Today, the deliberate inversion of historical fact by Western media and officials is so widespread that it is subverting the very foundation of historical reasoning. The principal aim of these distortions of public perception is the conquest of our minds, and corruption of our ability to separate truth from lies, all for the purpose of deluding people into accepting servitude and atrocities. The Western media machine attempts to rewrite the history of WWII by blaming the Soviet Union for starting the war in Europe , or at least for being a major aggressor and partner-in-evil alongside Nazi Germany. Just as the US promoted the Nazi regime in Germany to target the Soviet Union 70 years ago, the monied interests controlling the US are today using fascism as a tool to weaken Russia and prevent its potentially powerful alliance with Germany and other European countries. As Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergey Lavrov said on April 22nd: "Americans do a lot to prevent Germany from developing closer ties with Russia." The US played an important role in the initiation of the Second World War and the major events that lead to it. Ministry of Defence of DPR registered shellings from 120 mm artillery system, 120 mm and 82 mm mortars by the Kiev forces. Inherently, Kiev forces have increased activity following an interview of Self-proclaimed President Petro Poroshenko in which he said that the war would end when Kiev regained Donbass and Crimea. This speech has become a signal to the pro-Kiev military to increase provocations and violating of the ceasefire. Ukrainian authorities have taken unprecedented precautions for the anniversary of the events of May 2. Up to 2,800 police, in addition to 500 personnel from other security organizations and volunteer units are being mobilized in the city. Armored cars and infantry fighting vehicles are set to reinforce them. Governor Ihor Palytsa told press that "we will respond firmly, and sort out whether the detention was lawful or not later. Announcing her latest campaign for the presidency, Hillary Clinton declared she was entering the race to be the champion for "everyday Americans." As a lawmaker and diplomat, however, Clinton has long championed military campaigns that have killed scores of "everyday" people abroad, from Iraq to Yemen. As commander-in-chief, there's no reason to believe she'd be any less a hawk than she was as the senator who backed George W. Bush's war in Iraq, or the Secretary of State who encouraged Barack Obama to escalate the war in Afghanistan. If her nomination is as sure a thing as people say, then antiwar organizing needs to start right away. Hillary has already won the support of those who continually agitate for war. "I feel comfortable with her on foreign policy," Robert Kagan, a co-founder of the neoconservative Project for the New American Century, told The New York Times last summer. "If she pursues a policy which we think she will pursue," he said, "it's something that might have been called neocon, but clearly her supporters are not going to call it that; they are going to call it something else." Comment: Of course they would get along famously. Think-tanker Kagan, in tandem with his government-embedded wife Victoria ("F*ck the EU") Nuland, has their own profitable little war factory going in Ukraine. We're going to call it what it is: More of the same sort of murderous policies that destroyed Iraq, destabilized Libya, killed women and children with cluster bombsand drones in Yemen, and legitimized the undermining of democracy in Honduras. There's little chance the Republicans will nominate someone better, but given Clinton's record as a senator and Secretary of State - the latter giving us a very good idea of how she would approach foreign affairs once in office - it will be hard for them to find anyone much worse. We know that Clinton is no reliable friend of peace. Today she supports diplomacy with Iran, but back in 2009, as Secretary of State, she was adamant that the U.S. keep open the option of attacking the Islamic Republic over never-proven allegations it was seeking the nuclear weapons that Israel already has. Her attempts to portray herself as an ally of those who are pro-peace, as a sort of reluctant imperialist, is the same sort of co-opting distortion that has helped quiet opposition to President Obama's pro-war agenda. If anything, Hillary is even more militaristic than the ostensibly reluctant warrior she's campaigning to replace. Still, that hasn't stopped her from trying to be all things to all people — even people like us. | |

Three sets of military exercises kicked off in Europe on Monday, involving thousands of servicemen from a variety of NATO nations and their allies, amid a wave of similar action across the area. Estonia is holding its largest-ever military drills. Named Siil-2015 (Hedgehog), the maneuvers involve about 13,000 personnel. The number includes about 7,000 reservists, along with members of the volunteer Estonian Defense League. Siil-2015, scheduled to last until May 15, also involves forces from the US, the UK, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Belgium, Poland and the Netherlands. American troops, who are staying in Estonia as part of the massive training operation Atlantic Resolve, will bring four Abrams main battle tanks to the exercise. British, Belgian and German air defense units, as well as several NATO warplanes, will also take part. | |

