Vladimir_Putin_640.jpg

Friends and colleagues,

As the Ukraine situation has worsened, unconscionable misinformation and hype is being poured on Russia and Vladimir Putin.

Journalists and pundits must scour the Internet and thesauruses to come up with fiendish new epithets to describe both.

Wherever I make presentations across America, the first question ominously asked during Q&A is always, "What about Putin?"

It's time to share my thoughts which follow:

Putin obviously has his faults and makes mistakes. Based on my earlier experience with him, and the experiences of trusted people, including U.S. officials who have worked closely with him over a period of years, Putin most likely is a straight, reliable and exceptionally inventive man. He is obviously a long-term thinker and planner and has proven to be an excellent analyst and strategist. He is a leader who can quietly work toward his goals under mounds of accusations and myths that have been steadily leveled at him since he became Russia's second president.

I've stood by silently watching the demonization of Putin grow since it began in the early 2000s - - I pondered on computer my thoughts and concerns, hoping eventually to include them in a book (which was published in 2011). The book explains my observations more thoroughly than this article. Like others who have had direct experience with this little known man, I've tried to no avail to avoid being labeled a "Putin apologist". If one is even neutral about him, they are considered "soft on Putin" by pundits, news hounds and average citizens who get their news from CNN, Fox and MSNBC.

To protect itself from Hamas rockets and tunnels, Israel is forcing tens of thousands of people out of their homes, turning their old neighborhoods into a no-man's land.

This narrow strip of land that used to be called "the Gaza Strip," already one of the more densely populated places on Earth, is growing dramatically smaller. The Israeli military, relentlessly and methodically, is driving people out of the 3-kilometer (1.8 mile) buffer zone it says it needs to protect against Hamas rockets and tunnels. According to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, the buffer zone eats up about 44 percent of Gaza's territory.

What that means on the ground is scenes of extraordinary devastation in places like the Al Shajaya district approaching Gaza's eastern frontier, and Beit Hanoun in the north. These were crowded neighborhoods less than three weeks ago. Now they have been literally depopulated, the residents joining more than 160,000 internally displaced people in refuges and makeshift shelters. Apartment blocks are fields of rubble, and as I move through this hostile landscape the phrase that keeps ringing in my head is "scorched earth."

_20Geoffrey_Pyatt_Role_in_topp.jpg

It turns out that the man the U.S. State Department chose to handle the the latest phase of Russia demonization played an integral role in the toppling of the Ukrainian government.

Yesterday, July 27th, the U.S. state department decided to launch what turned out to be a rather weak propaganda spasm in their long running campaign against Russia. Interestingly, this round involved satellite images which were supposedly taken four days after the MH17 crash, but if you were expecting these images to be the long awaited evidence proving that the separatists shot down MH17 you are in for a disappointment. No, the images released by the U.S. State Department have absolutely nothing to do with the downing of MH17, or any other aircraft for that matter. These images supposedly show that Russia fired artillery into Ukraine recently.

DNI_201_20big.jpg
Comment: U.S. government officials and their NeoCon puppet masters must be getting very desperate to be carrying on like this. If WE can see that their 'evidence' is faked and their 'facts' about Putin's Russia all lies, do they really think other countries' elites can't see this??

Their little psychopathic minds are so completely divorced from objective reality!

As the bombs drop in Gaza and in eastern Ukraine, another siege has been underway in Great Britain. A sustained barrage of a different kind of bombshell continues to rain down on the centre of power in Westminster...

An epidemic of paedophiles, or to be more accurate, of 'Pederasts', has for decades, freely festered in and around the governing institutions, as well as inside media and entertainment in the UK. Will we ever truly know the full scale and scope of this problem?

220px_Art_gr_C3_A8cia.jpg

Past proponents of the sordid practice (image, left, of ancient paedohile folklore), like the part publicly-funded Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), were even paid to lobby for a more relaxed paedophile culture in Britain, including active lobbying to lower the age of consent to 12 years old. Many of those who were involved or helped to facilitate PIE's presence in Westminster - are still in government, or quango organisations today.

A culture of denial has taken over the halls of Westminster, with countless MP's and bureaucrats are said to be linked to not only to Jimmy Savile, but also other child sex rings that were being operated out of Boys Homes in both London, North Wales and elsewhere. The scale of the problem is immense.

It's doubtful that the public will ever know the true extent of this plague which remains obscured by complicit members of the political elite, the police, the security services and most importantly - the judiciary - as well as the mainstream press - as key men and women play their roles in covering for those known to be involved in this wretched and highly organised practice that ruins so many young lives, and is used to blackmail and control so many in the seats of power and influence.

The US government has been desperate to produce information to back up its claims, but it would not release important information in such an unprofessional way if it was true, the head of the Institute for Political Economy Paul Craig Roberts told RT.

On July 27 the US State Department released satellite images via email "proving" that Russia was firing rockets at Ukrainian troops across the border. The images were posted on Twitter by the US ambassador to Ukraine, Geoffrey Pyatt. The four-page document, titled 'Evidence of Russian Shelling into Ukraine,' contains four satellite images, all dating between July 21 and July 25/26. The slides were prepared by the US Office of the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), and have a short description.

kerry_netanyahu_300x187.jpg

United States Secretary of State John Kerry has attracted the ire of Israel following his latest failed attempt to broker a ceasefire in Gaza, and American officials are warning thata wider rift in relations could come with serious repercussions.

