A month before his appeal against extradition to Sweden, the founder of the Wikileaks website, Julian Assange, who remains under house arrest in Britain, is attempting to burnish his image tarnished by a series of ambiguous statements concerning Israel and Jews, the latest of which is quoted in the renowned British satirical magazine Private Eye. On April 8, the Israeli daily Yediot Ahronot is to publish a lengthy interview with Assange as well as a number of American diplomatic cables concerning Israel which Wikileaks turned over to it.

On the eve the interview, Intelligence Online is exclusively publishing five cables classified as "SECRET" and drafted by officials in the U.S. embassy in Israel between 2006 and 2009. The fact that cables concerning Israel have remained unpublished up to now has stirred numerous conspiracy theories in the Arab World, where Wikileaks is often suspected of having been infiltrated by Israeli intelligence. Focusing on the most sensitive issue of security cooperation between Washington and Tel Aviv, the cables published by Intelligence Online resume conversations within the Political Military Group, a bi-annual gathering between American and Israeli military aides to trade notes on security. The cables also provide details of three meetings between 2006 and 2009 between the American ambassador, Richard Jones, and Yuval Diskin, head of Israel's general security agency Shabak.  Access to the Report
