Moscow Offers To Renew Georgia Ties
Russia has expressed a willingness to restore diplomatic relations with neighboring Georgia, according to a statement posted on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry. More The governor of Azerbaijan's northeastern district of Quba has been removed from his post -- one day after rioting in the city of Quba left buildings damaged and led authorities to call in security reinforcements. More The streets of Azerbaijan’s northeastern city of Quba appeared calm after security forces fired tear gas and rubber bullets to disperse a protest rally there. More Armenia's ruling party says it "regrets" a decision by France's Constitutional Court invalidating a law that made it a crime to deny that the killings of some 1.5 million Armenians by Ottoman Turks in 1915 constituted genocide. More The Human Rights Watch (HRW) advocacy group says it has documented dozens of forced evictions of residents in Azerbaijan, in the area of the capital Baku where the arena for the May 2012 Eurovision Song Contest is still being built. More Yunus-Bek Yevkurov met last week with the revamped opposition Mekhk Kkhel, an alternative parliament that has repeatedly denounced him to the Russian leadership. It's not clear whether the two sides succeeded in reaching agreement on any of the issues over which they are at odds. More Two dozen Azerbaijani and Turkish protesters gathered outside the Armenian Mission near the United Nations on February 27 to mark the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan's war with Armenia over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.
