would I be doing this if it didn't taste good?" I paraphrased that because this is a family newsletter.
Baking Without Butter 
OK, this is clearly a made-up story. Don't even bother clicking. There is no way to bake without butter. Meanwhile, I am going to hide this article from my wife and cardiologist.
Easy & Tasty Ways to Go Vegetarian 
Sometimes it's not an allergy that moves a person to change their dietary ways. And if we could agree to alter the definition of vegetarian so that it includes the occasional cheesesteak with onions (the cheese being the whiz kind), then I think I'd like to go vegetarian.
What's a Whole Food Diet? 
And when I say "diet," I don't mean the whole "eating less" thing. I mean choosing the right types of foods. My family recently joined a food co-op and it's really opened my eyes to things (like eating in season).
