Got kids who are already bored with summer? Are they constantly under your feet? Why not spend the time teaching them how to cook and bake? You'll find plenty of suggested activities in this newsletter.

Adventures in Cooking a.k.a. Baking with Your Kids
It's never too early to introduce your child to the wonders of the kitchen. Even if it's little things like setting the table, it's a beginning. Start your adventure small and add more difficult tasks, as they get older*. Trying new recipes and baking techniques can be fun for the whole family once everyone is inducted into the adventures found in the kitchen.

Rules to Post in the Kitchen
When dealing with anything kitchen such as sharp objects, not spreading germs or burning yourself, you and your children will feel much safer if you post these rules.

If You Don't Do Anything Else With Them...
Make sugar cookies with them. Depending on your child's age, there are different skill levels associated with making sugar cookies. The oldest children can make the dough and be in charge or putting-in or removing the cookies from the oven. Middle aged children can be in charge of cutting cookies out. Youngest children can be in charge of decorating the cookies whether that's done before or after baking.