On Friday last week, Sec. Kerry reportedly presented Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu with a draft proposal calling for a seven-day halt of fighting in Gaza, where more than 1,000 Palestinians - mostly civilians - have been killed in the last month; in that same span, the Israeli Defense Forces have suffered nearly 50 deaths but have continued an onslaught that the United National Security Council formally opposed early Monday.

The "Framework for Humanitarian Cease-Fire in Gaza" presented by Kerry failed to impress Netanyahu's office, however, and Israel has since embarked on a campaign to condemn the secretary of state's efforts by saying the US proposal did not do enough to stop Palestinian militants with the group Hamas from furthering its own, comparatively less successful campaign against the IDF.

In a raid seeking information related to Israel's Iron Dome missile defense system, Chinese hackers infiltrated the databases of three Jewish defense contractors.

Comment: Note the bastardization of the term "raid." They've "infiltrated the databases." Probably by exploiting the Interwebs through a Darkweb on Tor which is a 0 day bitcoin.

In addition to taking information on the Iron Dome, the attackers were also able to nab plans regarding other projects - including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles, ballistic rockets, and "detailed schematics and specifications" for the Arrow III missile interceptor.

According to independent journalist Brian Krebs, the intrusion occurred between 2011 and 2012 and was carried out by China's infamous "Comment Crew" - a group of cyber warriors linked to the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA).

Comment: Yes, yes. The infamous Comment Crew, truly deadly and terrifying. We've all heard about them right? Puhlease.

In May, the United States charged five members of this group with cyber espionage against American computer networks. The hackers reportedly infiltrated US systems in order to "steal information that would provide an economic advantage" for Chinese companies, including "Chinese state-owned enterprises."

Remember this: NSA spies on China telcoms giant Huawei and what about 'NSA has carte blanche to hack computers' or this China lambasts US spy tactics as 'complete disregard for moral integrity' and don't forget this: Ouch! China to ditch U.S. consulting firms over espionage suspicion

mh17_20black_20box.jpg

Ukraine says black boxes recovered from downed Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 show shrapnel from a rocket explosion caused the passenger jet to crash.

The finding was revealed as a convoy of international inspectors, including Australian Federal Police officers, abandoned an attempt to reach the crash site for the second day running amid fierce fighting in the rebel-held area.

Data from the doomed airliner's black boxes was decrypted in Britain after being handed over to Malaysian officials by the pro-Russian rebels controlling the crash site.

Ukraine's National Security and Defence Council spokesman Andriy Lysenko said international investigators believed data from the flight recorders show "the reason for the destruction and crash of the plane was massive explosive decompression arising from multiple shrapnel perforations from a rocket explosion".

Surface-to-air missiles such as the Buk system widely believed to have shot the passenger jet down can explode near their targets, blasting a cloud of shrapnel into them.

Investigators leading the probe in the Netherlands, which lost 193 citizens in the air disaster, refused to confirm the latest information from Kiev, saying that they were "waiting to get a more complete idea of what happened".

Kiev and its Western allies, including Australia, have accused insurgents of shooting down the plane, killing all 298 people on board, including 38 Australian citizens and residents.
Comment: This is a complete fabrication ... the black box cannot answer the question who or what caused the crash of MH17!

The "black box" (actually orange) consists of two parts: The Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR) and the Flight Data Recorder (FDR).

The CVR records the conversation between the pilots and their communication with air traffic control.
The FDR records flight parameters like aircraft heading, speed, change in altitude, engine setting and a lot of other parameters.

Neither can distinguish between a rocket from the ground, an air-to-air missile or a bomb on board. The FDR would only show a catastrophic collapse of vital aircraft systems and a rapid loss of altitude. The only clue would come from the CVR, if the pilots had the time and an awareness of what was happening - which is more than doubtful.

So if there is any clue in the CVR, they should immediately publish the whole transcript!

Governments do not dictate major policy, major multinational corporations do. We've seen this time and time again, and one of the best examples out there is Monsanto. This time, the United States government wants to force GMO seeds on El Salvadorian farmers.

Encouraged by the U.S. Embassy, the Millennium Challenge Corporation had "granted" El salvador 277 million dollars to "improve El Salvador's competitiveness and productivity in international markets." This, however, would not come without certain commitments and obligations, which included a commitment to ensure that the Ministry of Agriculture's procurement of corn and bean seed would "be consistent with the provisions of the CAFTA-DR( Dominican Republic-Central America-United States Free Trade Agreement)." (1)

"We are asking the Government of EL Salvador to implement the procurement program for corn and bean seeds in a competitive, objective, and transparent manner that demonstrates to all stakeholders both EL Salvador's commitment to the CAFTA-DR, as well as its commitment to good governance. Such principles are inherent in the provisions of the CAFTA-DR." (1)

Ukraine's ruling coalition has dissolved itself to trigger an early parliamentary election after the government resigned. The war-torn and impoverished country is to undergo a massive political reboot, which is expected to strengthen the president.

The nationalist Svoboda (Freedom) party, and the Udar (Strike) party of former boxing champion Vitaly Klitschko, had a majority in parliament, acquiring it in the wake of the February armed coup, which ousted President Viktor Yanukovich from Ukraine.

On Thursday, they announced that they were leaving the ruling coalition. Ukrainian law says that unless MPs manage to form a new majority of at least 226 representatives within a month, an early election would be called for.