Prior to even the beginning of the Jade Helm provocation strategically announced months in advance for the purpose of triggering reactionary alarm amongst US citizenry fearing martial law and FEMA roundups that the feds have been planning for years (see 2010's FM 39.40 manual here), and now police killings in cities nationwide are ramping up urban tensions to the point that civil unrest is opportunistically providing the feds their sought after excuse to possibly declare martial law even before Jade's "summer games" commence mid-July throughout the US Southwest. By design events are being staged in Baltimore and now Detroit with yet another police killing that may incite public protest and civil unrest that then "justify" calling out the National Guard. Michael Snyder just wrote an article entitled "Are We Being Psychologically Conditioned to Accept Martial Law in America?" He documents firsthand accounts that the Baltimore police authorities may have purposely attempted to bait high school students into violence and that the mayor ordered police to stand down while the city began burning before they were finally dispatched to the scene when conditions had already unraveled out of control. It also comes out that while pandemonium in Baltimore broke out, various state National Guard units across the nation were simultaneously undergoing training to quell civil unrest. It's all going down like perfectly planned clockwork. When police and military are training to gear up for civil unrest, somewhere in the country a major flare-up just happens to co-occur. This "coincidence" keeps recurring. At the dog and pony show at the Bastrop County public hearing in Texas earlier this week,Lt Col. Lastoria, the Special Ops Jade Helm spokesman, admitted that during any military exercise an order to suddenly go live may be made at any time. And the feds wonder why there's such an uproar over Jade Helm. Over the past several weeks, we've seen so many examples of brutality played out in our cities -- and mostly our most impoverished areas -- that it isn't difficult to see why so many people are in the streets. Many say white people cannot truly understand the deep racial issues that target African American people and their communities, and that is no doubt true. But that sort of thinking also keeps groups of people apart who might otherwise band together to exert powerful forces on the corruption that manifests itself in so many places in our society. Since I advocate for transformation of our health care system, I see brutality -- economic and physical -- exerted on patients all the time. Yet patients often do not speak up or gather enough support to wage even a small protest. We've so ingrained the notion of personal financial responsibility in our market-based system, that patients and their families and friends often struggle alone to remedy their current health-related financial crisis rather than risk care denials, more illness and perhaps even death. Black skin or white, our health care system knows no divide aside from the ability to pay, and those who cannot demonstrate sufficient ability to pay are weeded out. Just recently, I was hospitalized twice in a short period of time. I have insurance, but I do have co-pays and deductibles that must be considered before deciding to seek care. The first hospitalization was due to a life-threatening GI bleed. Just 36 hours after discharge from six days in the hospital, I was rushed back in with a life-threatening bloodstream MRSA infection. In both instances, while in the emergency room in desperate shape, hospital business office staff made their way into my patient care area with their rolling computers and asked me how I wanted to pay my $250 ER co-pay. It was a different sort of brutality, but it was brutal to be sure. | |
Comment: The profit driven healthcare system in the U.S. is brutal and reflective of a society which is ruled by psychopathic elites who can never satisfy their greed. Until more people wake up to the fact that these same elites are causing this misery while actively promoting divisions between all sectors of society, we will continue to be captives of their systemic brutality.

