Vietnam: Hanoi government must stop attacks against Vietnam’s Facebook community
According to Vietnamese netizens, the authorities are using so-called “opinion shapers” (du luan vien) to send an onslaught of abuse reports to Facebook, which has then led to the taking down of Facebook pages of well-known Vietnamese activists and human rights organizations. Since the end of June, at least 100 accounts have been known to be suspended. Read more >UPDATE
Belarus: Join the international day of solidarity with civil society and the human rights movement
The International Day of Solidarity was launched to mark the day when in 2011 Ales Bialiatski, famous Belarusian human rights activist, was arrested. On June 21st, 2014 Ales was pardoned and returned to his human rights work after more than 1000 days of imprisonment.

North Caucasus journalist found dead
North Caucasus journalist, Timur Kushaev was found dead on Friday 1 August. According to DOSH magazine his body was found by officers from the ministry for Emergency Situations of Kabrdino Balkaria in a forest close to a road in the Hasanya district near Nalchik. There were no obvious signs of violence, beatings or wounds on his body.