This is exactly the result that the Udar and Svoboda factions want. In his inauguration speech, before the parliament, President Petro Poroshenko declared his intention to hold early parliamentary elections within a month. Udar are allies of Poroshenko, who has not got MPs of his own in the current parliament. The nationalists from Svoboda are expected to win more seats in the snap election, considering Ukraine's current pro-war nationalistic moods.

The snap election may be held as soon as October 26.
Comment: And this is how deeply ponerized governments work. They outlaw any reasonable dissent from political parties that hold any opposing views from the ruling party. In this case, the Communist Party of Ukraine is being effectively neutralized so that no dissent may be given a clear voice about the ruling party or parties' policies and agendas. Don't be surprised if the Communist Party becomes even further vilified or set up to take the blame for something that isn't their own doing ala a 'Reichstag Fire' type event -though the way seems clear enough for President Petro Poroshenko and his ilk to do their psychopathic will without such an event.

fisa_judges_buy_verizon_stock_.jpg

Judges who serve on the FISA court, approving the government's collection of phone metadata, have bought Verizon stock in the last year. Although the justices have financial involvement in the company, it is not considered a conflict of interest.

Under the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), the National Security Agency and other members of the country's intelligence community must request approval from a top-secret court (the FISA court) to be able to legally place an individual under electronic surveillance. They must show that there is probable cause that the targets "are or may be" aligned with a terrorist organization with the purpose of carrying out acts of terrorism against the United States. The authorizations to conduct surveillance must be renewed by FISA every 90 days.

Many of those requests involve Americans who use Verizon.

In January, Verizon Communications became the first American company of its kind topublish information about the number of requests for user data it received last year from federal investigators and law enforcement agencies.

Verizon's so-called transparency report revealed that local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies in the United States requested customer information no fewer than 320,000 times during the last calendar year.

The extraordinary propaganda being conducted against Russia by the US and UK governments and Ministries of Propaganda, a.k.a., the "Western media," have the purpose of driving the world to war that no one can win. European governments need to rouse themselves from insouciance, because Europe will be the first to be vaporized due to the US missile bases that Europe hosts to guarantee its "security."

As reported by Tyler Durden of Zero Hedge, the Russian response to the extra-legal ruling of a corrupt court in the Netherlands, which had no jurisdiction over the case on which it ruled, awarding $50 billion dollars from the Russian government to shareholders of Yukos, a corrupt entity that was looting Russia and evading taxes, is telling. Asked what Russia would do about the ruling, an advisor to President Putin replied, "There is a war coming in Europe." Do you really think this ruling matters?"

The West has ganged up on Russia, because the West is totally corrupt. The wealth of the elites is based not only on looting weaker countries whose leaders can be purchased (read John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hit Man for instruction on how the looting works), but also on looting their own citizens. The American elites excel at looting their fellow citizens and have wiped out most of the US middle class in the new 21st century.

Pope Francis made an emotional plea for peace on Sunday in an impromptu addition to comments delivered at his weekly Angelus address in Saint Peter's Square.

As the Argentinian-born pontiff wrapped up his regular address to the faithful, he spoke of the upcoming centenary of the outbreak of World War One and said his thoughts were on the Middle East, Iraq and Ukraine in particular.

With his voice appearing to crack with emotion, the pope broke off from his scripted remarks to make a direct appeal for fighting to end.

"Please stop!, I ask you with all my heart, it's time to stop. Stop, please!"

While he made no direct reference to the situation in the Gaza Strip, the comments came after a humanitarian truce broke down on Sunday with the resumption of fighting in which more than 1,000 people, mostly civilians including dozens of children, have been killed.

eurasia_new_great_game_si.jpg

The New Great Game in Eurasia never ceases to thrill with extreme plot twists. The Big Three players remain the same: the US, Russia and China. The devil is in the concentric subplots.

In Washington, the deep state Russia 'policy' has revealed itself to be sanctions, sanctions, sanctions; because of Crimea, because of support for federalists in Eastern Ukraine, because of the MH17 tragedy.

Sanctions are targeting Russia's energy, defense and finance - and are fast on their way towards all-out economic war, which in itself is a declaration of war. As with Cuba; as with Iraq (until there was regime change); as with Iran (until there is a nuclear deal, and even that is a major 'if').

Beware the wrath of the Empire of Chaos. The prescription is always the same; sanctions; no holds barred geo-economic/political warfare; internal subversion (NED, assorted NGOs); and non-stop vitriol marinated in hubris.

In Moscow, there are no illusions; no matter what the Kremlin does on Ukraine, there won't be any 'reset'. Washington's sanction hysteria - which has far surpassed the level of containment - is even regarded as a means towards (what else?) regime change, Putin's huge popularity notwithstanding. No wonder US Think Tankland is drooling about it.

Margaret Thatcher and her ministers were warned of child abuse claims against senior Tory figures in the 1980s, it was claimed today.

A former bodyguard to the Iron Lady revealed he told her to her face about rumours about one of her closest aides holding parties with underage boys.

And it was claimed a dossier on Establishment abuse handed to then-Home Secretary Leon Brittan named senior ministers Sir Keith Joseph and Sir Rhodes Boyson.

Westminster has been rocked by claims of senior politicians involved in sex abuse, and allegations of a cover-up.

