The
Obama administration finally got what it wants, a free fire zone at
Syria to tip the civil war in the favor of Christian killing, jihadist,
Al Qaeda dominated Syrian rebels. Mission accomplished.
If
Congress endorses obama's transparent lies, American democracy will
never recover. If Congress makes itself the handmaiden of the executive
branch, Congress will never again have an independent voice. Congress
might as well close down. It will have rendered itself superfluous and
powerless.
There
is no strategic or tactical or moral benefit to the United States for
bombing Syria. We refuse to accept another political adventure into the
carnage of war. We spoke out for the innocent victims of the Iraq war
and today we speak for all the innocent Syrian victims past and perhaps
to come. In all aspects, bombing Syria is exactly the wrong thing to do.
Now is the time for dialogue not dynamite.
Here's
a question for you: Can a military tiptoe onto a continent? It seems
the unlikeliest of images, and yet it's a reasonable enough description
of what the U.S. military has been doing ever since the Pentagon created
an Africa Command (AFRICOM) in 2007.
Prions
are not inactivated by cooking, heat, autoclaves, ammonia, bleach,
hydrogen peroxide, alcohol, phenol, lye, formaldehyde, or radiation, and
they remain in the soil, contaminating it for years. Alcohol actually
makes prions more transmissible by binding them to metal like surgical
instruments.
Ask
yourself: is it really so indisputably good, moral or constructive to
support dropping bombs on Syria -- most likely in heavily populated
civilian areas -- to make some sort of abstract political statement, but
with no real expectation that doing so will make anything better?

Syria: Who controls America's Foreign Policy? The Zionist lobby in the US is pushing us to attack Syria.
Two
weeks after an apparent chemical attack in Syria, the Obama
administration continues to tout its "scrubbed and rescrubbed"
intelligence as proving that the Syrian government is to blame. But not a
single piece of verifiable evidence has been presented to the American
people.
The
Action Plan concludes: "We cannot necessarily stop them from doing what
they intend to do, but we can make their aggression harm them far more
than Syria and its people in the end. Herein lays the power, using the
enemies momentum against him in the most powerful way possible.

Ten Reasons Why America Does Not Need to Go to War Over Syria So, now that we're fully distracted and have forgotten about Edward Snowden's damning revelations about the NSA and the fact that the government has been paying AT&T to have its employees monitor Americans' phone calls as part of a DEA drug monitoring program, not to mention the fact that the IRS has been secretly using the DEA surveillance and then instructing its agents to cover their tracks, what about Syria?

Busted for Playing Banjo on Independence Mall: Park Rangers Brutally Arrest Iraq War Vet at Anti-Syria Bombing Demo
At
an iconic national park memorial where the Constitution and Bill of
Rights were written and signed, Park Ranger thugs brutalize an Iraq vet
protester, as TCBH! journalist Dave Lindorff reports
Daily Kos: The renewed war on the veteran teacher bySteve Singiser
The big lie: "The notion of a foreshortened teaching career was largely introduced by Teach for America, which places high-achieving college graduates into low-income schools for two years. Today, Teach for America places about a third of its recruits in charter schools."Strong schools can withstand the turnover of their teachers," said Wendy Kopp, the founder of Teach for America. "The strongest schools develop their teachers tremendously so they become great in the classroom even in their first and second years."
A
new time and opportunity are on the horizon. It is a time when those
who have the best interests of humanity at heart can forge a new form of
life that can lead to a time, as one wise individual put it, when "the
present state of fear, and of intense competitive struggle for
existence, will be superceded by a real measure of stability and
security."
Federal
prosecutors will call for a stringent gagging order on Brown to prevent
him from talking to media about his prosecution. Brown faces up to 100
years in prison for alleged offences relating to his work exposing
online surveillance. In legal papers lodged with the court last month,
the government asked the judge to instruct the defence to refrain from
making "any statement to members of any television, radio, newspaper,
magazine, internet (including, but not limited to, bloggers), or other
media organization about this case."
Bill
Clinton made the economic case for implementing and improving the
Affordable Care Act on Wednesday morning at the Clinton Presidential
Library in Little Rock, Arkansas. The White House asked the man who was
dubbed "The Secretary of Explaining Sh*t" after last year's Democratic
convention to explain the law, in an attempt to combat the massive
campaign by Republicans to misinform voters and sabotage President
Obama's signature legislative accomplishment.
Eight reasons America should not intervene in the Syrian conflict.
The
president has done a pretty good job of selling his plan to
congressional leaders. He has not, however, sold it to the American
people. Reflecting on the proposed intervention, Congressman Alan
Grayson, D-Florida, allowed as how "nobody wants this except the
military-industrial complex."
The
Palestinian delegation did return to real recently renewed peace talks
after Israeli forces' raided a refugee camp in north Jerusalem on August
26, killing three. This was not the only lethal Israeli attack to take
place during "peace talks," and it will not likely be the last.
A
discussion of the possible consequences of U.S. surgical strikes aimed
at degrading Syria's capabilities for using chemical weapons.
In
the shadows, between 2000-2008, the OTC derivatives market grew from
$95.2 trillion to $672.6 trillion, notational value. When the dark
market deals started to go sour, the impact was felt around the world.
Larry Summers, the man who was featured on the cover of Time Magazine as
part of the "Committee to Save the World" with Robert Rubin and Alan
Greenspan in 1999, instead helped bring it to its knees.
Republicans,
alarmed by a rise in food-stamp enrollment during the economic
downturn, are pushing to scale down the program. No matter what Congress
decides, benefits will be cut in November, when a provision in the 2009
stimulus bill expires.
The
Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved a resolution Wednesday
granting President Obama limited authority to launch a military strike
on Syria in response to its reported use of chemical weapons against
civilians. Acting hours after Obama, during a visit to Sweden, said the
credibility of Congress and the international community was also at
stake, the committee voted 10 to 7, with one member voting "present," to
approve using force against the government of Syrian President Bashar
al-Assad. President Obama, visiting Sweden, says the credibility of
Congress and the world is also at stake.

