Kazakh Universities Make Lists Of Muslim Students
Official Kazakh fears that young people are becoming radicalized and even joining the fighting in Syria have apparently permeated down into the academic realm, where, according to RFE/RL's Kazakh Service, universities in the country's main city, Almaty, are making lists of Muslim students. More Social media is in Kazakhstan to stay, leaving Islamic leaders racing to get online to make sure the county's youth get their message. More Recent figures show that a high number of rural women in Tajikistan are delivering babies at home, often without the aid of midwives or qualified medical professionals. RFE/RL looks at how home births are harming the country's efforts to improve its high maternal mortality rate. More Kazakh citizens have a new legal tool to protect them against the publication of their personal information. But journalists say the new Personal Data Protection law, which goes into effect on November 25, could be used against them. More |