Home Secretary Theresa May ordered a wide-ranging inquiry into how successive governments, charities, political parties, the NHS, the BBC and the Church failed to protect children from paedophiles.

But its chairman Baroness Butler-Sloss was forced to quit over criticism that her brother, Sir Michael Havers, had been attorney general in the Cabinet in the 1980s, and was accused of a 'cover-up' over a refusal to prosecute Foreign Office diplomat Sir Peter Hayman, who was a member of the Paedophile Information Exchange.

Two weeks on, there is still no sign of a new chairman being appointed, but the tide of allegations about child abuse at the highest levels of the Establishment continue to emerge.

Today's AM fix was USD 1,307.50, EUR 972.84 and GBP 770.39 per ounce.
Yesterday's AM fix was USD 1,305.00, EUR 971.20 and GBP 768.55 per ounce.

Gold climbed $2.30 or 0.18% yesterday to $1,305.10/oz and silver rose $0.12 or 0.58% to $20.62/oz.

Gold rose 0.4% in London this morning after gold in Singapore traded sideways overnight. Futures trading volume continues to increase and was almost double the average for the past 100 days for this time of day, Bloomberg data shows.

Silver for immediate delivery rose 0.8% to $20.73 an ounce in London. Platinum was 0.1% lower at $1,486.82 an ounce. Palladium gained 0.3% to $883.63/oz and remains close to a 13 year nominal high of $889.75.

Geopolitical tension in Europe and in the Middle East is supporting gold. Israel's military pounded targets in the Gaza Strip on Tuesday after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said his country should prepare for a long conflict in the Palestinian enclave, squashing any hopes of a swift end to 22 days of fighting.

Gaza residents reported heavy Israeli bombing in Gaza City. Israeli aircraft fired a missile at the house of a Hamas Gaza leader and flattened it before dawn. An Israeli military spokeswoman said 70 targets were struck in Gaza through the night. At least 30 people were killed in the assaults from air, land and sea, residents said, after a night of the most widespread attacks so far in the tiny enclave.

The new sanctions are set to inflame relations further. They are on "key sectors" of Russia's economy, U.S. Deputy National Security Adviser Tony Blinken said yesterday. Russia also signaled possible retaliation, announcing yesterday that it may ban imports of chicken from the U.S. and fruit from Europe because of concern about contamination.

Ninety-one percent (91%) of Israeli Jews support Israel's campaign against the people of Gaza, according to a survey published Monday - and just 4.2% believe the operation is a "mistake."

The survey also revealed that 85% of respondents would only support a cease-fire agreement if Israel eliminated every Hamas rocket and destroyed the full network of terror tunnels before agreeing to do so.

Seventy-seven percent (77%) of Israeli Jews polled "very strongly support" Operation Protective Edge's airstrikes on Gaza; 17% "support" the airstrikes; and 4.5% had "weak support" for the airstrikes. Just 1.5% of respondents opposed the airstrikes on Gaza.

Similarly, 50% "strongly support" the IDF's ground offensive in Gaza; 28% "support" the ground campaign and 14% have "weak support" for the campaign. By contrast, only 9% of respondents oppose sending ground troops into Gaza.

Eighty-two percent (82%) of respondents "strongly disagree" with the statement "Israel launching Operation Protective Edge was a mistake"; 11% only "slightly disagree." Just 7% of respondents "agree" or "strongly agree" with that statement.

The opening was so small that CNN's Wolf Blitzer -- no physical giant -- had to bend down to climb inside one of 30 or so Palestinian tunnels from Gaza to southern Israel.

"I guess the tunnel was built for relatively short people, because if you stand up you're going to hit your head," Blitzer said of the almost two-mile concrete corridor about 45 feet underground where he reported from Monday.

His visit, accompanied by the Israeli military, revealed conditions in the network of tunnels below Gaza that are a key issue in the current violent spasm between Hamas militants in Gaza and Israel.

Originally built to avoid Israeli and Egyptian checkpoints into Gaza, the tunnels have been vital supply lines for Palestinians in Gaza. Now the snaking underground routes increasingly get used for attacks in Israel.

Comment: Says who? Where is the proof?
Comment:

More tunnel BS from Israel. They are constantly trying to make Hamas and the Gaza Palestinians look more sophisticated and capable than they really are.

In an embarrassing leak, a detailed memo outlining Georgia Democratic Senate nominee Michelle Nunn's game plan for winning her election surfaced Monday.

National Review reporter Eliana Johnson posted the document, which she wrote came from sources who noticed it was accessible online in December, apparently by accident.

Most of the sections in the 144-page document are unremarkable, if annoying, for a campaign to see aired outside its offices - such as the Nunn campaign's strategies for courting LGBT donors or for winning over gun owners.

But the most passed-around parts concerned what the campaign believed were Nunn's vulnerabilities heading into the election. Once again, many of them were so obvious for a Democrat running in Georgia they barely needed to be written down - the campaign anticipated attacks that Nunn was "too liberal," "a rubber stamp for Democrats," and "not a 'real' Georgian."

Comment: Softball criticisms meant to humanize her. Too liberal is like saying too nice. How about she's a faux liberal shill who will vote whatever way the power elite want her to, regardless of her meaningless party affiliation?

Several people have reportedly been fired after criticizing the Israeli Gaza offence on social networks, or expressing joy over the deaths of Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) troops.

