It was not too long ago that scientists spoke about space and time as two separate things. The contributions of Einstein in the first part of the last century changed that. Increasingly since then, space and time have been referred to by physicists as the 'space-time continuum'.

Whereas space, prior to this, was considered to have three dimensions, Einstein's contribution gave rise to a four-dimensional concept that included time1.

This continuum was likened by Einstein and later by others to a sheet of rubber that can expand and contract, curl or lie flat, affected by the displacement of matter in a way that science is still coming to understand.

The nature of space and time or 'space-time' is still in a stage of theoretical unfoldment, yet even now, almost a century after Einstein's revolutionary presentation of the new theory, most people still have difficulty picturing physical reality as four-dimensional, and a five-dimensional reality seems even further away.

In this article I am going to explore a concept on why I think we are able to feel other people’s emotions or in other words what new agers would call being an Empath.

I am going to present coordinating information to support empathy from a scientific-psychic perspective. If you are not familiar with the word Empath, it is a shortened name for being empathetic to an extreme.

For example, walking into a room and feeling other people’s emotions or being able to connect to someone else’s emotions with such intensity that it changes your own emotional state.

Where empathy is feeling and being able to relate to someone telling a story to you, being an Empath is knowing and feeling the story before someone even shares it with you. A psychic form of connection with your environment and the people around you.
So my theory, you ask?

"Brain power" takes on a literal meaning when it comes to EEG paintingmind-responsive furniture, and the work of Lisa Park. Park combines EEG scanning with speakers and pools of water to visualize her thoughts and emotions.

Last year, she exposed her brain patterns to the world with Eunoia, in which she placed five water-filled metal plates atop speakers designed to respond to her real-time brain data.

In that project, Park sorted the data into five emotions—sadness, anger, desire, happiness, and hatred, one per plate. But the latest iteration of the project takes the experiment to the next level:

There are many advantages to meditation. Meditation is a powerful practice – whether in a spiritual or neutral context. The list here is a summery of most benefits.

There are many forms of meditation, ranging from contemplative prayer to Buddhist Zen meditation. All have their value for what they try to accomplish.

The list below shows mostly positive side effects of meditation, but does not necessarily constitute the sole purpose of meditative practice.

While we appreciate these benefits, the purpose of zazen (sitting meditation) is clearing the mind. Everything we do becomes meditation, i.e. Zen, and hence our Zen practice results ultimately in a peaceful, meditative lifestyle.
