Those who worship themselves, the essence of the modern, commit spiritual suicide. In love with himself after seeing his reflection in a pond, Narcissus is doomed, as many in the modern world are, by vanity, celebrity and the need for admirers and sycophants. Narcissists master the arts of manipulation, seduction, power and control. They eschew empathy, honesty, trust and transparency. It is a form of mental illness.
"39 anti-government activists have died in a fire at Odessa's Trade Unions House. Some burned to death, while others suffocated or jumped out of windows, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry reported. The building was set ablaze by pro-Kiev radicals."
There's a psychopathic continuum from full-blown psychopath, having all the traits and characteristics, to some characteristics to having a few. Perhaps we should consider the full spectrum-- all the way to people who are the most opposite of psychopathic. What would such a spectrum look like? What would all the traits, characteristics and parameters look like, all the way to the most positive aspects of being human.
Voters in two eastern Ukrainian provinces showed strong support for secession from the coup regime in Kiev, but the U.S. State Department and other regime supporters reject the outcome and vow to press ahead with a special presidential vote on May 25, Robert Parry reports.

Pratap Chatterjee, The True Costs of Remote Control War In his latest post, Pratap Chatterjee puts a new face on that seemingly most "detached" form of conflict. Because for the first time American drone pilots are actually stepping out into the public to talk about what drone war really means and how deeply it affects them -- including surprising PTSD diagnoses -- we're getting a new picture of Washington's post-9/11 assassination campaigns in the backlands of the planet.
On Wednesday, Democratic Senator Patrick Leahy and Republican Congressman James Sensenbrenner proposal to amend the USA Freedom Act, the domestic metadata collection by the National Security Agency (NSA) of millions of Americans, passed unanimously by a vote of 32-0, in the House Judiciary Committee. The USA Freedom Act would scale back the federal government's domestic surveillance programs against Americans. However, what was not known is that such metadata is used to kill people, Michael Hayden, a retired Air Force General and former director of NSA and CIA said
Hundreds of Nigerian girls were kidnapped by Boko Haram fighters, three weeks ago. The abductions got very little media coverage, so the wave of U.S. revulsion is only now surfacing. Americans urge their government to "do something," but know next to nothing about the Nigerian political crisis, since there has not been "a single television news story about Boko Haram in 2013."

U.S. Overthrow in the Ukraine Risks Nuclear War With Russia President Obama is out of control. He has challenged Russia by subverting the government of The Ukraine and risking WWIII in the process. The Nation magazine notes he has done this without a ripple of dissent from Congress. Worse, where is the protest from the American people?
The understanding of the racial and philosophical person of Jesus, especially as applies to current events, by fundamentalist or just about any kind of conservative Christian is fascinating.

Changing People's Minds to Your Way of Thinking It's so easy to imprint people's minds. Wordmasters sit up nights thinking of new tricks to trap the unwary in their web of lies. Truth seeking in the modern world can be a 24/7 job. So how can we who know the truth free those trapped in a phony world? It has and can be done.

The danger posed to the state of Israel by Zionism Unsettled is that the study guide has the potential to build momentum in the U.S. which could, over time, help release the Jewish people from their current bondage to an increasingly paranoid right wing government.

The Art Of Shooting Oneself In The Foot There is a great deal at stake for all us, and we might all be better served understanding not just what we do in asserting and defending our beliefs, policies, and opinions, but why. Appreciating that might make a world of difference " literally!

Lenin on The Paris Commune (1871): Replacing the Bourgeois State Real democracy cannot exist under capitalism, What will replace the sham democracy of today?
Can the government criminalize an email on the ground that it's "annoying"? Is excessively deadpan academic parody a crime? This article documents a case in New York that could set precedent for years to come. From the prosecution's summation: "He knows how to twist language, stir up controversy. As a result, what he can do is devious and disturbing. There is no way to sugarcoat this, the defendant is a menace."
When it come to the virtue of greed, no one can come close to Billionaire Jesus. Who is He? Where did he come from? What does He portend?
"Could Central Banks Print Money to Help Developing Nations? Central bankers have long viewed sovereign money creation as a sacred policy tool, to be used sparingly lest it stoke inflation. That sanctity, however, had been challenged by the policy response of choice to the financial crisis."
Until now, the right's climate craziness has mainly been focused on attacking the science. And it has been quite a spectacle: At this point almost all card-carrying conservatives endorse the view that climate change is a gigantic hoax, that thousands of research papers showing a warming planet -- 97 percent of the literature -- are the product of a vast international conspiracy. But as the Obama administration moves toward actually doing something based on that science, crazy climate economics will come into its own.
Eric Cantor got booed today, but not by liberals or progressives, but by his fellow Republican's while he was giving a speech to the Virginia 7th District Convention. Cantor called his primary opponent, Dave Brat, a 'liberal college professor" at the convention. Well the crowd would have none of that lie, so they loudly booed him. They booed so loud that people couldn't hear Cantor speaking. Cantor wasn't happy and even got mad and scolded the crowd.
As the Republican Party's slate of potential 2016 presidential candidates begin positioning themselves for a run, they're asking: Do they rouse the base to score big in the primary, or do they look ahead to the general election and speak to swing voters? Their answers are all over the map. Some, like Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., are throwing nothing but red meat. In an interview broadcast Sunday on ABC, Rubio talked tough about the attack Benghazi, saying nobody in President Obama's administration has been held accountable. He said Hillary Clinton would get a failing grade on her record as secretary of state, and he rejected the "notion" that human activity is causing climate change.
House Democrats on Sunday made it clear that they do not expect fair proceedings from the Republican-led panel newly tasked with investigating the 2012 attack in Benghazi, Libya, but offered no definitive answer on whether they would appoint any of their own members to participate. Representative Debbie Wasserman Schultz of Florida, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, said on CNN's "State of the Union" that the panel's findings had been "predetermined" by Republicans.

Seeking honest politics distinguishes AAP from BJP and Congress
In a recent article I wrote that most of the people campaigning for Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) come from different social strata but are united by a common desire to seek honest politics. On reading the article a friend asked me if I believed that everyone in AAP was honest and everyone in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or Congress was corrupt.

It's Official--The Tea Party is now the Republican Party
Georgia House Representative Jack Kingston went through a hoop that virtually defies belief. He voted against a bill that he spent months on helping to write. The bill was a spending bill and the type o bill that the tea party has relentlessly opposed.
Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., warned that a Republican takeover of the Senate in the fall midterm elections would result in a chamber that operates like the Republican-controlled House of Representatives. "What are they on now, is this their fiftieth vote to repeal Obamacare? That's not how you run a country. We have real issues we need to deal with: minimum wage, student loan debt, equal pay for equal work, a little accountability for the big financial institutions," Warren said in an interview on CBS' "Face the Nation" Sunday.
A Federal Aviation Administration official warned this week about the dangers of even small unmanned aircraft, pointing specifically to a recent close call involving a drone and a commercial airliner that could have had "catastrophic" results. Then, Williams segued to a pilot's recent report of "a near midair collision" with a drone near the airport in Tallahassee, Florida. The pilot said that it appeared to be small, camouflaged, "remotely piloted" and about 2,300 feet up in the air at the time of the incident. "The pilot said that the UAS was so close to his jet that he was sure he had collided with it," Williams said. "Thankfully, inspection to the airliner after landing found no damage. But this may not always be the case." According to the FAA, the incident took place on March 22 and involved as U.S. Airways Flight 4650 going from Charlotte, North Carolina, to Tallahassee.