As violent confrontation in the Gaza Strip continues, with the Palestinian death toll already exceeding 1,000 and Israeli deaths being over 50, another battle has broken out on social networks.

Supporters and opponents of both sides have been flooding Facebook, Twitter and YouTube with emotional posts, photos and videos and have even launched a campaignurging an end to the war.

However, being too emotional in the expression of feelings online has cost several people their jobs and scholarship, according to Haaretz.com.

As SOTT readers know, all people everywhere, those both awake and asleep, are engaged in an information war through which the power structures of the so-called 'progressive western nations' have pervaded all levels of global society - something that is readily apparent in the media, which effectively speaks as one voice on all things that matter.

Facts about world events are routinely twisted, invented or not mentioned at all. The powers that be prefer that we don't interfere and that we don't speak up against their crimes.

In Germany, as elsewhere, people are are fed up with the incessant barrage of lies in mainstream media. While there are some alternative news sites and blogs, what has been missing in Germany for far too long is a counterweight to the plethora of mainstream, corporate, US-centric news outlets.

Russian media outlet RT is currently available in Russian, English, Spanish, and Arabic. There is an opportunity to establish a German-language version of RT.com. An online petition has set a target of 100,000 votes its organizers hope will lead to establishing 'RT auf Deutsch' in Germany.

We the editors of de.sott.net believe that having RT in yet another language strengthens the signal being sent to the universe that we, the thinking and caring people of this world, do not want any more twisting of facts and do not want any more lies in the name the psychopathic elites' murderous war-mongering and deviant ambitions for totalitarian global control.

The talk by Eran Efrati was filmed in Denver, Colorado on March 3, 2014 as part of The Soldier and the Refusenik U.S. tour with Maya Wind. Eran talked about his experiences in the IDF and then more broadly discusses Israel, its relationship to the U.S. and the global expansion of militarism.
Comment: The entire video is a Must Watch, as ex-Israeli soldier Eran Efrati describes his brutal disillusionment and subsequent awakening to his country's propaganda and the true reason why IDF continues steadily with the genocide of Palestinians.

Here is the transcript of the last 10 minutes of the talk that our SOTT editors loosely transcribed. People living in the U.S. might want to pay special attention to this part:
And during this time I am discovering something amazing. The more I go in looking for occupation, the more I find money. And I don't understand, so I am going deeper and deeper and then in 2010 I am getting into a very interesting story about how the Israeli government and Israeli army was selling a new tear gas canister to the police and government of Singapore people. They are buying tear canisters to fight their own protests in their country. And during this time I am looking and I am saying, "Israel is selling tear gas canisters?!"

So I am going into the website of this minister of security in Israel and I am finding out that they are saying that, "Israel just concluded a deal with the Singapore government of selling the best tear gas canister ever produced and tried by the Israeli army". And it mentioned there a few lines later that this tear gas canister was proven to be "the deadliest ever".

And I am going back and I am saying, "Wait... Tried the tear gas canister? Who would agree to try...?"

And then I understand. They are trying their weapons every day. Not in labs, down there in the field. I was trying their weapons in Biilin, in Ni'lin, in Hebron, in East Jerusalem [and other Palestinian communities], we are trying the weapons every day, and then we are selling them outside. And I can't believe the things that I am seeing, so I am going deeper and deeper and then I realized... You remember these guys, the young guys who threw stones at the beginning of the protests? They were not Palestinians. They were actually an undercover unit of the Israeli army, looking like me, Arab-Jews, disguised as Palestinians inside these villages starting a riot, starting something, so that the Israeli army will have a good excuse to start shooting the place up and testing the weapons!

And the more I go deeper the more I can't understand. Is this for real? How long is this going for? How much money are we making? I am going in and in and then I discovered. In the last 30-40 years - and this is a very, very partial list - this is the list of the dictatorships and regimes that the Israeli government, the Israeli army, is trading weapons with: trading knowledge with, trading technology or training their soldiers by themselves in those countries. The last 40 years we were involved in the worst dictatorships and regimes in the world. And we are making a killing out of it. Literally. We are making so much money out of it.

And then I understand. This is not an occupation. It's a laboratory. Sometimes as a soldier I would infuse poison to Palestinians. Sometimes as a protestor I would run away with Palestinians and be a lab rat. But all this time, we are trying weapons out and selling them out there. It's the source of everything. It's not the religion, it's not the land, there's a lot, a lot of money, and I understand that I am standing in the wrong place. And I am moving to New York City, from Jerusalem, it's a big change. And for the last 3 years in NYC I am researching the relationship between our army and your [U.S.] army. Our government and your government and all the money that flows in the middle.
He goes on to say how an interaction with a Maryland police officer gives him more perspective. When Eran says he is from Israel, the police officer replies:
"Oh men, you guys are bad asses, you know how to silence the one that opposes you, you know how to come down, nobody disobeys you, you guys are the best!"

And I am saying, "I don't think you know a lot about the Israeli army, so, you know, never mind..."

He says, "Oh no no, I just came back from there."

I say, "What? As a tourist?"

He says, "No, with the Maryland police, we just came back from training with your military and your police.

I say, "What?"

He says, "You know all of our police force here in the U.S. is going few weeks to Israel and train with your army and your police."

Then before I leave his [police officer] car I am asking, "Is there a chance you know Mr Efrati? My father, the head of the investigation of Jerusalem police?"