The recent scandal involving the sexual abuse of African children carried out by members of a UN peacekeeping mission, despite numerous efforts of this international organization to play it down, will not be ignored. And the international community must finally recall what was the original purpose of the UN as established by allied powers after the Second World War in the name of peace and security for all people on the planet. According to a series of publications by Bruxelles2, France Info, Guardian and a number of other media outlets, a number of French and Georgian soldiers that were employed in the UN peacekeeping operation "Sangaris" in Central Africa, are responsible of child sexual abuse. It should be recalled that an armed conflict between the government of the Central African Republic and Muslim rebels, many of which took part in the civil war of 2004-2007, resulted in the French Defense Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian announcing that France would deploy a thousand soldiers in CAR to carry out a UN peacekeeping mission. On December 9, 2013 the United States decided to take part in this operation, while the Georgian parliament also agreed to send its soldiers to CAR a year later, on February 22, 2014. By June 2014 the number of Georgian Armed Forces in the Central African Republic reached 140 members. According to the French news agency France Info, French and Georgian soldiers were raping children aged 8 to 15 years in the area near M'Poko airport and were subjecting them to sexual exploitation. | |
Comment: The only way they continue to get away with calling themselves peacekeepers is by systematically covering up the abuses and punishing whistle blowers. And it appears they have been doing just that for some time.

The idea that police officers should use handcuffs and leg shackles to control an unruly individual is hardly unusual in the US, where fondness for the use of metal restraints runs through the criminal justice system. What is unusual is when the individual in question is five years old, and the arrest takes place in an elementary school. New York state police were called last week to the primary school in Philadelphia, New York, close to the Canadian border, after staff reported that a pupil, Connor Ruiz, was disruptive and uncontrollable. When officers arrived at the premises, they placed the five-year-old boy in handcuffs, carried him out to a patrol car and put his feet into shackles before taking him to a medical center for evaluation. The child's mother, Chelsea Ruiz, told the local Watertown Daily Times she was shocked and angered by what had happened. "An officer told me they had to handcuff his wrists and ankles for their safety," she said. "I told him that was ridiculous. How could someone fear for their safety when it comes to a small, five-year-old child?" | |
Comment: School administrators and police are always quick to excuse their over-the-top responses to unruly children, but it is telling that these extreme responses have been escalating at a time when police in general have been acting like out of control thugs everywhere. It seems no one, not even small children or pets can be protected from the police state mentality.

Israeli police forces have clashed with Ethiopians protesting against the Tel Aviv regime's racism and police brutality. Sunday's clashes erupted in the city of Tel Aviv on Sunday as Israeli forces fired stun grenades and tear gas to disperse thousands of Ethiopians, who had taken to the streets to voice anger against institutionalized discrimination and police violence. Some demonstrators threw stones and glass bottles after attempting to storm the municipality building. According to local media reports, at least 20 policemen and several protesters were injured during the clashes. Demonstrators were chanting and holding up signs reading, "A violent policeman must be put in prison" and "We demand equal rights". The event's organizers reportedly put the number of people attending the rally at 10,000. Ethiopian demonstrators blocked major arteries and junctions in central Tel Aviv, vowing to continue rallies until their demands are met. | |

A young African American woman from Brighton, Alabama recently died in police custody. Police have still refused to provide any reasonable explanation for the cause behind her death. We were among the first and only news sites to report on the death of Sheneque Proctor. But we honestly expected mainstream coverage of the tragic death of this 18-year-old woman to follow, especially given how widely our report on her death circulated. We are used to being among the first to cover cases of police brutality and injustices, only to see the mainstream, corporate media catch on weeks or sometimes months later. But this time something is different. Unlike our early coverage of John Crawford, or Tamir Rice, the story of Sheneque Proctor continues to be ignored by the mainstream media, in spite of the numerous similarities to high profile cases like that of Eric Garner. A new petition has begun circulating in response to Proctor's death at the hands of police officers. Many have begun referring to Proctor as the "female Eric Garner," not to diminish her unique life, personality and death, but instead to highlight how the media is ignoring the death of an African American woman with asthma in police custody. The petition demands a federal and state investigation into the death of the 18-year-old, who died in the Bessemer City Jail after she was arrested on November 1st. She was at a Bessemer hotel at a party with friends when police arrived and arrested her for "disorderly conduct," according to her aunt, Tracy Rodda. Early the next morning, Proctor was found dead in her jail cell, after having complained of problems with asthma which police apparently refused to take seriously. | |