Obama Blows the Whistle on Himself: the Manning, Snowden (and Godfather) Connections
Obama
is a more deplorable whistle-blower than he considers Edward Snowden
and Chelsea Manning to be. That is, by confirming their revelations,
he's unwittingly blowing the whistle on himself. Consider the parallels
one-by-one.
It
would be one thing if a strike on Syria was critical to America's
future, or even the future of the Middle East. But it is not. In fact, a
strike on Syria may well cause more havoc in that tinder-box region of
the world by unleashing still more hatred for America, the West, and for
Israel, and more recruits to terrorism. Strikes are never surgical;
civilians are inevitably killed.
If
the use of chemical weapons against their own people (insert irony
here) is so serious that the United States has no choice but to bomb the
bejeezus out of the country, then where are our allies? The UK will not
join us, France is on the fence, Putin is sending a missile cruiser
into the region to protect its ally, Syria, and none of the NATO or UN
nations have committed thus far to assist in this murderous effort.
My Diary: Life, is in my definition, has been an extremely insufficient.
The beautiful scene seen through the southward-faced window, flowers, the wide and square road, which is seen up to the distance - these are also the synonyms of mine to live.
OBAMA
THE WOLF: He's proved over and over again that he's a wolf. If at
this point you don't agree, you are negligently naïve. For example:
Detainees in Guantanamo, who have been officially cleared for release,
will die there.
A
democracy is a country where the all-powerful President does what he
alone knows is good tor the people. Stand up! The United States of
America, our fatherland, the only moral nation in the world. And the
only powerful nation. Together we stand. Flag at the top. We have the
moral right to invade and kill millions in any country that does not
abide by our rules.
The
moment of truth is around the corner for an intervention in Syria
either from or with the participation of Jordan, where training in
preparation for this moment has been going on by leaps and bounds for
the past two years
For
the past two weeks, in this Daily Republic column, we've been examining
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders' four questions for the
next Federal Reserve Chairman. This week's question is: "What would
you do to divert the $2 trillion in excess reserves that financial
institutions have parked at the Fed into more productive purposes, such
as helping small- and medium-sized businesses create jobs?"
Lying
is a well crafted Art in Washington. It is part of the culture and
fabric of the Game of Politics itself. A highly financed game that has
intentionally corrupted the core of our entire political system.
Sven och Olle tala om Obama besok till Sverige
The rather-sudden Obama visit to Sweden has generated much comment -- here is a tongue-in-cheek comment from an author living on Gotland, Sweden at present.
Responding to Killer Gas
What's a President to do when confronted with killer gas? But let's say that the gas in question threatens the President's own country and that Tomahawk missiles are utterly irrelevant.
When
the president asks Congress for a blank check for war, why does the
Congress fret about setting a limit on war powers instead of just
saying: "NO" to any check? What happened to checks and balances (as if
we all didn't know)?
To
justify a very immoral--probably imminent--act of ours--the bombing of
innocent civilians with our terrorist cruise-missile bombs, we trot our
our very compromised, half billionaire Secretary of State to declare
"moral obscenity" when others do what we have done so often! Have we
really gone thru Alice's Looking Glass, where up is down, wrong is
right? Using our kind of "logic," the US should have an intervention
here!
You can't argue with a fundamentalist Christian unless you accept the in-errancy of the Bible.
A
longitudinal study of 967 two-parent families and their children has
found that harsh verbal discipline, the psychological force causing
emotional pain or discomfort to correct or control behavior, in early
adolescence can be harmful to teens later. Researchers found that harsh
verbal discipline can cause teens to misbehave at school, lie to
parents, steal, or fight. Moreover, parents' hostility increases the
risk of delinquency and fosters anger, irritability, and belligerence in
adolescents. [I also note that such discipline has no positive effect,
after raising two kids and teaching for 20 years.]