And the guy takes out his cell phone and flips his pictures, and he got a picture with my dad, in the middle of the night, in Washington DC. and I am just blown away, I am going out of the car and I am calling my dad in Jerusalem and I am saying "Dad, what the hell?!" And my dad is telling me, "Oh come on Eran, don't be naive! You know when NYPD got an office in Tel Aviv, right? You know we got an office in NYC, right? Come on, we are working together to protect you."

And then I understand. It wasn't the first time, but that was my closure.

For years we are doing these kind of lectures, very different kinds of lectures and talking with communities here in the U.S. telling them that all they need to do is take care of their community and it's going to be fine. Every one of us will take care of our community, but you should know that what's going on in Palestine is a humanitarian crisis. And I am going around and I am telling them, I learned something growing up. All of us want to be on the right place at the right time when history is knocking on the door. And history is knocking right now. Really loud in Palestine, and all of you need to be on the right side in this humanitarian case. But if you don't care about Palestinians after these lectures, I don't care. And if you don't care about us Israelis asking for your help to stop the apartheid regime in Israel, I am fine with that also.

But you guys should know: you are next in line. The next one who will die from a tear gas canister, it will be in Denver, it will be in Oakland, in San Francisco... It is happening here already. It's happening to different people, to people of color, to immigrants, it's already happening, you guys are next in line. The next one who will die out of police brutality will be one of your sons, or your daughters, in a protest. Because they are training together: your police training with our army. Our army is training them on how to take care of the "enemy". Because Palestinians are our "enemy". But when they come back, you are their enemy. All this time, when we are taking care of our community - I was taking care of mine, and you were trying to take care of yours - they (the government, the police) are organizing together, globally, to oppress us. We need to start organizing globally to resist them. And that starts in Palestine, right now. Stopping the training there, we'll stop it here. That's why I joined in 2005 the Civil Society Call for the Palestinians for Boycott Divestment and Sanction on the state of Israel, taking it out from the source. Non-violently. Taking the money out of the equation.

How many lives can we save?

Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia, is being evacuated over a bomb threat, the airport's press service told RT. No new plane arrivals are being allowed and passengers in landed aircraft are remaining in their planes.

Pulkovo, servicing the northern 'capital', received a phone call about a bomb in the airport, press secretary Anna Fedoseeva told RT.

Meanwhile, the airport's virtual flight board on its website is showing no changes in the airport's operations.

In her latest post, my colleague Rania Khalek makes reference to "a new racist chant mocking the more than two hundred children slaughtered by Israel's merciless bombing campaign in Gaza: 'Tomorrow there's no school in Gaza, they don't have any children left.'"

This video shows an Israeli mob actually singing in celebration of children's deaths in the style of a soccer fans' song: "In Gaza there's no studying, No children are left there, Olé, olé, olé-olé-olé."

The mob also incites directly against Ahmed Tibi and Haneen Zoabi, two prominent Palestinian citizens of Israel who are members of the Knesset, Israel's parliament.

The video of the 26 July event in Tel Aviv was published by Israeli journalist Haim Har-Zahav.
Comment: Disgusting. A true example of a ponerized society.

Over 100 hate crimes recorded this month, more than double usual number
  • Attackers invoke the Holocaust and even shout 'Heil Hitler' at victims
  • Bricks thrown at Belfast's only synagogue, smashing windows
  • Rabbi attacked by four Muslim teenagers outside school in Gateshead
  • Bomb threat and stones thrown at a boy on a bike in North London
Jewish people in Britain are enduring a backlash of attacks, bomb threats and anti-semitic insults fueled by the bloodshed in Gaza.

More than 100 hate crimes have been recorded by police and community groups this month, more than double the usual number.

Community safety groups fear the total could be the second highest ever recorded, after an explosion of violence during the 2009 Gaza war.

In several disturbing cases attackers have invoked the Holocaust and even shouted: 'Heil Hitler' at victims.

A rabbi was attacked by four Muslim teenagers outside a Jewish boarding school in Gateshead in one of the most serious incidents.

In Belfast, bricks were thrown at the city's only synagogue, smashing windows on two consecutive nights.

Groups of Asian men chanted 'Heil Hitler' as they drove through a Jewish area of Manchester, throwing missiles at passers-by.

In north London, one pro-Israel organization received a telephone bomb threat and a Jewish boy riding a bicycle had a stone thrown at his head by a woman in a niqab.

More than 100 incidents have been reported to the Community Security Trust (CST), a charity that helps to protect Jews, since the start of this month.

The surge in attacks and threats follows a similar trend in 2009, when up to 1,400 Palestinians were killed during the Gaza war.
Comment: Just to be clear, not all Jews are Zionists, and not all Zionists are Jews. Zionists are responsible for the deaths of the Palestinians, not Jews. So all anger should be directed only to those that are responsible, lest one becomes the monster they claim to hate.

Almost exactly one year ago today, I published a post which went on to become extremely popular titled: Why You Should Never, Ever Drive Through Tenaha, Texas. If you failed to read it the first time around, I suggest you take look as it provides a good outline of just what is at stake when it comes to this destructive and abusive practice increasingly utilized by police departments across these United States with zero repercussions for the offending officers. In last years article I noted that:

In a nutshell, civil forfeiture is the practice of confiscating items from people, ranging from cash, cars, even homes based on no criminal conviction or charges, merely suspicion. This practice first became widespread for use against pirates, as a way to take possession of contraband goods despite the fact that the ships' owners in many cases were located thousands of miles away and couldn't easily be prosecuted. As is often the case, what starts out reasonable becomes a gigantic organized crime ring of criminality, particularly in a society where the rule of law no longer exists for the "elite," yet anything goes when it comes to pillaging the average citizen.