An estimated 12 million trees across California's forestlands have died over the past year because of extreme drought conditions, according to an aerial survey conducted April 8-17 by the U.S. Forest Service. In San Diego County, 82,528 trees, mostly Jeffrey pines across Mt. Laguna, have succumbed to a lack of rainfall, with many more struggling to survive, said Jeffrey Moore, interim aerial survey program manager for the U.S. Forest Service. There is "very heavy mortality, a lot of discoloration in the pine trees that probably will expire sometime during this growing season, as well as oak trees that are suffering," Moore said. Moore was part of a team that surveyed the trees visually, using a digital mapping system while flying in a fixed-wing aircraft 1,000 feet above ground. A tree's survival often depends on its proximity to other trees, he said. "A lot of trees are competing for whatever available moisture there is in a drought situation," Moore said. "When you have too many trees in an area, it makes it hard on all of the trees." | |

A sinkhole developed in the 2400 block of Lehigh Parkway South, near the entrance of Mack Truck Customer Center late Sunday, according to Allentown police. The 15-foot-wide hole has been stabilized but traffic is being diverted because of the presence of gas mains under the road in the area, police said. The hole is also about 50 yards from the main entrance to the Mack Trucks facility. Mack workers are being diverted to the Oxford Drive entrance of the Allentown Recycling Center and then to the rear entrance of the Mack facility, police said Comment:
The current sinkhole isn't the first one in Allentown. Another opened 6 months ago, as you can see in the video above. In 2013 a large sinkhole threatened a family home in Bethlehem Township. (video below)

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake has struck near Wanaka in New Zealand. Buildings in Wanaka and Queenstown were reportedly swaying when the quake hit but there are no reports of damage or casualties. The quake, located 30km northwest of the town, struck at 2.29pm (local time). It was at a depth of 5km and its intensity was 'severe', GeoNet reports. By late Monday afternoon GeoNet had reviewed the quake to a 'moderate' intensity one.

Plagues of locusts have been devouring their way through the state's central west compounding the hardships suffered by drought-affected farmers. More than 150 swarms have been reported to Biosecurity Queensland so far this year, with some reported to be more than 40ha in size and thick enough to "black out the sky". While their activity has been dying down as winter approaches, there are fears eggs are lying dormant waiting to return in favourable weather conditions. There were only 15 swarms reported throughout the state from 2011 and 2013. But Biosecurity Queensland figures show there were 40 swarms reported in January, 59 in February, 43 in March and 16 in April and conducted aerial sprays over 20,000ha of central Queensland to tackle them. Locust activity has been reported mostly in the central west including Blackall-Tambo, Emerald, Longreach, Barcaldine, Banana, Boulia, Cloncurry and Diamantina. | |

A team of German and Canadian marine biologists have for the first time ever witnessed so-called 'dead zones' in the Atlantic Ocean - places where no life can thrive, owing to there being almost no dissolved oxygen in the water. Zones depleted of oxygen do exist in nature and have previously been discovered along populated coastal areas off the eastern and southern coasts of the United States and the Baltic Sea. But this is the first time such a place has been observed in the open ocean. In a paper published in the journal Biogeosciences, researchers outline the existence of pockets of low-oxygenated patches of water in the Atlantic Ocean. They are vast - sometimes 100 square miles in size. They travel constantly and are also seasonal. One of the biggest ever discovered forms each year in the Gulf of Mexico. What makes these things tick is a hodge-podge of nutrients and microbes delivered from elsewhere. It's a cyclical process: the nutrients are food for algae blooms, which in turn get devoured by microorganism. This creates waste, which is then eaten by other microbes. This process uses up a lot of oxygen, creating oxygen-free pockets. | |

Did you know that Michigan was just hit by the worst earthquake that state has seen in more than 60 years? In recent days, there has been a series of alarming earthquakes all over the United States. Of course none of these earthquakes was anything like the massively powerful quake that just crippled the entire nation of Nepal, but many are concerned that these earthquakes could be a sign of what is to come. All over the planet, seismic activity is increasing. In fact, I recently wrote about how the number of volcanoes erupting right now is greater than the 20th century's average for an entire year. At the same time, the surface of the sun has become very, very quiet. As you will see in this article, there are scientists that link the two. It is believed that times of very low solar activity have something to do with a rise in seismic activity, and there is one scientist that is claiming that solar activity is declining faster "than at any time in the last 9300 years" right now.