One of the major reasons these programs have become so abused is that the police departments themselves are able to keep much of the confiscated money. So they actually have a perverse incentive to steal. As might be expected, a program that is often touted as being effective against going after major drug kingpins, actually targets the poor and disenfranchised more than anything else.

While this epidemic of law enforcement theft is problematic throughout the country (see these egregious examples from Tennessee and Michigan), it appears Texas has a particularly keen love affair with the practice. Not only did last year's story take place in Texas, today's highlighted episode also takes place in the Lone Star State. This time in a town of 150 people called Estelline, which earns more than 89% of its gross revenues from traffic fines and forfeitures. In other words, from theft.

The demise of the dinosaurs, some 66 million years ago, represents the ultimate "Cold Case" - no eye witnesses, ancient physical evidence that's partial at best, and a pod of PI's bent on solving the mystery.

Armed with data from an additional decade of fossil discoveries - a new species is unearthed about once a week - and new analytical tools, an international team of paleontologists is pointing the finger at a now-familiar suspect: an asteroid or comet, which triggered the geologically sudden disappearance of dinosaurs.

But, the researchers add, the impactor had accomplices: changing climate and sea levels and a series of eruptions in which magma flooded the surface of a nascent Indian subcontinent as the motion of crustal plates carried it north across the Indian Ocean toward its eventual collision with Eurasia.

Russian_Geneticists_Disprove_O.jpg

Scientific evidence refuting the theory of modern humanity's African genesis is common knowledge among those familiar with the most recent scientific papers on the human Genome, Mitochondrial DNA and Y-chromosomes. Regrettably, within mainstream press and academia circles, there seems to be a conspicuous - and dare we say it - deliberate vacuum when it comes to reporting news of these recent studies and their obvious implications.

Australian historian Greg Jefferys explains that, "The whole 'Out of Africa' myth has its roots in the mainstream academic campaign in the 1990′s to remove the concept of Race. When I did my degree they all spent a lot of time on the 'Out of Africa' thing but it's been completely disproved by genetics. Mainstream still hold on to it."

It did begin the early 90's. And the academics most responsible for cementing both the Out-of Africa theory and the complementary common ancestral African mother - given the name of "Eve" - in the public arena and nearly every curriculum, were Professors Alan C. Wilson and Rebecca L. Cann.

In their defense, the authors of this paper were fully aware that genealogy is not in any way linked to geography, and that their placement of Eve in Africa was an assumption, never an assertion.

Physicists have identified the "quantum glue" that underlies a promising type of superconductivity -- a crucial step towards the creation of energy superhighways that conduct electricity without current loss.

The research, published online in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, is a collaboration between theoretical physicists led by Dirk Morr, professor of physics at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and experimentalists led by Seamus J.C. Davis of Cornell University and Brookhaven National Laboratory.

The earliest superconducting materials required operating temperatures near absolute zero, or −459.67 degrees Fahrenheit. Newer unconventional or "high-temperature" superconductors function at slightly elevated temperatures and seemed to work differently from the first materials. Scientists hoped this difference hinted at the possibility of superconductors that could work at room temperature and be used to create energy superhighways.

Several communities in west Michigan are cleaning up after getting slammed by high winds and golf ball sized hail.

The strong thunderstorm cut a path of destruction along the border of Kalamazoo and Allegan Counties.

Neighbors tell us there hasn't been a hail storm like this in decades.

Sunday night, the sky opened up and Mother Nature showed her wrath.

"It sounded like somebody was throwing golf balls at the house," said Kathy Porter of Cooper Township.

WWMT.com and our social media sites were soon flooded with pictures and videos of the huge hail.

"There was hail everywhere on the back porch, about two inches deep. Hail everywhere out there," said Denise Julien of Alamo Township.

The Japan Meteorological Agency warned of extreme heat today in Tokyo and other areas after local media reported 11 people died and almost 1,900 were hospitalized yesterday on the country's hottest day this year.

A quarter of the agency's 927 observation stations recorded 35 degrees Celsius (95 degrees Fahrenheit) or higher yesterday, the most so far this year, the Mainichi newspaper reported. Today's highest temperature reached 38.8 Celsius in Otsuki city, 75 kilometers (46 miles) west of Tokyo, as of 12:31 p.m., the agency's website showed.

Fifteen of those taken to hospitals yesterday suffering from the heat remained seriously ill, the Yomiuri newspaper reported today. Yesterday's high was 38.8 Celsius, in the central Japanese city of Higashiomi, a record for the location, according to agency data stretching back to 1978. Four of 10 of the hottest locations yesterday set record highs.

Revere_Tornado_Mass.jpg

Extreme weather rolled into the North of Boston region on Monday morning, spawning a tornado that ripped off roofs, uprooted trees, and shattered windows in the coastal community. Officials estimate 100-150 structures have been damaged, including 65 buildings that received substantial damage as well 13 that are uninhabitable. The damage was limited largely to residential roofs and windows on seven or eight streets, with no reported serious injuries.

"It's a work in progress, but I'm very confident that with the help of everyone involved... we're gonna get through this just fine," Mayor Rizzo said at a press conference late Monday afternoon.

The National Weather Service confirms the tornado had a path length of two mile and width of 3/8 of a mile with most winds on the EF-1 scale, however, EF-2 damage was reported in the vicinity of Revere Beach Parkway and the tornado will be classified as such. Maximum wind gusts were estimated between 100 and 120mph.

Temperatures in Moscow may be scorching this week, but in southern Siberia the weather has proven to be a whole lot chillier - and destructive.

At least seven people suffered serious head injuries after walls of hail the size of golf balls rained down on residents in the Altai Republic, the local branch of the Emergency Situations Ministry said Tuesday.

About 3,000 buildings and countless cars were damaged in the downpour, which shattered an estimated 1,600 square meters of glass, the ministry said in a statement.

A video uploaded to YouTube attests to the size of the hail, which fell Monday in the region's Maiminsky and Gorno-Altai districts.

Winter comes to summer including freak hailstorms, mega-flooding but also wild fires.

information_items_1573.jpg

Thermometers have been yo-yoing in July as Siberia copes with weather extremes that have seen record-breaking summer temperatures in major cities. Despite this, freak hailstones larger than hen eggs hit Kemerovo while a beach and park in Novosibirsk was left with an icy sheen of white, like in winter.

In Chelyabinsk region on the western fringe of Siberia, snow fell giving a ground cover of up to an unprecedented ten centimetres in the southern Urals.

In Magadan, in the extreme east, three months of rain fell in a day and a half, with locals water skiing along highways.

Last month, Yakutsk - capital of Siberia's coldest republic, Sakha, also known as Yakutia, recorded its highest-ever 21 June temperature of 35C.

whistler.jpg

The Earth sings every day, with an electric chorus. With the right tuning, radios can eavesdrop on this sizzling symphony of crackles, pops and whistles - the melody of millions of lightning bolts. A listener in New Zealand can even hear a volcano in Alaska erupt, a new study reports.

Lightning strikes unleash intense bursts of visible light and very-low-frequency (VLF) radio waves, among other kinds of energy. With a VLF receiver, anyone can listen to the constant chatter of Earth's lightning, estimated at 8 million strikes every day. (Not every lightning bolt becomes a whistler.)

View on Sott.net

A worldwide listening network is tuned to one particular lightning sound, called whistlers. These eerie electronic signals supposedly got their name from soldiers, who compared the sound to falling grenades. Modern ears might liken whistlers to a video game's "pew-pew-pew" soundtrack. [Listen to the Volcanic Whistling]

Whistlers are pulses of VLF radio energy that have traveled into space, leaping from one side of Earth to the other along the planet's magnetic field lines. Scientists monitor whistlers because the beautiful noise tells them about the planet's protective bubble of charged particles, called the plasmasphere. Whistlers on Venus and Jupiter suggest lightning also crackles on other planets.

Now, however, researchers have also linked a flurry of whistlers detected in Dunedin, New Zealand, to processes deep inside the Earth. For the first timescientists have connected whistlers to volcanic lightning, according to a study published July 2 in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.

"I think it's really cool," said Jacob Bortnik, a researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles, who was not involved in the study. "We're establishing a new connection between deep Earth and space."
Comment: For "good, up-to-the-minute knowledge of what's going on in space" [and earth] the team should read Pierre Lescaudron and Laura Knight-Jadczyk's new book, which offers plenty of explanations from the winning Electric Universe model. By demystifying phenomena such as how lightning, earthquakes and meteors generate electrophonic sounds, through disruptions of the geomagnetic field and the emissions of VLF, these and many other not commonly acknowledged interactions of our plasma rich universe are objectively explained.

A bright green light "travelling faster than any plane" was seen in the sky above Norfolk at 11pm on Sunday night.

A reader from Upper Stoke, near Poringland, "saw a really bright green light - which seemed to be torpedo-shaped, travelling across the sky towards Norwich, at great speed but absolutely silently.

"I could see it travelling through and above the clouds as I could see cloud beneath the light. It vanished completely after about three seconds."

"It was travelling faster than any plane I have seen and was so bright I initially thought firework but it was a) too high; b) there were no other fireworks and c) it made no noise or explosion.

Beaverton, Oregon - Nike, one of the world's largest shoe and apparel makers, has also proven that it possesses one of the world's largest and most loving hearts by legally adopting over 12,000 undocumented immigrant children who were being detained on the U.S./Mexico border.

The children, most of whom are between ages 6 and 16, came to this country from Central American nations such as Honduras, Guatemala and El Salvador seeking better opportunities and a loving family life, which is just what Nike will provide, according to Chairman Phil Knight.

"Nike has always been focused on making children's lives better," says Knight, "Traditionally, we have done that by providing state-of-the art footwear that gives kids a greater sense of self-worth. Now, by adopting these kids, we can do so much more."

Knight says the children will be housed on a compound outside Washington County, where they will be provided with an education and job training.

"We're going to help these kids prepare to be productive members of American society," Knight says, "By the time they reach adulthood they will all have marketable skills."

Knight adds that all the children have legally changed their surnames to Nike, and that their well being will be overseen by a special child welfare division the company has just launched. Knight also says that Nike will be moving all overseas production back to the U.S.
